Maybe there will be more factions at release? I don't know.
I hope so, it'd be nice if they gave this quite a bit of post-launch support.
By the way, has anyone got any idea what's the official name for faction used currently on Dust/Dust 2? Leet/Elite or what?
IIRC they're called the Elite Crew.
Preordered. Excited for the patch!
Sorry
But that's already in game, so how can that be pirate [edit] dsfgs nvm I confused it with another model
IIRC they're called the Elite Crew.
It's called Leet in the folder, so I guess you're right. The voiceovers in that folder sound Middle-Eastern. Balkan voiceovers don't sound like Balkans, more like some other CTs. [editline]9th August 2012[/editline]
Preordered. I lost the stuff.

Anyone got a link to the patchnotes for the yet-to-come patch? Or to shorten this up more: Was there anything written about a new map coming along?

Would be pretty refreshing to see, but I guess we won't get them. Everyone on the steamforums are saying that it wouldn't work because females are generally smaller and therefore are harder to hit. And Turtlerock/Valve would have to record twice as many lines too, I guess.
Pre-ordered. I'm gonna go wild with the SDK, so here's a question: what kinda maps do you like? Not necessarily in terms of gamemode, but in terms of aesthetics, layout (open and snipery or mainly close quarters) etc? I need some good inspiration.

New score board and new Dust 2 ct model in background.
I don't like that there are ranks. It seems as if valve are trying to suck the cocks of all the cod players. Especialy since they are using military ranks. It's a little weird that everybody in the skirmish is a fucking general... If they are going to have ranks... couldn't they make their own symbols up? Different shapes, pretty colours etc? (wonders if spuf will support me)
oh good, now i will be able to see my ping without net_graph
If they are going to have ranks... couldn't they make their own symbols up? Different shapes, pretty colours etc? (wonders if spuf will support me)
What's wrong with using military ranks in a military(ish) shooter? They should stick to real, or at least realistic, ranks. CS is not a fantasy or sci-fi game, so made-up ranks with shiny alien symbols wouldn't make any sense.

so they are not going to make totally new viewmodels? and remove the robocop animations...
so they are not going to make totally new viewmodels? and remove the robocop animations...
Models are fine and so are animations, but some guns firing animations are being changed next patch.
so they are not going to make totally new viewmodels? and remove the robocop animations...
What else, maybe CSS had better animations? :v: Those new models might be the IDF models - they fit the urban desert setting.

The boys just don't want girls in their treefort, so to speak (which is a shame, as women have been a part of forces like SWAT/FBI/IDF for a long time.) Also, not only the scoreboard, but sound spatialization is discussed. Awesome!

Wasn't sure on Facepunch's take on it though.
Already pre-ordered it but is this anything other than a reskinned css?
Already pre-ordered it but is this anything other than a reskinned css?
yes
What I said on SPUF about female models:
They were in the concepts, but since they haven't noted it in the changelog they aren't in the game. It's probably too much hassle for them, because they'd need to record twice more voice overs for every faction - each one has probably hundreds of lines, so multiply that by 14 (the total number of factions). That's probably how many voice lines males have. Second problem I can think of is that if the models were randomized, the game would need to recognize if the player uses a female or male model and then use the correct voiceover group. Female models wouldn't make sense sometimes - while I can understand they could be in the CT units, I don't see them on the Terrorist side - I can't imagine a Balkan woman fighting along the men, a Russian woman in the Phoenix Connexion or a Pirate girl.

Already pre-ordered it but is this anything other than a reskinned css?
Yes. You should read through the CS blog and this thread to get a sense of what's new/changed.
What I said on SPUF about female models:
I'm sure the game would have no problem assigning the correct voice files to the correct faction member. As for female Ts? Look at the Anarchist/Professional/Jungle Marxist/Yakuza concept artworks. They would work out fine in those roles.
Already pre-ordered it but is this anything other than a reskinned css?
It plays a bit different, looks better, has new gamemodes, and changes up some of the weapons. It's worth getting if you liked CS:S.
As for female Ts? Look at the Anarchist/Professional/Jungle Marxist/Yakuza concept artworks. They would work out fine in those roles.
I know about them, that's why I said "sometimes". Those fit in nicely, but I can't imagine them in the examples I've made. Or maybe just selected factions could have the female models, I dunno.
I'm sure the game would have no problem assigning the correct voice files to the correct faction member.
Maybe. I'm not a coder (I want to be in the future, though) So the only possible problems are the voice lines and the hitboxes. The second one could be resolved by having a bulkier woman model with a size of a man, I guess.
Does anyone know if "gamemodes" like surf, minigames, and the like will be possible in Global Offensive? I can't imagine they won't be, but I feel like it's going to greatly influence my purchase decision.
I thought they re-enabled surfing or something? I've seen a video for it once. Minigames? Like what?
