That's very true. I honestly don't understand the Dota economy, because everything is cosmetic. TF2's makes sense, because everything falls into place naturally. Dota's is pre-structured by rarity, which is extremely annoying.

I actually like the way that the items in Dota 2 are labeled, leaves less room for people like Maruhai to go "No, this item is different, it's worth more but I can't give you a reason"
The only way that happens is with items that are drop only.

Yeah, honestly the way the community assigned prices to everything was dumb as sin. In TF2, hats were the most valuable things and for good reason since they were more rare than weapons and weapons were used to craft hats. This does leave a lot of people able to cheat the system in a way, being able to "scam" people by giving them weapons for hats or other cosmetics. I see you, Murdoco. I was pretty successful with it myself, cashing out with $150 after trading a Bill's (that I traded a single weapon for) for keys and having an unusual unbox. But anyways, I don't think what Maruhai did was all too wrong. Sure he's a bunghole and I don't like him myself but at the end of the day, I can't blame him for taking the opportunity. I would've done the same.

because I like LoL and I play it occasionally. When I was really hardcore I was in the top 0.3% of all players. I started with Dota when WC3 was the shit and a friend got me into LoL which I felt was a lot like Dota except we could all play it and enjoy it without having to spend hours on memorizing hotkeys, items, etc. The QWER standard was refreshing and amazingly simple. I genuinely like both Dota 2 and LoL. Also I don't want to change my avatar because it would lose its 80x80 in a land before time where blues could have slightly bigger avatars.

But there's going to be a spreadsheet either way. There's going to be further and further division of items, no matter if they're labeled or not. Look at genuines in TF2. A lot of them are very rare, but they're relatively cheap because no one fucking wants them.
