Not really, dota is dota.
The term 'moba' has only been used post LoL, it's just a term to describe dota's gameplay without calling it dota-like.
The problem with the term MOBA is that what it means pretty much encompases every online game ever.
Counter-Strike is a MOBA.

Problem with ARTS is that excludes games like SMNC, SMITE, and anything that gives you direct control of your character instead of having a RTS style selection interface.
It sounds a lot better better then MOBA, though.
I think MOBA is a pretty accurate term because of the sort of gameplay MOBA's are associated with. When you hear "MOBA," you think of DOTA or games similar to DOTA, even if the genre's name isn't 100% accurate.
i.e. Contra and Counter-Strike could both be considered shoot-'em-ups, but a game like Contra is what a shoot-'em-up is traditionally thought of as.

I've started doing 5 v 5 all randoms with friends every night now
I haven't been able to play a real game of Dota in ages
I'd love to do one with Facepunch but I don't know if we'd be able to gather a group of people that can just enjoy the game without starting a fight
