Explain a bit, I rarely see bots.
You mean they just keep wards there 24/7 ? Rune spots are also chokepoints, so I guess it's good the ward those.
Bots always ward those spots with what I guess is some warding mark near the rune spawning points or some place near them, and never anything else like we saw on TI2 where they warded just about anything for incoming ganks.
People usually ward like the bots near the runes and nothing else.

Well, those ward spots are easy to remember and are important. Usually you want to have those warded AND additional ones, like in-forest, hills, etc. People sometimes just can't afford those additional wards or refuse to buy them.

More like refuse, they could always buy them later.

A little help and advice is soooo hard to dispense.
Whining and shitting on new guy is so much easier.

I have no problem helping people, but most of the time they are dickbags that refuse to listen to advice because I am a retard and they are super pro at dota.

If it's not their first game and they are not at least slightly mature, they will think of Dota as bowl full of hatred and your advices will look like condescending speach of superiority to them.
You need to really invest time during game, I convined guy to keep trying after 5 or so minutes of almost constant chat. He fed beforehand, I made him stop, explained why he should keep playing and voila, good game ensured.
Just saying stuff "Dude, you do it X way" won't work. You need to first show that you are friendly, avoid any kind of assholish remarks, try to sympathize. A lot of people get idea that they are "good guys" if they don't yell with microphone and don't keep calling people noobs. There is long way up there, basically imagine a good, nice person, that helps stranger on street, takes time with their tasks and doesn't look for excuses when given someone's burden.
That is what it takes to change people in Dota, because of how little interaction is possible (speech, writing, end) and how much player's attitude affects the game, and how much game affects players in return.

I've got to disagree. Being kind and encouraging never works because people will just insist "Nah MoM is awesome on riki nub."
I always try the friendly approach first, but I only ever seem to get results from yelling and bitching.
When I help people in Dota I don't just say "Do X its' better"
I like to explain why it's better and how it benefits the player and the team.
Am I cool?

Read again. I said friendly to extent that is rather rare even in real life. I mean show him will of steel to help. People will be bethezeld by that kind of approach and will usually open up a bit.

People generally dislike being told how to play

Or they follow a guide and stick to the guide for the whole time playing
Or they follow a guide and stick to the guide for the whole time playing
That's just learning curve. It's hard to let go of that hand that guides you, i.e. guide pointers. I used to read up on every hero when randoming, quick alt-tab to playdota and read top guide. Now I play on my own, but I believe I started doing so at 600, maybe 700 hours.

Yeah but I've played with people that still followed a guide when it was dumb and the whole team was telling him to level something else. This guy was following a drow guide where he never leveled silence against a team of casters. He said it's because "the guide said so"

Guides aren't that effective for DOTA as you need to learn from experience. Items and builds can be very circumstantial as well so you shouldn't blindly follow a set path.

Tell that to players who are still getting lost in teamfights and don't know why auto-attacking pushes lane.
They just need time. You can encourage them by asking them guiding questions.
Like that drow tiptopei described :
"Mate, you have AoE Silence spell. It's cheap, it's rather big aoe and it lasts rather long. How many heroes they have than can outlive that if we jump them WITH your silence ?"

We tried being nice and all that but he still never leveled it up. He said that he never breaks away from the guide.

Did you ask him why ?
Did you ask him why ?
He stayed silent after that no matter what we asked him but yes
He probably muted everyone since the people on the mics were yelling at him but i don't know why he muted me and my friend.

Chain reaction judgement. He perceived you as "his team", guess noone stood out enough for him to think of you as individuals. Rather common in online games, if you don't stop and give it a though, you do sometimes see players as "team", a unit. Only when you focus on particular players it goes away.
Still, if he stayed silent, I have my rule for that. Nagg like no tommorow until someone complains. No complains, no ending of me. It might be annoying, yes, but I just want a person to respond to a god damn question, it's not much right ?
People generally dislike being told how to play
I'm not telling them how to play, I'm explaining how they can be better if they want to.
Everyone likes being better :v:
The fact auto-attack is on by default is fucking horrible, valve please turn it off by default. It fucks up so many new people.

Why is my hero not attacking when I click enemies ?
But I do click them!
Oh, right-click ?
First games for completely RTS-free minds would be even more painful.

Is there a concmd toggle for it?
I want it for last hitting but the way it makes you move automatically just annoys me.
Is there a concmd toggle for it?

You can just toggle it in the 'Game' section in your options menu.
No matter what is done, they still just keep auto-attacking the creeps instead of trying to deny and last hit.
Art of last hitting, denying and lane-managment is rather advanced topic and a skill players get recognized for.
It takes time and practice.

Just auto-attacking isn't going to help.
100% of competitive and professional players keep auto attack on.
100% of competitive and professional players keep auto attack on.
Why?
Why?
A lot of people from dota 1 are used to it, some people think it helps it easier to last hit, it builds the habit of always doing something so you don't just sit there and idle, less delay (Like if someone was banished you'll instantly attack them compared to having to right click), etc.
