Thorny, I'll start writing the character description in the next few days.
Thorny, I'll start writing the character description in the next few days.
Svatslav Dyalov: "Victim of several bloodsucker rapes." Sergei Dergei: "Rapes bloodsuckers for a living."
Thorny, I'll start writing the character description in the next few days.
Don't forget to base one off of me. Veteran stalker that helped every stalker and got nothing in return. :smith:
Would you guys like it if I were to have the NPCs throw grenades and use grenade launchers?
Veteran stalker with the most links on the OP :v: [editline]17th January 2011[/editline]
Would you guys like it if I were to have the NPCs throw grenades and use grenade launchers?
Yes. Implement Rulix/Bak's AI mod.
Would you guys like it if I were to have the NPCs throw grenades and use grenade launchers?
Yeah to vary things up. But don't make it spam. Grenade, HURRR. 0.5 seconds later, GRENADE HUrR.
Thorny, I'll start writing the character description in the next few days.
Great :)
Where is that Stalker nature show documentary thing about Mutants in the Zone that was promised a while ago?
Hmm, I have an idea - does anyone have the SoC SDK? If so, can you check inside gamedata/textures/corp for corp_stalker.thm please?
Oh man I thought I was bored to hell with SoC, but then Doom made his awesome mod.
I just need to ask the modders out there; Do the visual indicators of the weapon stats actually reflect the real stats in the weapon config files, or are they just pictures? The stats of various weapons seem terribly inconsistent at times. For instance, I just picked up a military AK-74 which has visual stat indicators vastly inferior to the AK-74 "Custom" variants (or at least the two I have; Bes and Strelok's). This is AMK:SE. I mean, check this out: Also, in what way does Complete make ShoC easier? It really doesn't. It doesn't touch any specific settings related to that.
They dynamically fill themselves out based on config files.
The bar indicator for stats are almost completely worthless; they're highly inaccurate. For example, the SVD in my mod is shown as having 0% accuracy, when that is quite clearly not true.
My AK-47 is supposedly three times weaker than my Abakan. My AK kills with a single ehadshot. Abakan requires an entire clip. :v:
Technically every weapon without a horrible barrel should have good accuracy when firing a single shot. That's also why I hate the games that make sniper rifles horribly inaccurate when you're not aiming down the scope.
Technically every weapon without a horrible barrel should have good accuracy when firing a single shot. You can aim easier when you aim down the sights, [sp]PRIVATE ALLEN[/sp]
But when you're firing from the hip your barrel sways around. You can aim easier when you aim down the sights, [sp]PRIVATE ALLEN[/sp]
Bullshit, everyone without a wimp's grip can hold the rifle straight! I should know this since I hip fired into a target from an air rifle and shot the centre several times!
The bar indicator for stats are almost completely worthless; they're highly inaccurate. The wide selection of weapons that AMK:SE offers will prettymuch ensure that you'll find a weapon that fits you. It's down to personal preference basically. Experiment. You'll find a good combination. You could also ask users like me for advice. Right now I've got the short-range long-range combo of a modified SVD and a Bizon that takes 9x19. Works out pretty well but i'm going deeper in to the Zone so I will need something heavier.
My AK-47 is supposedly three times weaker than my Abakan. My AK kills with a single ehadshot. Abakan requires an entire clip. :v:
Bullshit, I can take out anything with one shot from my AN. 2-4 bodyshots depending on armor.
So when exploring the wide range of weaponry in AMK I can't really go by anything other than trial and error and basic common sense (I don't always trust mods to make sense though)?
Pretty much. For what it's worth, the stats for the AMK:SE weapons are sensible, it's just the stat indicator is borked.
Bullshit, everyone without a wimp's grip can hold the rifle straight! I should know this since I hip fired into a target from an air rifle and shot the centre several times!
Air rifle? Yeah, that's your problem. Air rifle has literally no kick whatsoever. But try something that uses bullets and you'll throw your shot up. I've shot .22 and some .308, and i know just as well how no-scoping is bullshit IRL. If you fire from the hip, you'll pretty much miss unless you check the position a thousand times and then don't move an inch while firing. But just sling it from your shoulder and try to shoot like that, it's 1 in a million that you'll hit.
Right, I've turned off the Scorcher, now to head to Cordon and meet with Guide before I go to the NPP!
16:19 - DesertGhost: Also 16:20 - DesertGhost: You should add an NPC called "Paravin" with near infinite health, best weapons in the game, etc that roams the Cordon and whenever you meet him he tells you a paravin story 16:20 - DesertGhost: :v 16:20 - DesertGhost: in your mod 16:20 - DesertGhost: that is 16:20 - DesertGhost: with an exoskeleton
[editline]16th January 2011[/editline] @Thorny

I'm pretty sure that you can hit the broad side of a barn with an SVD while hip firing in real life. But certainly not in every FPS! Besides, as "weapon accuracy" I did not tought of how well do you keep your rifle straight while firing, but as when you're firing a single shot the bullet always goes where the barrel is aiming. Swaying just makes it harder to hit what you want, an accurate gun is an accurate gun.
Listen. I'm REALLY REALLY SORRY I didn't take pics of this, but in my panic I forgot too. I started a new game, and did all that stuff. Save Nimble, get Special Assignment from Sidorvich, etc. I come up, and I'm testing my new ToZ shotgun in the back firing off a few buckshots. Suddenly a scout ran into the camp and everyone mobilizes. Its appears a pack of dogs tried to get in, but quickly retreated away after a few shots we're fired at them. Making sure the dogs ran away the camp advanced a few steps in direction of the Cordon Border, or the army outpost. Using common sense the group stopped so that they wouldn't draw the army's fire, except one man. Now this man, wearing a white raincoat and totting a Makarov kept on walking towards the army camp. At this point me and the fellow rookies are staring in awe of the man's bravery and extreme stupidity. He keeps going up, until all hell breaks loose. The army cordon suddenly opens fire on the man, and like something ripped out of the matrix he turns 180, dashes back to our camp dodging every bullet shot at him, runs into the boar lair (which I had promised to clear out for Wolf, but decided to put it off until I got my bearings.) sprints past between one of the boars, stops to kill the other one with two shots from his pistol and casually walks back to our camp. Then stands on the small hill over looking the Army Cordon as if gloating them and adding insult to injury. Note to self. Don't mess with that guy. But like I said. I'm incredibly sorry that I didn't take pics but that all happened in under a minute and by the time it was over I realized I should of taken pictures. And if you choose not to believe me then well I guess I understand your point·
Alright guys. I managed to revert to an earlier save and it looks like the man in white is doing it all over again. I'll have screenshots in the next five minutes. EDIT: Alrigth! I got screens. Unfortunately the poor man tried to also recreate his boar stunt but ran out of my view going behinda hill. A few pistol shots were popped but a few seconds later the two boars came out unscathed. I'm over by the hill now, there are a ton of anomolies there. The most likely outcome is that he was ripped to shreds, and it appears the human bones everywhere support this theory. RIP nameless STALKER. You deserved it.
Fuck. I lost my ShoC saves, when I moved them to my USB stick to safety while I was cleaning my Documents folder. Should have known what happens with my luck. I think I found a bug. This anomaly doesn't work. It doesn't hurt me when I go in it, and has no reaction to bolts.
What anomaly is that?

Very rare in east-block countries.
