It's actually closer to Portal 2's version of source than L4D's, but it's obviously not fully using everything that was added to make the Portal 2 build.
It's using Global Illumnation, that wasn't in P2 Source, rather Dota 2 source.
So it's it's DoTA's branch of Source then it might be more compatible with the main branch of Source for all we know

It does have some files with L4D stuff but they are mostly config files.
P2 Source - Engine branch (or newer) would make sense, since its currently the newest Source Engine - branch. But in the other hand... some people have reported CS: GO having global lightning, which has been first introduced on Dota 2 - source. (What i have understood, Alien Swarm - Branch doesnt count on this.) Think of it, why valve would suddenly go back to older branch, in this case L4D - engine branch?
You can't make presumptions about the engine branch on a ported map ...

I'd like to see some community maps with that kind of stuff.[/QUOTE] While it's not really real physics (for an example, look at videos from Portal 2 where they send the goo through an upside down portal, it fucks up) it's easy to say from the past that it'll be in the game if Valve wants to use it
