I had just finished selling some goods to Sidorovich when I walk out of his bunker to notice everyone in Cordon panicking. Everyone in the base ran towards the fence and huddled together, probably for protection :v:. A couple hundred meters away from them was Nimble, running towards the military outposts, brandishing his pistol like a mad man.
I chased after him, trying to stand in front of his path so that he would realize that he was running into certain death. He wouldn't listen to me, but I knew I couldn't let him go alone. So we ran forward, managing to take down four of the soldiers. I hid behind a tree, reloading my weapon. When I peeked out, I saw Nimble running towards the two tanks that guarded the passage. I yelled, "Nimble, NO!". But it was too late, the pigs had slaughtered that poor rookie.
I wanted to run out into the open and drag his body back to camp...no man should be left to rot in the zone. The other part of me knew that I would just be gunned down.
Sometimes I think back to the day I found Nimble. He was hurt badly, lying on the ground near a storage container. I gave him a med-kit and he told me a story of how he had survived a blowout and a snork. Nimble was a good man and a good 'friend'.

T-76 or T-80 tanks?

I haven't gotten much farther than that, as a large amount of mutants, including bloodsuckers, dogs, pseudodogs, tushkanos, chimeras, and izloms instantly pop out of nowhere and eat my face
Wow, that looks really cool.

Just occurred to me--forgot Cordon in CoP, I want Clear Sky Red Forest!
Feel free to have a crack at it if you like.
Mainly, I was planning on it being a stalker having a random encounter with a controller, fights it, comes out on top, but severely shaken.
Stalker's walking through a heavily wooded area, looking for a bunch of artifacts someone said there was there. Subtle things start to seem off e.g. all the ambient sound is silenced e.g. no sound of the wind, despite it blowing; no wildlife noises and so on. Stalker keeps going.
Things get weirder; stalker hears people talking, guitar playing, ahead of him.
Goes towards the source of the sound, sees campfire light behind the foliage. Sees stalkers around a barrel fire, talking, laughing and examining artifacts. He goes towards them, puts his hand one the shoulder of one of them, to introduce himself. His hand goes through, the people disappear. Except for one.
Opposite the fire is the controller, legs crossed, deep in thought. Seems to be dressed in stalker clothes, so the person doesn't know it's a controller yet. Stalker asks him who he is, what's happening. Controller looks up from underneath the hood of his illusion clothing.
The controller's face is illuminated by the fire, allowing the stalker to see what it really is. Almost immediately, the whispering starts in his head. Stalker starts to back away, tries to reach for his gun but is hit by a severe migraine.
Controller does the face pull thing, slams the stalker into a tree. Forest fires start, the voices start telling the stalker horrible, insidious things. The voices tell the stalker to surrender, submit, suicide. Stalker manages to regain composure, hides behind the tree, readies his gun. Pops out, gets a shot off on the controller, before it does the face pull again.
A flock of tushkano phantoms appear from the side, stalker empties a mag into the phantoms. Reloads, pops out to face the controller, only to realise the controller is right in front of him.
The voices reach a painful crescendo, overwhelming his thought. Ordering him, coercing him, persuading him to put the gun to his mouth. He struggles, but eventually does. He pulls the trigger, but the gun jams. This catches the controller off-guard for a moment, which he uses to plunge his knife deep in the controller's chest.
The voices scream in absolute agony, the forest is wreathed entirely in flame, flashes in the sky. Stalker stumbles backwards, as the illusions intensify. The controller stumbles back, clutching the knife in it's heart. Flame emits from it's mouth and eyes(if you've seen Stargate, know of the Goa'uld torture stick, which they poke someone with and lights comes out of their mouth and eyes? Something like that happens), as it's head faces the sky and it falls backwards. The moment it impacts the ground, a shockwave flows through the forest.
The phantoms die in the shockwave, like people caught in a nuclear blast. Monolith phantom squads are blown away, mutant phantoms try to run away but fail. The wave purges the forest fire illusion, silences the voices and knock the stalker unconscious.
He wakes up to a normal forest, with a massive migraine. He takes some meds, grabs his gun, pulls the knife from the controller and painfully gets up, to return to the Bar.
He finds the Duty guys removing corpses from the Bar, apparently the guy who told him the story shot up the place; they suspect him being a Monolith sleeper agent, but he's likely one who submitted to the controller. He goes in and speaks to the relatively unscathed barman.
Well, that's the basic storyline outline I came up with; feel free to edit it as you please.
Woah. Love the concept, let's see what Thorny cooks up.
[editline]14th January 2011[/editline]
Oh he already wrote it, derp
is there a way i can bump up trader's prices so when i sell shit to him i get atleast double or triple the money? because selling 5 guns in good condition for 600 is just fucking dumb, especially when a medkit costs 600. (OL2.2 SHoC)
[editline]14th January 2011[/editline]
found it! gamedata\config\misc\barman_buy.ltx
now i get LODS OF EMONE when i sell my shit
I decided to play with the spawn menu in CoP. 50 duty, 90 exo zombies, 30 freedomers, 20 rookie loners, 9 monolith with gauss rifles and 15 pseudogiants fighting in the bloodsucker lair, the bloodsuckers woke up, and got angry. The only survivor was
A rookie stalker, Clutching a gauss rifle in his hands. now invincible AA cannon is a real AA cannon with that gun. I then proceeded to give him my fully upgraded exo (plus 100 gauss rifle ammo).
Here's the first part of my attempt at Doom's story idea!
If you like it, I'll finish it tomorrow as I'm really tired right now. Probably detectable in the latter half of this first part to be honest.
+ 1

Clear Sky Red Forest was the best fucking Red Forest.
Was hellish for me though since there was no trader nearby and I barely had any ammo left, only had that Clear Sky suit as well. And the ammo problem didn't help me much when I helped taking back the bridge, Foolishly I had used all my ammo for my vss when suddenly I got the message about snipers on the hill, had loads of ammo for my shotgun though.
Didn't make it much better that there was bloodsuckers, pseudodogs and everything in that forest.
Anyone knows if theres a trader where you can sell stuff near a big warehouse where you help 2 stalkers fight off a bunch of black cloak guys?
It's about 300 meters more or less after you see a stalker being held up by 3 black cloak guys, near a scrapyard full of helicopters and trucks where you help 2 other stalkers fight off a bunch of incoming black cloak guys.
I'm carrying a dead body with like 50kg of weight or more in weapons to sell and I can't find a trader to sell them all. If I put them in my bag, I wont be able to even walk.
And yes, I'm pretty new at this.

OK, first of all those 'black cloak dudes' are bandits. They're assholes, so good for you for killing them.
Second, don't worry about the guns. You'll get the best money by picking up artifacts (those glowy things bobbing around on the ground) and selling them.
Thirdly, you're not going to find a trader for a while, so once again get rid of the guns.

nope, you have to go back to the cordon, but you cant carry bodies between zones.

Hey guys, pretty much beat the game in AMK, on my laptop so I can't play CS or CoP or any graphic-intensive mods like LURK. Should I try another mod or do some crazy shit in AMK?
can someone throw me a CoP unpacker link?

OL2.2? poopie soup?
I uninstalled Redux, kept getting raped by pseudodogs.
can someone suggest a good overhaul mod? preferably one which adds stuff to do if you decide to stay in the zone.

VERY WELL.
Will post screenshots in a bit.
is the SGM in the resperitory translated?
yes
translated well
will it work with minor tweak mods? (i.e changed carry weight)
[editline]14th January 2011[/editline]
I love the spawn menu,
1.spawn 50 smoke grenades
2.toss at bandits
3.watch them scramble as you fire the RPG you just spawned at them
4.spawn 15 dutyers with PKMs
5.?????
6.PROFIT!
Okay, what the shit. Every time I kill someone in the Bar area, I crash with this error:
Expression : fatal error
Function : CScriptEngine::lua_error
File : E:\stalker\sources\trunk\xr_3da\xrGame\script_engine.cpp
Line : 73
Description : <no expression>
Arguments : LUA error: ...ow of chernobyl\gamedata\scripts\xr_motivator.script:244: attempt to index field 'actor' (a nil value)
So looks like a Bar massacre is out of the question. Suggestions?

Really? Oh man... I talked to a guy once but exited the "talking" screen. I think he had a trade option, but now he doesn't says anything anymore.
So those are bandits huh?... Little bastards...
What artifacts? The only things I see glowing on the ground are what I think they are radiation or whatever, you get close, it beeps more and then WHAM WHAM and health goes down.
I'm very green at this huh? Just started playing it a while ago finally after buying it months and months ago and it turned out pretty nicely actually.
No no, artifacts are actual objects lying around. The odd distortions in the air you were talking about are anomalies, and should be avoided. If you haven't found any artifacts yet, that's OK. You'll most likely be seeing a LOT of them in the next area (follow your quest arrow).

Are you running AMK:SE?
[editline]14th January 2011[/editline]
I think I'm just going to give ArsenOL a try.
Are you running AMK:SE?
Put it together myself, but it's essentially exactly the same.
I naded the Bar, worked perfectly fine until I killed the barman, as expected.
Here's my xr_motivator.script; backup yours first before replacing it with this, I think it might fix your problem.
http://filesmelt.com/dl/xr_motivator.script
Oop, too late. Oh well, I'll do it in OL later.
gonna start my game of SGM in a minute
[editline]14th January 2011[/editline]
crap, where do I put Kingo's shaders?
Apparently my PDA malfunctioned, and my rucksack's zipper broke. And it cost me 12000 rubles to fix it. The fuck is up with these prices....
12k roubles, is like £250 or like $450 Think about it, the PDA and Rucksack you'd be carrying wouldn't be cheap in the first place, so it wouldn't exactly be cheap to repair either.
