Borderlands - A Sci-Fi shooter with RPG elements and a lot of guns - Games

Just how big is the game world? I know I've asked this before, but I figured that since more people have played it I'll get a better answer.

Can you co-op right from the start, as level 1 without having completed claptrap tutorials, or do you have to had all those done and be level 5 with your character-specific skill?

In your opinons, what's the most fun class? Right now I'm leaning towards the Siren. Soldier looks too boring and standard, the hunter looks cool but I don't like the idea of having a pet, and the beserker doesn't look fun since he uses his fists a lot.

Also; combat rifles. Although I may try Lilith and Mordicai next because they also look pretty good. I will eventually play as all classes, but Brick will probably be last because I HATE CLOSE COMBAT. Lility is more of a sneaky, hit and run character, while Brick is a all out balls to the wall, fuck up everything that gets in my way sort of man.

Do different classes use different types of guns? I know the hunter snipes, but what do the others use?
