Make new character
log out of said new character
Select main character
mouse over new character
press enter and left mouse, quickly.
I logout, select my main, put my mouse on the alt's name, press enter and left mouse at the same time? Or very quickly after I've pressed enter? (cause I tried, I can't do this, too much of a slowpoke :( )

You accidentally hover your mouse over and existing character then accidentally press enter and click your mouse at the same time accidentally.
