I absolutely hate it when Filefront says an old file is being "processed" like it had just been uploaded. That's just another way for them to say that, being as they are legendarily incompetent, they've lost the fucking file.
So, I am unable to download the CoP Redux patch because of it :/
Funny thing is I uploaded it directly to ModDB and the motherfuckers uploaded it to Filefront without even asking me, to save themselves bandwidth.
Cunts.
It was midday. The weather, as it was more often than not, was overcast and depressing. Kerenskey was in Garbage, looking for artifacts and curbstomping any bandits unlucky enough to get in his way. The stalker was pissed.
The previous day had been one of the worst in his time in the zone. Today WAS the worst.
Kerenskey was, at heart, a gambler and a risk-taker. While this allowed him to make a better profit than most stalkers, it also meant that he tended to make spectacular losses in card games and bets. He had lost plenty in the past. He bore it stoically, he knew what he was getting into. But he could never have anticipated anything like what he had lost yesterday.
Kerenskey could still feel the shock, the humiliation, the outright indignation that had hit him yesterday. It had been a sure thing. There was no way, none at all that he could have lost that bet! That alone was enough to put him close to the edge. But when Tima, the asshole he had made the bet with, gloated, rubbed salt in the wound, Kerenskey had slammed down the money and stormed out of the bar.
The bet had been made a few days back. Tima had first come to the bar a few hours before dawn, and right from the start had made a nusiance of himself with his cocky, aggressive attitude. By lunch, most of the stalkers were half-tempted to put a bullet or ten in the kid. Kerenskey had a better idea. He would make him a bet that he couldn't lose, but make it look square.
"Hey, Tinkle, or whatever your name is! You think you're hot stuff or something? Drag your ass over here and I'll show you why you're not!" Tima, rising to the insults, obliged. "You think you can call me that asshole? We'll see who's laughing when I pound that slab of turkey meat you call a face into a pulp!"
"I got a better idea." Kerenskey said. "I've got this stash, see? I'll give you the rough coordinates, and if you find it in three days, I'll give you 50,000 Rubles in addition to whatever you find there."
"You're on old man! Huh, this is like taking candy from a baby!"
"My thoughts exactly" thought Kerenskey as he put a stash marker on Tima's PDA.
"There you go. A village over by the old military base. Go knock yourself out, rookie."
As Tima left, Snitch glanced at him. "A village over by the Freedom base? Isn't that the one that's overrun with bloodsuckers?"
"The very same." Kerenskey chuckled. "Even if by some miracle he manages to fight off those nightmares, he won't find the stash. It's... very well hidden, to say the least."
"How'd you get it there without getting killed?" Barkeep asked.
"Easy. I hid it before the bloodsuckers moved in. Of course, I can't get it out now. Anyway, whatever happens, Tima will be doing us a favor. If he dies, we're rid of him. If he manages to kill the bloodsuckers, that's fewer of those monsters to kill innocent stalkers."
"What if he finds the stash?" Trapper asked.
"He won't. Trust me. It's very well hidden." Kerenskey responded.
Two days later, Tima walked in with a smug expression on his face and some very good loot in his pack. Kerenskey was stunned.
"Wha-... how...?"
"Thought I wouldn't make it past your little friends, did you old man? Also thought I wouldn't think to dig in front of the doorstep of the house at the far south end of the village? Well you're wrong on both counts! How's it feel to realize you're a complete loser? Cough up the money retard!"
Kerenskey snapped out of his thoughts and back to reality when his PDA rang. It was a message from Barkeep. "Listen, Kerenskey, I got a job for you that you're gonna love. You know that asshole, Tima? Several stalkers just reported that they've lost valuable items last night. On top of that, Tima left just before dawn. He was acting suspiciously. The Warrant Officer wants him alive, and he's willing to cough up a fair amount."
If you guys like it, I'll continue it.
It's working now, once ModDb stopped redirecting me to Filefront.
so what is actually going on down there, in the greatest and yet the weirdest Russian Ultra-Mega-Mod?
Shitloads of features. I can't list all the features, just cause there's so much:
-30 areas
-12 factions
-shitloads of new guns, and you can use your fists
-dozens of hours worth of quests
-shitloads of armor
-some weapons have been retextured to look badass
-adds more enemies to the main quest-related areas (the labs, etc.)
-includes AMK 1.4 and ABC inferno
and alot more, this entire mod is 4 gigabytes in size, and I'm discovering more and more of the features and I just got done with the first lab
When do you reckon you'll be done with that? I've just passed X18 in terms of AMK:SE.
I'm not sure, I still have to translate SGM first
That was good, I like the story. More!

I know, but I was talking about the dialouge. Care to remember something simple that hasn't been translated?

Are the levels any good in NS i.e. decent quality? I've seen Darkscape, and that wasn't that interesting tbh, and i'm assuming Dead City is the same one as in the old storyline restoration mod. I've not had an opportunity to see any of the other new levels, unfortunately; my patience didn't last out that long.
Finland is located at the eastern border of Europe, hell, most of the Western world still consider Finland as former Eastern-block country (which it wasn't).
It's not the geographical location that matters, and we certainly aren't like most eastern European countries.
A little update on the comic.
I was drawing the interiors of the bar when it struck me. I shouldn't make a comic like that, I should make a game.
Gotta just say sorry to Zezibesh because this new idea has drilled itself deep in my head and sealed the hole.
A stalker game made in Java. Sliiightly similiar to Minecraft except for withouth the blocks. Don't you guys worry, It's gonna look like Stalker (kinda) (allthough there are gonna be floaty hands for practical reasons).
Open worlds familiar from the original game (allthough altered for practicality again) with things you recognize.
Main Features:
- Dynamic AI, something that makes stalker special is the AI that actually has the capacity to do something on it's own. (the AI is going to be reliant on using a lot of AI hint nodes)
- Taking full advantage of the technical limitations of a engine based on Java. (low poly models, no fancy graphical effects, simulated physics, et.c.)
- Being also an art project to show off that you don't need superb graphics to make a nice looking game.
- A dynamic quest system (missions ranging from fetch quests to assassinations and assaults and factions specific quests).
Other Features:
- A rank and reputation system based on the one in Shadow of Chernobyl (having a reputation of a serial killer will raise the chance of someone being sent to kill you or coming for revenge, the assassin sent might be another player).
- Good ol' mutants (ranging from civilian zombies and snorks to Psuedogiants and Chimeras).
- Faction Wars (Factions have their regular skirmishes and they take over different outposts)
- Vehicles with an alternative for regular physics engine based vehicle physics
- Last but not least MULTIPLAYER (and the biggest reason it should be made)
Why are you saying sorry to me?
If you guys like it, I'll continue it.
I like it. Some sentences were a bit awkwardly worded but overall it's great. I'd love to see you continue it.
Because I got something else at hand than making that nice story of yours to a comic.
I didn't know you were making a comic, but I don't think it would have worked very well anyway. The story was mostly dialogue. I need to improve my environment descriptions as you will probably see in the second part.
What do these red and yellow cannisters do, are they AMK's Redux car battery or something? There's a lot of them around though, they might be something important :saddowns:

They explode when shot
Durr, how did I not think that the moment I seen a red barrel covered in warning labels in a video game?

Just got past the cave in People Soup, how do you get a knife or use fists I feel a bit stupid shooting open boxes
Thanks Sgt_Doom
They explode when shot
I think they may also be used in making flamethrower fuel.
Just got past the cave in People Soup, how do you get a knife or use fists I feel a bit stupid shooting open boxes
You have to buy them off sid. Personally, I think it's absolutely moronic one has to "buy" a set of fists, but they're cheap.
The night was dark, but the stars were shining brightly thanks to the distinct lack of light pollution in the area surrounding the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. Humanity had all but deserted the 30 kilometer exclusion zone, but the same could not be said for the 'wildlife' that had flourished within its boundaries.
Oleg could hear the howls of the blind dogs as always – an almost constant reminder of where he was. It kept him on his toes.
Dressed in a high-tech full-body protective outfit known to his kind as a 'SEVA Suit', Oleg was comfortable as he slowly made his way off the main road toward the swamp known as Lake Yantar, recycled air blowing gently in his face.
Doing his best to be quiet, he was supremely conscious of every branch in his path, and winced every time the small rucksack on his back clinked against his self-contained air supply bottles.
He had passed through the Wild Territory relatively unhindered – a small swarm of Tuskano the only real thing between him and the tunnel to Yantar. Oleg didn't like this tunnel, filled as it was with Burner anomalies. He thought he knew the safe path through them well enough now (as he had passed through the tunnel enough times previously), but he always seemed to manage to misplace a foot or fail to crouch low enough somewhere, and was punished for his mistake each time by a jet of pure flame erupting from seemingly thin air.
Thanks to his finely crafted suit however, no lasting damage had been done to him as of yet, but the cost of repairing his suit each time he fucked up seemed to always be increasing – he vowed to confront Ratchet when he got back to Rostok.
Oleg had been tasked by a mysterious and rather sickly looking guy in a suit like his own in the 100 Rads, to travel to Yantar and retrieve a small package. He was promised that as long as he got and returned it to the man safely he would be paid a handsome 50,000 Rubles. He was however explicitly warned not to look inside it, under any circumstances. Not one to refuse a well-paid job, Oleg had accepted the task without much question, and was now looking at its supposed location on his PDA – the screen horrifyingly bright in the dank darkness of the vicinity of one of the Zone's most unpleasant areas.
Oleg confirmed his position and that of the item, and put away his PDA – he in fact thought he could see it now – a small metal box with the faint moonlight glinting off of its surface, sitting at the base of a tree on one of the small mounds rising out of the swampy remains of the once proud lake.
Suddenly Oleg thought he saw something else – a very quick glimpse of light a few feet above the ground towards his right hand side, but after concentrating intently for a full thirty seconds, did not see anything out of the ordinary. Another mystery of the Zone, he mused to himself.
Making his way through the low lying water (a nuisance more than anything – it slowed him down slightly, but did not enter his suit) Oleg approached his target – he was right, this was his objective, a cuboidal metal box with carrying handle, typical of those used by his kind as stashes in remote locations.
Careful not to make too much noise as he left the water, he slowly made his way toward the prize, already deciding what he would spend his 50,000RU on. The thought popped into his mind however, of taking a quick look inside the box. 50,000 was a lot to offer for a simple task like this, and Oleg wondered what was inside that was so valuable as to deserve a reward like that.
Greed overwhelmed his conscience, and he kneeled down beside the box, placing his rifle on the ground gently. His gloved hands fumbled a little for the latch holding the lid down, and for a split second Oleg wondered if this was really such a good idea.
However, as he thought this, his hands had acted independently and were already lifting the lid. As the cover rose, a soft blue light spilled out of the box, bathing him in a ghostly glow. As his eyes adjusted to the light, Oleg took a sharp intake of breath at seeing its source.
Suddenly, Oleg felt a force hard against his back, and was spun around extremely quickly to face the other way. The tentacled face of a fully-grown Bloodsucker stared back at him, hunger in its eyes. Oleg scrambled for his weapon, but the bloodsucker knocked him to the ground and ripped off his helmet, a loud hiss escaping the protective suit as the pressure within equalized suddenly with that of the outside world.
Nearby, a small group of blind dogs pricked their ears as a blood-curdling, guttural scream pierced the night – their eyes may no longer work, but their ears still did.
Thoughts?
I think they may also be used in making flamethrower fuel.
Flamethrowers are awesome, but in the zone you'll either be too far away or you'll get mauled by something that's now on fire.
Glitch how goes ye progress.
Why do you guys tease me so? :smithicide:
Thoughts?
I like it. You're good at describing actions and environments, but there was slight repetition of the main character's name. Since he was the only named character in the story, you could have used other words.
Flamethrowers are awesome, but in the zone you'll either be too far away or you'll get mauled by something that's now on fire.
Seems like a perfect improvised weapon for Duty to use in cleaning out mutant lairs.
[editline]13th January 2011[/editline]
Thoughts?
Bit less repetition of the main character's name and "his kind", but otherwise awesome.
Only used it twice, but it's a weirdly memory-sticking phrase...
Thoughts?
nice!
Would be cool to have a flamethrower like the one in Metro 2033 set up in front of mutant tunnels
Flamethrowers are awesome, but in the zone you'll either be too far away or you'll get mauled by something that's now on fire.
Well that's if you have the shitty version of a flamethrower. With a REAL flamethrower you would be able to cook a Monolithian hiding in the Brain Scorcher from the very comfort of your hole at the Barrier.
Thoughts?
I'm trying to read this but I'm getting lost halfway through lines, seems good but I should probably get some sleep then read it.
