I still can't figure out how people are so damn accurate in CS:S. First-bullet, maybe, but half the time it seems like people can pull off headshots while running and jumping about without breaking a sweat, while I can only get accurate shots if i'm either standing still or walking while they're a short distance away. v:v:v
I'm pretty sure I'm terrible at doing burst fire (how can you burst fire the recoil is like WAHHWBHAHBAH) but it seems when I bust about a whole magazine, the other person can spray like crazy and land a headshot on me
Shit I can't practice on Condition Zero OR CS:S right now both give me authentication errors, CS:S prob because I can't get the steam community overlay to show up, not sure about CZ since it doesn't even go to menu
restart steam fixes hl1 auth errors
restart steam fixes hl1 auth errors
I was gonna try to avoid restarting, but oh well. [editline]20th March 2012[/editline] Wow steam's a dick I restarted it and now it wants me to restart for updates :v: [editline]20th March 2012[/editline]
I still can't figure out how people are so damn accurate in CS:S. Over time you can train this so you hit near the head. Jumping is a whole different story. You have a massive spread when you jump and you can't accurately estimate where the bullets are going to go, so this is only good for very close range. Usually the only time besides that scenario where you would jump and shoot would be going around corners where enemies may be. That situation is just pure luck if they are far away, it's pretty much only used to surprise them so that you could have a better shot.

He quit 5 seconds after.
Anyone think its possible for the community to be allowed to make custom weapons for up[dates in this game and have it use the workshop? it doesnt seem like a bad thing to me as long as people follow a set amount of rules when making weapons.

Am I the only one who would like to see different hostage models? The ones they're using are ok, but I'd rather see civilians for Italy, office workers for Office, etc.
Looks good.
Can someone explain to me why hitboxes don't follow the player model exactly?
Just killed a chicken with a flashbang :(
Can someone explain to me why hitboxes don't follow the player model exactly?
because then you end up with the bullet missing the player by .0000001 of an inch and it gets too realistic
Can someone explain to me why hitboxes don't follow the player model exactly?
Because they're boxes, ray-plane intersection tests are a thousand times cheaper than using high poly meshes for hit detection.
Because they're boxes, ray-plane intersection tests are a thousand times cheaper than using high poly meshes for hit detection.
Would it be too hard to simply break the current hitboxes into smaller hitboxes so that they fit the model better?
Because they're boxes, ray-plane intersection tests are a thousand times cheaper than using high poly meshes for hit detection.
but is it really that demanding to have more detailed hitboxes?
Because they're boxes, ray-plane intersection tests are a thousand times cheaper than using high poly meshes for hit detection.
this and people would use just 1 model, because his "hitmodel" would be better then others
this and people would use just 1 model, because his "hitmodel" would be better then others
good point, the CS:GO ones don't look too bad now that I think about it, it's not like i'd be aiming at his fingers
but is it really that demanding to have more detailed hitboxes?
Yes, if you think Source MP client-server latency / hit detection is bad already then imagine it with super detailed hit box collisions. In short, it'd be like Battlefield 3 but with peashooters.
Oh boy that feel when I randomly jumped out from a corner with AWP and managed to get a lucky headshot mid-air on some pro guy who was killing everyone on my team. He quit 5 seconds after.
some guy with an AK takes out 4 guys on my team (all with automatics, I'm the sniper so I'm like, you guys take care of him, I've got an awp, I'm not good at this). they all die Me: fuck this whip out my P2000, run in that shit, text book double tap to the skull, we win. Try the same next round, I get an awp to the chest.
How do you pros maintain accuracy while strafing? I have a problem when using bullpup in CS:S... I almost always stop moving and crouch to get the tiny crosshair.
Sheesh, so many scrubs in this thread (j/k). Walking around corners has it's uses, but it's bad form, and a bit noobish. Makes you awp bait. No but seriously, maintaining accuracy while strafing is REALLY SIMPLE it's a simple technique called "strafe canceling" Basically, when you run out sideways from a corner, you're holding A or D. Before you fire, "tap" the key in the opposite direction, D or A. If you do this right, you'll bring yourself to a DEAD STOP, without accelerating in the opposite direction. Practice this. Since your cone of fire tightens REALLY fast when you strafe cancel, if you strafe cancel, then pop off a couple shots, they'll be more accurate. There's a couple good videos on youtube of CAL pros doing this, but I can't find them.
Oh my. That seems extremely useful.

CS:GO should have a bank robbery scenario map. Kinda like "The Heist"
CS:GO should have a bank robbery scenario map. Kinda like "The Heist"
cs_bank sounds good. [editline]21st March 2012[/editline]
Oh my. That seems extremely useful.
it is.
cs_bank sounds good.
I thought they had revealed it as "de_bank", instead.
Quick! We must rob de_bank!
