[QUOTE=MadCatMkII;27323343]I did a fresh install of SoC, used Hispano to patch to 1.004, and installed SGM for SoC. Now, when I launch the game, it just crashes right away
[code]Expression : wave&&wave->length()
Function : CSoundRender_Source::LoadWave
File : E:\stalker\patch_1_0004\xrSound\SoundRender_Source_loader.cpp
Line : 65
Description : Can't open wave file:
Arguments : c:\program files (x86)\thq\s.t.a.l.k.e.r. - shadow of chernobyl\gamedata\sounds\characters_voice\scenario\video\intro_gsc_wp_l.ogg

Could be wrong, but add "-nointro" to the STALKER shortcut.

Holy shit it worked! Thanks!

SoC SGM is amazing
[QUOTE=Calkkuna;27315203]Uh, what. It seems that my CoP just turned looking fantastic without me doing anything, it's like I have AA forced even though I don't have :v:
I get 30 fps all the time too, what the heck?
Took some screenies:

You have a 5770, right? Does that support the "free" AMD AA? You might have that on.

Hmm, I just installed the newest drivers so that might be true.
7 hours into CoP I have achieved the following... (spoiler tagged for your inconvinience)
[sp]got an exoskeleton
completed most of the ecologist questline, just need to deal with mercs
got the Clear sky armour
got the special SVDMKII from nimble
Wiped out the merc base
gotten the monolith guys to join duty
killed 80 stalkers
killed 130 mutants
found 80 artifacts
completed the beard quest chain
completed 80-ish quests overall[/sp]
And I haven't even FOUND the way to pripyat
[editline]10th January 2011[/editline]
at the parking lot, I saw 2 zombies in rookie jackets with Pmms kill a bloodsucker and 7 pseudodogs
[editline]10th January 2011[/editline]
my difficulty is the 2nd highest one
I prefer wind of Freedom over the Clear Sky suit, but the helmet is great.
[QUOTE=That_Crazy_Gman;27322796]What red crates? This is the wast processing plant

[editline]10th January 2011[/editline]
Found the crate, ther's nothing on it[/QUOTE]Oh, that's the wrong place, i'm referring to the workshop to the left of the circus anomaly.

It's not so much a mod as it is a showcase of all kinds of silly, buggy, hastily made shit.

No you didn't.
Hey Thorny, any plans for different difficulties in Redux 2.0? You could do a IWBTG and make Master the easiest :v:
Hardest still needs to be WIZARD :colbert:
Master > Wizard > Redux > WHY
On WHY difficulty, you must take anti-rad every 20 minutes or the Zone's background radiation will turn your insides inside-out and you will die.
[editline]10th January 2011[/editline]
Oh and anti-rad is incredibly rare and costs 1000RU.
I get really bad performance with SGM installed, I'm running it all on lowest but it still sucks. Is there any way to boost or fix that? Because when I ran Redux it worked fine.

It is very RAM intensive because of all the stuff it adds. How much RAM do you have?

Oh, I only have 2, will have to get some more then. Been planning to get more anyway.
[editline]10th January 2011[/editline]
And thanks for the help.

I question your wizardry, it's about being hard and insane beyond reason or logic, it's just supposed to kill you dead.
I sold the special snoiper roifle svd for a vintar BC, did I make the right call?
I always loved that family of weapons and the SVD is so heavy and feels overkill. Good buy.
The VSS is real nice. I didn't like the drop of it that much and beyond a certain distance, the bullets just bounced everywhere. Other than that though, beautiful gun.
[QUOTE=Blaberry;27326349]I question your wizardry, it's about being hard and insane beyond reason or logic, it's just supposed to kill you dead.[/QUOTE]That's not fun in the slightest. If you want to bash your head against a brick wall, there are cheaper, real-life alternatives.
Throughout my gaming life i've been looking for a game that gives a decent challenge without being bullshitty. Modded STALKER is about the closest i've ever come to that goal, and it's still too far off, mainly due to the severely flawed AI; the one part of the Xray engine of which there is little we can actually do apart from modify variables. People soup just feels like a step backwards a few thousands kilometres in that regard. Saying "It's meant to be bad" just sounds like a massive cop-out.
I really like the VAL and VSS. That you have to track and lead targets at range because of the slow boolets makes me feel that much better about scoring headshots on moving targets.
[QUOTE=JoeSibilant;27326592]I really like the VAL and VSS. That you have to track and lead targets at range because of the slow boolets makes me feel that much better about scoring headshots on moving targets.[/QUOTE]It also seems to be the only gun who's suppressor is actually worth a damn. There's literally no point to silencers on the other guns, i've found; range is all you need to outwit the AI.
I think the difference here is the goals of both the mods and the players; I'm not looking for an average challenge, I'm looking for grade A bullshit which I can do nothing about and have to conquer by sheer skill and a hint of luck, as average challenges have become too dull and the "spice" of People soup is just the way I like it; crazy.

Install Clear Sky and slap some SPARTAN 11:11 on that shit. It's super-balls-fucking-difficult, but it's also really fun. Protip: there's no shame in starting on a low difficulty and turning it up once you get better gear--I'm pretty sure the Swamps are impossible on anything higher than Stalker difficulty.
I've done the swamps in spartan on master :colbert:
wat
Well it wasn't that hard, and it was lacking in the insanity department.
