I'm going to miss the deep wilderness feel of cs_militia, I just don't get a deep forest vibe with de_lake, not to mention I prefer the half finished old run down look of it over the clean modern cottage in de_lake.
I never played Counter-Strike before I played TF2, and one of the things that struck me about CSS when I eventually got around to playing it is that there's literally no way to play a nice vanilla game. You can't get no plugins, no mods, no custom game modes, no custom maps without starting your own game with friends or exhaustively searching through the server browser. That's one thing I will certainly not miss should I play CS:GO, matchmaking is great is this regard.

Who says cs_militia won't make a comeback?

God I hope so.
Gladly accepting an extra invite key :(
I am not sure if this is allowed, but I will trade 4 copies of SMNC Beta for CS:GO Beta.
de_lake looks like a lot the death tool finale for me
pretty sure they used the same map and modified it

the picture they used to compare was okay but why would they be like, "DID YOU SPOT BOTH TERRORISTS?" when the size of the picture is so fucking small.
the picture they used to compare was okay but why would they be like, "DID YOU SPOT BOTH TERRORISTS?" when the size of the picture is so fucking small.
And what's weirder is that the actual image is actually much bigger than that yet they chose to show it that small
There's a third terrorist in the picture

Oh wow, took me awhile but I found him

Thanks, was trying to get the non-fogged photo.
Hm, any ideas when will Valve send more beta keys ? I couldn't get one from those 5k, I really want to beta test it.

Words cannot describe my erection right now.
[editline]5th March 2012[/editline]
Like I can feel each heart beat pushing blood through my penis right now.
Can people who are not in the beta give feedback?
Why are people complanging about streamed textures ? Do they still have a bad taste left in their mouths from "RAGE"; If you want to see an engine that does it really well Check 4A engine (Metro 2033) The only thing that engine needs is to get Antialiasing.
As for FXAA, FXAA sucks and blurs everything, while SMAA actually fixes the Aliasing.

the non-fogged one looks ways better imo.
It could be worse. The fog could be green.

The point of fog isn't to enhance visuals it's to enhance gameplay
The point of fog isn't to enhance visuals it's to enhance gameplay
that's what i'm saying, in the non-fogged one you can see the third terrorist more clearly than the fogged one.
Screenshots of new wepons.

the p90 looks like a piece of poop on a black faux-leather stick.

I can see why Valve wanted to blank out the guy in the back for two reasons: the quick sweep assessment is the most obvious, and the point they'll go with when pitching it to players. If you can see both, you see neither, because they blend into the high contrast. With the fog, only one of them is contrasting, which makes it much easier to spot.
I'm also going to go out on a limb and use the Huntsman argument: it's no fun to get sniped from long range as it often frustrates and makes players feel completely helpless. Valve made a post on the TF2 blog a while back about their thoughts on this, and how they arrived at giving the sniper a bow and arrow. If you can't see the guy in the far back, odds are he will have a harder time seeing you. Therefore, engagements get a lot closer, and less people get sniped from across the map. Of course, Valve won't say this on the Counter Strike blog because there are a bunch of people that would jump up and say it throws off everything about Counter Strike, and I'm probably rambling anyway.
Honestly, all I care about are the animations. I won't be looking at the gun most of the time but nothing ticks me off more than when I'm in the middle of a gunfight to reload and see my hands spasm reloading the gun.
I swear to god, if I don't get a beta key on the next survey giveaway..... I'll.... I-...
