Looking forward to ranked matchmaking....

I'd very much like to see SSAO, but one that would ignore static meshes (map brushes, static props). So, it would only create AO only if there's a player/prop/ragdoll near a wall, etc.
That way we'd have dynamic AO for props/players/ragdolls, but still have static AO stored in the map in the form of a lightmap.
It would create a good effect when combined together.
I'm trying to get the FXAA injector to work in CS:GO. I'm following all the instructions as they're stated on the site, but nothing happens.
Am I missing something?
Can't you do that with nVidia control panel?
That is, if you have nVidia and not AMD.
The FXAA injector doesn't add FXAA to a game that doesn't have it, it exploits it. You can add color filters, sharpen filters, etc. I honestly don't like how desaturated the game looks and want to give it a bit more color to see if it looks better.
It's still not worth a possible VAC ban, I know VAC only detects cheats but sometimes it gets it wrong with things that alter anything to do with rendering and Valve won't unban because of that. As far as their TOS go, you're breaking it for using external applications to alter the game in any way.
My guess is that it's something like how the guys in C17:Episode 1 do it, where the ambient texture of the light_environment is set to whatever colour your shadows are wanted to be, whilst the light is pointed 90 degrees upwards, so that everything that isn't being covered with the dynamic lighting are being matched with the ambient texture.
well, that means they'd need to store a third version of those lightmaps then, yes?
LDR, HDR, HDR with ambient only for dynamic lighting
that's starting to be a little heavy, unless they did an optimization like they did for skyboxes (i believe L4D2 uses the same VTFs for both LDR and HDR skyboxes)
Why Valve don't just render the entire scene into a HDR rendertarget is beyond me, using separate lightmaps for HDR and LDR is pointless. Games with better HDR don't do that, so why do Valve find it necessary.

Doesn't do much good for the bsp size either...
Previous is the previous version, usk is the German version with German censoring and such I think.
That's what I heard on steam forums.
God damnit Valve, there's no need to censore CS:GO.

Well they censored HL1 for germans iirc. There were robots with oil instead of blood or something.

Was it known already that characters would have unique voices?

I know, my game is just like that. But I fixed it with some uncut patches.

Damn it doesn't work? That was the first thing I was going to try when I got a beta key, they probably have to make a specific version for it like BF3.
So how does the game play? Does it feel better than CSS?
So how does the game play? Does it feel better than CSS?
It feels like a CS for sure, just with upgraded graphics.

For computers that can't do HDR/performance reasons. Newer versions of the engine like DOTA2 don't do that I think.

But it's still using HDR buffers, it's just wasteful to use HDR lightmaps.
Zipping up my pants and putting this money back in my wallet...
Didn't we solve that problem with PCs since like ... Quake ?
Settings.
But you see... there are peole who need to turn the settings to the highest, even if their rigs cant handle those settings.
These simple minded casual gamers then go raging at the forum on how the game is unoptimized junk.

Those people have below recommended specs and no-one on such forums would give a shit.

I think you have misunderstood the term "recommended specs".

Recommended = can run on the highest settings at a decent framerate.
All I'm saying is, the idiots who try to max everything on a single core are the same people that no-one will pay attention to once they mention their computer hardware.

Call me ignorant, because I'm not 100% sure. But isn't that exactly what happened with Red Orchestra 2?
Looks like I can't play any steam games for awhile! My external harddrive failed that had all my steam games and projects. I'll reinstall it once I organize everything on my computer I guess.
Nobody can run this in decent framerate go dream
Nobody can run this in decent framerate go dream
I run it at 50-70fps with nothing but a Core 2 Duo 2.4ghz, 3GB DDR2, and a GTS 450 1GB.
That's extremely modest for PC gaming.
Got an alert today that I had something new in my inventory, got excited.
Then I realized that I had been given 3 Nuclear Dawn Guest Passes.
Overwhelmingly disappointed.

Trading three Nuclear Dawn Guest passes for CSGO woo.

Does that mean no more repetitive voices like. "Fire in the hole", "Roger that", "Negative"?

I hope so.
