Any spell you steal is automatically set at max level.
Earthshaker did a level 2 echoslam on you? Respond with a level 3 agh upgraded echoslam.
Windrunner is trying to run away with her level 1 windwalk? Chase her down with the level 4.
Also, Invokers will cry themselves to sleep.
that would be kind of shitty though because by the time you've built an agh's most people will have maxed all their important skills anyway

I'd do either you steal it indefinately (still lose it on death).
OR
It carries over after death but still only remains stolen for so long.

Guys, is there any way that someone could hurt their own team's courier?
Some time ago, I was playing maybe razor or sniper, can't remember but it was one of those heroes that can drop a cluster of damage on a certain spot.
Anyway, we were near Dire's mid tower after warding off the enemy in a team fight, and one of us called the courier. I remember using some spell near me to check if anyone was on the woods or on roshan, can't really remember but I layed it between the first mid tower and roshan's pit, maybe half in half out, but when the courier got there, it just died.
We have no idea of what happened there. He went through those woods, and midway through them just dropped dead.
No one of us know what the hell happened, and neither did the radiant. I still think I somehow killed my own courier with my spell. We all started asking each other what the hell happened and if anyone had done anything. I just stayed quiet because I had no idea whatsoever what the hell had happened and couldn't even believe that happened and that I might have been the one who killed the courier by myself.

We saw the courier dying. It just reached half way through those woods and suddenly, as if he had a heart attack, he died.
There were no creeps whatsoever near it nor anyone else. We had just won a teamfight and they were all on the radiant side respawning, besides, if he was to be killed, we would have seen someone near him, but we didn't. He just disappeared, as if he was like console command killed or something...
Besides, he died as soon as he reached the spot where I layed down the spell, which makes it weird.
And for some reason, I can't check any replays because they are all unavailable.

Maybe an enemy with a high damage attacked it and the projectile just took long enough to hit that you couldn't see them by then.

You can't damage a courier with a spell, at all. The only way to do damage to a courier is with a right-click attack.
