God, we got in a game with 3 people who constantly insulted us through the game, had a level 22 by 20 minutes and were the most crude people I have played with in ages. These kind of games are why I stay in bot matchs. I mean I was doing bad, so was Bran but we kept to our selves same for when we are doing good, that's why these people urk me so badly.

'omg no need to be upset :)' Legit quote even though we only said one thing the entire game (along with our team) which was 'Good luck'.
The models themselves are fantastic and the texture work ain't to shabby either; it just doesn't work in the current Dota environment and I don't think it ever will.
god forbid anybody ever put anything silly in dota! *fights a dwarf with a sniper rifle as a huge fat bald cockney butcher while eating magical cheese and quoting fucking willy wonka*
So if Valve were to make another trailer for this International, when would it probably be?
god forbid anybody ever put anything silly in dota! *fights a dwarf with a sniper rifle as a huge fat bald cockney butcher while eating magical cheese and quoting fucking willy wonka*
ya cause a clown suit for pudge and converse shoes for sven is just what dota needs, maybe even an AWP for sniper if you preorder CSGO
good thing a well-modelled and pretty funny set for ursa is neither of those things!
[editline]23rd August 2012[/editline]
i wish i'd brought the set now just so people like you would get angry about it
i think it would be best to maintain a specific art style for dota2 rather than attempting to add non-fitting cosmetic items that would clash with dota2's art style
just look to team fortress 2 to see what i mean
[editline]22nd August 2012[/editline]
i don't really see anything particularly wrong with that item set however

ursa is a big bear who kills people and washes himself in their blood
why would he wear an alpine hat and pants
why would a being made out of water wear armor
why would a being made out of water wear armor
i dont know because im not the creator of the item, but i can tell you that it is fitting to the hero and is very well made
if he had a rubber duck floating around inside of him and pieces of a pirate ship, that would not be fitting and has no place in this game
why would a being made out of water wear armor
if they can't give him items how else is valve gonna make money? (spoiler alert they aren't and that's not something they are interested in)
my point is that the fact that a being made completely of water wearing armor doesn't annoy people but a bear wearing human clothing does is kind of amusing (why would morphling ever wear armor? he's made out of WATER for gods sake!)
the alpine set doesn't look bad aesthetically and i can see why some people might be irritated at the fact that they gave ursa such an odd item set, but at least it's not completely out of sync with dota2's art style

Pirate ship debris would certainly fit in Dota?

His story is that he morphs into different soldiers and destroys a battlefield, wouldn't having solid armor hinder that ability? You're kinda shooting yourself in the foot...
Ursa is an alpine animal, and the set is a traditional outfit of the region- you're trying to make sense out of a fucking fantasy game and making exceptions based on personal taste.

no, im not. ursa is a tribal warrior who wants to protect his cubs, him wearing metal armor makes sense, him wearing an alpine hat and scarf does not.
dota 2 has a very distinct art style that i would truly hate to see ruined just because people think its ok because its a fantasy game
NO FUN ALLOWED

exactly.
this isn't a matter of "personal taste"
but there is no point in fighting the current.. all we can do is enjoy dota2 for as much time as possible before the promo-bullshit snowballs into a flood.
TF2 has dumbed down my sense of aesthetic preservation.. Roll in the party hats, neon masks, & goofy clown shoes.
female armor hue
my biggest gripe with the alpine ursa set is that it doesn't read as what it's supposed to be
it's supposed to be lederhosen and that sort of stuff, but it looks more like a cowboy outfit than anything. the pants need to be made to look more like lederhosen (I wish I could give better advice than that), and I think the hat should be swapped out for a tyrolean as it better suits the stereotypical look they're going for with the set.
goddamn i'm not playing allpick again unless i'm queuing with at least 3 other people.
i random a carry and then the rest of the fucking team picks carries, it's just so fucking frustrating
Why are there team pennants still missing from the store? :<

What....?
ursa is a sentient being, if he wants to wear a silly hat then why can't he??
I think Valve understands that they sort of screwed the pooch with TF2 and they want to try very hard to stick with DOTA's style.
That's why they're very touch about community feedback with the Alpine set.
i don't see why they should ever listen to this community's shitty opinions when stuff like the female invoker was top of the workshop for two weeks

Man, that desert terrain looks really cool.
i don't see why they should ever listen to this community's shitty opinions when stuff like the female invoker was top of the workshop for two weeks
Workshop community is not the entirety of the game's community, dumbass.
I swear to god I get the same 20 guys commenting on my items every time.
Community = active members + passive members + never-anything-only-playing-games members + dickheads + ....
So yeah, be specific. Entire community is broad enough that when you call it shit, you are also calling yourself that.
i don't see why they should ever listen to this community's shitty opinions when stuff like the female invoker was top of the workshop for two weeks
Workshop community is awful.
Workshop community is awful.
yet people will constantly say stuff like "ugh this only had 2 stars on the workshop!" as justification for removing items they don't like (e.g. the alpine set)
What everyone used for "justification" for the ursa set was dota2dev thread, not the "omg 2 starrsssss", so ok.
Woah, I am glad I tested this shit.
As Lich, if you ever get Refresher orb in your hands do not, and I repeat, do not cast 2nd Chain Frost right after the first one.
Bounces seem to add up for both and duration ends prematurely. I.E. 1 chain frost bouncing = 7 bounces after initial hit.
2 Chain Frosts bouncing = 3/4 bounces for both, not 14 combined.
I am testing this now to see how exactly it works.
Allright, so it's not based on targets.
You can have 2 groups of separate targets and 2 separate Chain Frosts bouncing between them, and they will still end prematurely.
I made 2 groups of 2 svens.
1 Chain Frost active on map = 2 svens get below half of hp.
2 Chain Frosts active on map = none of the svens reaches half hp
You guys think this is a bug or correct behaviour of Lich's ultimate and refresher orb ? I mean, potentially 14 bounces can deal upwards of 8800 ((14 + 2 (initial hits don't count as bounces)) * 550).
