This game wasn't supposed to have a story, it was just PvP, then they added in the PvE campaigns to give more variety.
Stop complaining and play.

If You'd care to actually play the game and stop bitching, you would know that you unlock more about the background story as you unlock more PvE maps.

The gameplay is pretty cool. I like it. The thing I don't like though, is I keep getting all these upgrades for cards I don't even have! I think I got about 15 of them and only two are from cards I have... And I don't know how to get more cards...

New edition of cards has apparently been out for a while.
There is a random PvE map feature with slightly different random maps and random enemies. It's for 1, 2 or 4 people. The goal is to defeat all the enemies before time runs out. You can select the difficulty level from 1-10.
Levels 1-7 you get more starting power and time to win (increases with the level), but more difficulty.
8-9 you get less starting cash (about as much as levels 3-5) but still more time and difficulty.
10 is the same as 9 in terms of time to win, but enemies are harder and you have even less cash (I think its the same amount as level 1, not sure).
The rewards are scaled to difficulty level.
Single Player Maps:
Difficulty 1: 0 Honor Tokens, 0 Victory Tokens, 2 Battle Tokens about 3minutes
Difficulty 2: 0 Honor Tokens, 0 Victory Tokens, 3 Battle Tokens about 4-5minutes
Difficulty 3: 0 Honor Tokens, 0 Victory Tokens, 4 Battle Tokens
Difficulty 4: 0 Honor Tokens, 1 Victory Tokens, 6 Battle Tokens
Difficulty 5: 1 Honor Tokens, 2 Victory Tokens, 10 Battle Tokens
Difficulty 6: 2 Honor Tokens, 3 Victory Tokens, 15 Battle Tokens 16 minutes
Difficulty 7: 3 Honor Tokens, 4 Victory Tokens, 20 Battle Tokens 19 minutes
Difficulty 8: 4 Honor Tokens, 6 Victory Tokens, 30 Battle Tokens 600 XP 22 minutes
Difficulty 9: 5 Honor Tokens, 7 Victory Tokens, 40 Battle Tokens 900 XP 22 minutes
Difficulty 10: 6 Honor Tokens, 8 Victory Tokens, 50 Battle Tokens 1125 XP 42 minutes
They are honor, victory and battle tokens which can be used to purchase specific upgrades for cards.

I prefer frost and nature. Great combo for defense, since you can have good defensive units and heal them too. (Plus more deck options since there will be more cards to choose from)

My favorite common (way more cheap) frost cards:

Well that's true, I mean I am using Giant Wyrm and Surge of Light or w/e the healing is called. I like Frost and Nature alot really, mostly frost though.
So is this game actively played? When i first heard of it I thought it was kinda gimmicky. Also, are the cards you buy just in-game or are there physical cards too? I do really like CCG's but I haven't played a good one in awhile.
Bah i was into this game but stopped, i might start up again due to the random maps thing. O and to test DX 11 when i get my new card.

I think you can buy cards at a card shop that sells TGC's and then input a code on them to use them in-game.
I made a mistake and traded good cards...
That sucks.
