I'd play WoW over Runescape anyday. Too bad I hate them both. WoW is just too boring for me to play it and Runescape is just, well, Runescape is just bad...
Yeah, we need pros and cons, your just picking the parts of wow that Runescape fails at. I played Runescape a bunch, but then they ruined it with the trading thing. The thing is, they are at two unique levels, the very good, and playable. You can't compare them.
It's funny how you just mentioned all of WoW's pros, and none of Runescape's pros.
You're incredibly biased, and you also have no idea how to give a review or how to make a comparison.
To be honest, the only thing that lets Runescape down is it's community. Other than that, its a solid game.

Care to share some of these pro's with us?
Eh?
Because world of warcraft is a PC game.
and.. runescape is.. a web browser game?
Why the bloody fuck are you comparing them anyways? It doesn't fucking matter at all which is supposedly "Better." And if you think it does fucking matter, then you are an idiot. Just shut the fuck up, this is trivial shit and if you actually give a shit about which is better, and want to fucking argue about your OPINION, then you are just stupid.
Seriously, it doesn't matter at all.
Each person has their own opinion and arguing will not CHANGE ANYTHING. There is no way to WIN the supposed "argument" and arguing over this shit is stupid.
So just shut the hell up.
Really? you seriously put this much effort into this? are you kidding me? people who play either game are obviously going to like the game they are playing, why the hell do you care? just enjoy the game you are playing instead of making a huge rage thread about others.
You have such a blatant bias here.
"BUT RUNESCAPE IS A BROWSER GAME!" Isn't a good excuse.
Yes it is. I actually prefer WoW but you can't compare a browser game originally made by someone and his brother to a full blown game made by a company that has been around for quite a while.

well actually runescape has been around for longer and has a professional dev team now

Alright.
1. It's an expansive world with a hell of a lot to do.
2. It has an innovative skill system which doesn't force you to level to be good at anything.
3. It takes advantage of a player-run economy with just a few nudges to set it in the right direction.
4. It's managed to stay up and improve itself over a period of 5-6 years.
5. The crafting system works and is far better than the World of Warcraft approach.
6. It's far more casual than WoW
7. It's free.
8. The magic system both aids the economy and forces a player to take initiative
9. The 3 items saved after you die forces players to be wary in both PvP and PvE
10. If you ignore the whiney playerbase, you'll find that the game is very well accomplished.
11. If you pay money for membership, you still don't get an advantage over the people who play on free servers, due to the fact that member items don't transfer over (unlike WoW with bind to account items).
12. The membership system allows for a number of new ways of doing things, such as instead of taking the long route around an area, you can be skilled enough to hop over a fence and save time.
13. It's constantly being updated with new content.
14. Player support
15. You don't have to go through hours of grueling patching and download times.
Keep in mind I haven't played RS in 3 years, and am currently playing WoW now.
You get what you pay for, runescape often you don't, so you get a barebones MMO with a shitty community. You pay for normal WoW, you get a very good MMO with a good community (though PvE servers have giant dicks sometimes) If you play private it's still good, just smaller communities.

I'll give you that, but it still is very barebones and though you can ignore the community but they'll be in your face soon enough.
Added videos on OP for those of you asking about who's comparing them.
yea , rs is way better tehn wow aneeday
Sounds like a fanboy rant.
"WOW: Holy shit this is so good.
Runescape: LOLOLOL I HIT U"
youtubed some of those videos , people cant actually think rs is better then wow can they ?
I don't understand what all the hate is about WoW. I used to think it was dumb too, but I trialed it and it seems rather fun.
I just remember when i played runescape, we were all like, zomg wow is fucking suck all your base are belong to us, but now that i play WoW, I don't think runescape is as good, but im not immature about it, it's like.. WoW has changed me. Lol.
Does anyone else think that?
EVE beats WoW in every category you posted.
Fuck.Yes.
Biased, yet true.
Yes, the community for runescape is shit, but it's not a bad game. Runescape is the best browser game on the whole of the internets, it was all made in Java and has really great graphics for a browser game. I stayed interested in runescape till my combat level was around 104, yes I was a member and don't regret it
I can't say much for world of warcraft as I found it was a massive grindfest for the whole of my playtime, The communites reply for that is "it gets fun at level 30 etc etc", I only got to level 19-20 and was bored out of my mind, I really couldn't continue, I was in a guild and had a group of friends levelling with me. My friend who is level 80 tried showing me "instances" because they were "awesome", I done some with them but in reality they are just a grind fest too but with an end for some loot. World of Warcraft does have nice graphics, but it's starting to look a little dated considering new mmo's are coming out with better graphics which are free.
Runescape kept me interested by making all the professions really easy and simple to train, I could easily click the Stat and a menu came up showing me what I could do. On WoW The stats wern't really that clear, I understood that I needed 2 copper bars for making shit but It wasn't intirely clear for a new player. I think WoW is better for people that are prepared to dedicate their time to it, I find that when I play it, I am constantly grinding to boost a few level's.
Runescape has some of the best quests out of the two, When I played WoW 100% of the quests I were given were grind quests (Kill 5 boars and 5 bats) or created in a varience for example (collect some herb) you go to collect the herb and it's surrounded by murlocks or whatever. Runescape spent time to each of the quests and actually gave each one a seperate story. I loved completing quests on runescape because I felt like I was recieving a decent reward. On Wow I recieved 250xp for a quest I spent half an hour grinding for, considering I needed 19,000xp to level it was really disappointing,
In conclusion, I prefer runescape to World Of Warcraft because Runescape is a really nice finished browser game which doesn't take a lot of effort to get playing, World Of Warcraft is difficult to install considering all the disks etc, Runescapes sign up requires "username, password, age, email", WoW requires the whole lot. World of warcraft has really nice graphics but with all the advancement in video games it's starting to look dated. Runescape recently upgraded their graphics to runescape HD, It's a massive improvement to the "standard detail" but still it doesn't look better than WoW, The controls for runescape are simple requiring only mouse skills and arrow keys to rotate the camera, WoW requires use from loads shortcuts and macro's which isn't too much bother but takes a while to get used too. I haven't seen much from the WoW's communities because I didn't really spend time in any of the big towns but I've heard that it's great, Runescapes community is awful mostly because of all the under 13's playing, which ruins the game completely.
I like Runescape's quests, they let you think alot and are quite original. Were WoW's quests are just the same but with different items you need to get (not all of them, but 70% of them are)
youtubed some of those videos , people cant actually think rs is better then wow can they ?
This is what I'm saying.
-Player's attitudes-
WoW - I have NEVER seen nicer people in a game. My RL friend thought it would be funny to port me to Outlands after telling to he found a great leveling spot that required me to drop my hearthstone. Some RANDOM person that I had just met walked me back to civilization. This took an hour and a half. He actually dropped what he was doing and walked me back one hour and thirty minutes. Also if you need help with a group quest, you can use the /who function to find a level 80 in the area who can be your angel for a short while. Put simply, WoW people are awesome.
Runescape - Hey can you help me kill this guy, he's tough. GTFO NOOB CAN'T YOU SEE I NEED TO DO THINGS GTFO NOOB LOLOLOL I HAZ MORE MONEY THAN YOU MAKE MONEY YOURSELF LEVELING YOURSELF COOK YOURSELF FOOD DO EVERYTHING YOURSELF BECAUSE I HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO YOU FUCKING FNOOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!@@@@!!!1one!!@
I have to agree with this. Even though I'm currently looking to Champs Online, the community is really kind in WoW (Mind you, I only play the Horde). Short on cash? Ask and eventually a nice fellow will come along and help you out or run you through an instance. Runescape? Except for trade, there is pretty much no interaction between players that are not friends besides "You are noob"
I have a question for you all, instead of HOW can you compare the two:
WHY THE BLOODY FUCKING HELL DO YOU COMPARE THE TWO?
Why?
Seriously, why the fuck do you care.
WoW - Not so much of a triangle for WoW. You can basically kill anyone in your level range with SKILL. Yes, that's something you must possess. You need timing, powerful and quick buff techniques, access to all your damaging instant casts to take out that last bit of health, and health spells.
Hahahaha.
Really?
Well, With Wow You get what you pay for, same with runescape (except for "Membership") You get a fully shit community with RS because you give them nothing in return with WoW You get People who are actually nice (usually) Instead of dick holes going "LOL I GOT DRAGON DRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR" Yep... Yep.
silly OP
I actually used to play RS a lot like 6 years ago. I started out in now known as Classic Runescape. Played member for most of the time. I played for maybe two years, before I got in to WoW. Played WoW ever since and never got tired of it. Playing Runescape is just a big pile of grinding for no gain.
with WoW You get People who are actually nice
Ahahhahaahahahaha.
