Flamethrowers kill very slowly; often in Vietnam, someone would die only after 2 minutes of being completely on fire :/ It would make excellent sense in flushing out lairs, though; as in confined spaces like caves, flamethrowers have the ability to burn out all the oxygen in there; suffocating anything deeper inside without needing to roast them. Anything that runs out gets shot by the flamethrower user's buddies.
Yeah, burning's a bad way to go. You usually die of suffocation along with the horrible pain, unless you somehow survive only to later die of infection :smith:
[img_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/allignment.jpg[/img_thumb] Something I made because I was bored. I wasn't sure where to put like half of the factions, so please edit it if you are smarter
Shameless repost

Even the Chimeras would probably start flailing around and try to extinguish the fire.

In any case, it won't stop a charge quite like buckshot to the face does; like I said, it would be most useful in lair-purging.
Imagine the sounds that a bloodsucker, or a controller would make while on fire :ohdear: I'd be pretty horrified

Dogs, Bloodsuckers and Snorks would probably be the easiest to deal with.
I'd assume controllers and Burers would be easier to handle when burning. Being on fire tends to wreck concentration.
Imagine the sounds that a bloodsucker, or a controller would make while on fire :ohdear: I'd be pretty horrified
That actually gives me an idea. Imagine a controller in pain. What happens to their psychic aura? Do they emit a psychic, agonized wail felt by living things for miles around, like when you shut down the Yantar emitter? Let's expand that idea. What if their aura were to reflect their emotional and physical state? If the controller is not under attack i.e. has not spotted enemies, perhaps they cause the player to see illusions, albeit harmless, like ghostly stalkers; people, items and artifacts that don't exist. If they're angered i.e. spot an enemy, those illusions turn hostile. The voices whisper insidiously, trying to get into the player's mind. If they're wounded, the illusions start to falter as the controller struggles to remain conscious. The ghostly visages of people flicker like holograms, metamorphose into odd, disturbing blobs of organic matter. The voices seem to be alarmed, worried. The world starts to shake and crack. In their final death throes, the illusions disappear, the voices scream like a million-strong choir of pain, and the sky seems to ignite spontaneously as though a nuclear bomb had detonated. Once the impact of the death wail fades, the world is as it once was, though the player will be fairly shaken for a bit. I wonder what roasted blind dog tastes like? :v: [editline]13th January 2011[/editline] I might actually try my hand at a short story involving the controller idea, though it'll probably go the same way as my mod making; in other words a chronic lack of motivation kills all that I create :smith:
Holy shit, there's a scripted event in NS that disables your hud and your inventory, and only way to fix it is to go to the Bar
The bandits steal your eyes and pockets?
Apparently my PDA malfunctioned, and my rucksack's zipper broke. And it cost me 12000 rubles to fix it. The fuck is up with these prices....

I hated how easy they made them in CoP

Exactly why I'm reluctant to try those crazy ass Russian mods.

Mainly, I was planning on it being a stalker having a random encounter with a controller, fights it, comes out on top, but severely shaken. Stalker's walking through a heavily wooded area, looking for a bunch of artifacts someone said there was there. Subtle things start to seem off e.g. all the ambient sound is silenced e.g. no sound of the wind, despite it blowing; no wildlife noises and so on. Stalker keeps going. Things get weirder; stalker hears people talking, guitar playing, ahead of him. Goes towards the source of the sound, sees campfire light behind the foliage. Sees stalkers around a barrel fire, talking, laughing and examining artifacts. He goes towards them, puts his hand one the shoulder of one of them, to introduce himself. His hand goes through, the people disappear. Except for one. Opposite the fire is the controller, legs crossed, deep in thought. Seems to be dressed in stalker clothes, so the person doesn't know it's a controller yet. Stalker asks him who he is, what's happening. Controller looks up from underneath the hood of his illusion clothing. The controller's face is illuminated by the fire, allowing the stalker to see what it really is. Almost immediately, the whispering starts in his head. Stalker starts to back away, tries to reach for his gun but is hit by a severe migraine. Controller does the face pull thing, slams the stalker into a tree. Forest fires start, the voices start telling the stalker horrible, insidious things. The voices tell the stalker to surrender, submit, suicide. Stalker manages to regain composure, hides behind the tree, readies his gun. Pops out, gets a shot off on the controller, before it does the face pull again. A flock of tushkano phantoms appear from the side, stalker empties a mag into the phantoms. Reloads, pops out to face the controller, only to realise the controller is right in front of him. The voices reach a painful crescendo, overwhelming his thought. Ordering him, coercing him, persuading him to put the gun to his mouth. He struggles, but eventually does. He pulls the trigger, but the gun jams. This catches the controller off-guard for a moment, which he uses to plunge his knife deep in the controller's chest. The voices scream in absolute agony, the forest is wreathed entirely in flame, flashes in the sky. Stalker stumbles backwards, as the illusions intensify. The controller stumbles back, clutching the knife in it's heart. Flame emits from it's mouth and eyes(if you've seen Stargate, know of the Goa'uld torture stick, which they poke someone with and lights comes out of their mouth and eyes? Something like that happens), as it's head faces the sky and it falls backwards. The moment it impacts the ground, a shockwave flows through the forest. The phantoms die in the shockwave, like people caught in a nuclear blast. Monolith phantom squads are blown away, mutant phantoms try to run away but fail. The wave purges the forest fire illusion, silences the voices and knock the stalker unconscious. He wakes up to a normal forest, with a massive migraine. He takes some meds, grabs his gun, pulls the knife from the controller and painfully gets up, to return to the Bar. He finds the Duty guys removing corpses from the Bar, apparently the guy who told him the story shot up the place; they suspect him being a Monolith sleeper agent, but he's likely one who submitted to the controller. He goes in and speaks to the relatively unscathed barman. Well, that's the basic storyline outline I came up with; feel free to edit it as you please.

For me it is. Might be due to 1.7ghz processor thought.
For the moment, i'm going to work on getting the LURK weapons to be standalone i.e. easier to merge into mods at my leisure.
story.
You need to send that in to GSC for Stalker 2 or something. An encounter like that would be pants-shittingly awesome.

Has anyone seen a network game in SOC that uses the 1.0005 version?

Am I the only one who can't stand playing AMK? The view is so wavey that it's impossible to shoot without the damn crosshairs, it's like I'm already drunk. And the damn view keeps spazzing out and I can't find the damn file to fix it.

If you're referring to the postprocess effect when you get hurt, that can be disabled in the installation, when you choose what options you want. [editline]14th January 2011[/editline] Anyways, i'm going off to sleep (with a bucket on my head, of course) as it's 1 AM here. Good stalkan to you all :D
So I'm trying to get into X18, but I don't have any ammo. I am forced to resort to knifing zombies and snorks, and checking the bodies for any ammo. I put up this huge fight, struggling to survive, using my ammo wisely. After it all, I am left with 1 shotgun shell, and 7 9X18 rounds. I walk through the door.......and get teleported into the swamps, surrounded by snorks

Where do I get AMK Siderovich?
