They were darkened for visibility improvements a few patches ago.

They said there would be a new feature in the E3 build. But so far nobody has said anything about it. So what's going on?

Hmm, I think playing CS:GO has improved my skill at CS in general. I went back to CSS to test how good I am and I went from going 1/10 to 5/7 or so. Still not very good but I've noticed a drastic improvement.
