Dude, we have bombs so accurate we can drop them through their friggin windows, what do they have? Giant slugs with razor tongues and Striders where you only need to take out 1 leg with an RPG to disable them. Their weapons do not overpower earth's military, merely outnumber them. It's simply a case of quantity over quality.

Portal storms would wipe out anything in their way, and we weren't prepared for war. One moment, we're chillin' at home, next moment, we have fucking massive armies marching through our door, wiping out anything dumb enough to stand in their way.
