I want to lay some thing downs for anyone thats not sure to try out Condemned. I got this game during the time I got my xbox 360, It was around 25 bucks. I got it not knowing much about the game other than the great reviews its got. To compare this game to anything, it's a lot like the movie Seven. You go into the creepiest places ever, places you seriously don't want to be, and do investigations and while doing all that, the unexpected happens, and you really don't want that to happen especially when you don't have a weapon pulled out - Because at times you have to hold a tool to help your investigation, with a flash light in the other hand! But that isn't what makes the game intense, oh no! Overall walking in dark hallways, or even in huge open areas, you know something bads going to happen but you don't have the slightest clue to where they will come. You will be turning around everywhere constantly because it's just a mind fuck. For me I'd say the Store Department was the creepiest level ever, the environment was so scary, and those fucking mannequins are creepy as hell, you never know which mannequin is going to move. The sound and graphics are great, it has such great ambient sound to the game, it fits so perfectly well, just like in the movie Seven (Condemned was inspired big time by the movie Seven) The voice acting is also really fantastic. The mapping and texturing was the best I've ever seen for a scary game. Monolith seriously know their horror games. Really, just pick it up!
The ending was weird as fuck though, don't go into it expecting a great story.
The ending was weird as fuck though, don't go into it expecting a great story.
The ending is also somewhat like Seven by the way, hehe.
The ending is nothing like Seven! What are you talking about? But the game is fantastic, it's also on the PC. It's mediocre lame sequel is only on consoles. [editline]04:17AM[/editline] The sequel is just retardedly different from the first. No same voice actors. Except for one character who is only voiced through flashbacks, but if he weren't I'd bet they change it. The original also looks better, the lighting and detail is 100% better.
The ending is nothing like Seven! What are you talking about?
[sp]When it comes to deciding the fate of the serial killers.[/sp] Spoilers for both movie and game ahead. It can be compared definitely Condemned Seven
Oh yeah. I thought you were implying there was a box involved. Also, spoiler tag dat shut, bra [editline]04:28AM[/editline] Also, Fatal Frame series is good. Dead Space, I consider, one of the best survival horror games this generation. If not THE or a tie with Condemned. It appears good new Survival Horror games are based off movies Condemned: Seven and Silence of the Lambs Dead Space: Event Horizon and The Thing Things that suck. Condemned 2: Not based on anything but succeeds on being similar to a hollywood movie with millions of clichés. Silent Hill: Origins/Homecoming: Tried to elaborate on a plot for a series with three or four different plots inspired by various films.
Ugh, I've forgotten how to use spoilers. How do I use them again? Also, just for fun. More similar scenes from both Condemned and the movie Seven. The first investigation which involves someone sitting on a table dead. No spoilers at all. And I hope this will motivate people to buy this game. Condemned's Scene Seven's scene. (I cant find a better video with the begining of this investigation)
[spoilers] [/spoilers\] there isn't a second slash. If not that. [sp] [/sp\]
[spoilers] [/spoilers\] there isn't a second slash. If not that. [sp] [/sp\]
Thanks! It worked.
Condemned 2: Not based on anything but succeeds on being similar to a hollywood movie with millions of clichés.
I wasn't too disappointed at the changes the second game was given, I was just a bit weirded out. Yeah Thomas transformed into the ultimate bad ass because he was in fact not normal due to the events of the first game. I did prefer the original chubby detective fighting off crimes. Hell even Rosa for some fucked up wild reason lost all her weight. I guess Monolith was trying to appeal the game to every gamer out there, so they did what had to be done, knowing the reactions the true fans would get (Mostly negative). I still found the game entertaining, it was still a survival game, it still had pretty rad investigation scenes, but it definitely did not stay the way it should of had. But I still do have respect for Monolith and I look forward to their next game. And I really hope they continue to use the Jupiter Ex engine.
[spoilers] [/spoilers\] there isn't a second slash. If not that. [sp] [/sp\]
No, It's [sp][/sp*] (Remove the *) EG: [sp]I LIKE CUPCAKES[/sp] edit: Woops, I didn't see the second part of your post. Note to self: Don't read facepunch at 5:00AM.
You have to sneak around it, or kill it. Fairly easy, but takes some practice, just grab your barrel and watch the dog, creep slowly while crouched, and you will get it. Remember to hide behind objects, and don't move if the dog comes near.
Exactly the point. I am too terrified. :ohdear: Something to help me gather courage? [editline]09:15AM[/editline]
...You mean... That happens in the game?... O.O You actually got me looking over my shoulder now... Also... Does penumbra's scare factor act like "Oh hey I gotta retrive this..." *hears noise* "What was that?!" *hears noise getting closer* "Oh god! what is that!? oh god oh god!" ? Because, if it just revolves at you not having a weapon to defend yourself, then its not that scary, but if it is kinda like I explained it, then.... O.O
Yep, you're right. There's also a part with a dog. You hear "AROOOOOO" and then the dog comes 'round the corner, and then... Well, run for yer ****ing life!
Kill the dog with a hammer. The stealth in Penumbra is shit, so it's really pointless. Black Plague has better stealth.
Doom 3. I used to be scared of that game [sp]when i was 10[/sp]
Kill the dog with a hammer. The stealth in Penumbra is shit, so it's really pointless. Black Plague has better stealth.
Get on a crate that's braced in a corner and lure the dogs to you, easy kills. Black Plague had much better stealth,[sp]but it was ruined to me by the lack of a weapon "you have a fucking saw with you, for fucks sake use it on the zombie". Is basically what I kept thinking throughout that game[/sp]
Ok, but I am still just like, when the door bursts open, I am practically stunned, and I am not able to do anything else than get the **** out of there. Anything to build up my courage?
Ok, but I am still just like, when the door bursts open, I am practically stunned, and I am not able to do anything else than get the **** out of there. Anything to build up my courage?
Talk to someone while playing? And not by text, voice communication.
Talk to someone while playing? And not by text, voice communication.
Heh, problem is I can't really. Seriously, the ones I have to talk to (currently) are busy doing something else sooooo... What about cursing at it? Or hearing music?
"The Suffering". Very psychological. Graphics aren't great, sort of GTA:SA-ish.
"The Suffering". Very psychological. Graphics aren't great, sort of GTA:SA-ish.
Oh, yeah, The Suffering was pretty good. It was more of a TPS than a full-fledged survival horror game, but it was pretty good. [editline]01:00PM[/editline]
Ok, but I am still just like, when the door bursts open, I am practically stunned, and I am not able to do anything else than get the **** out of there.
Heh, problem is I can't really. Seriously, the ones I have to talk to (currently) are busy doing something else sooooo... What about cursing at it?
Mute the game, turn up some of your own music, you will find that without sound most scary things lose the effect without the sound.
Yeah, I did. Heard Misery Business while doing. Hearing it now too. I was like "Hell yea! Die dawg!" With Hayley singing and the guitars and the drums playing :D
Doom 3. I used to be scared of that game [sp]when i was 10[/sp]
what
Dead Space is pretty scary. I dont know however. Ive never been a Survival Horror type of person.
54 posts and not a single one reccomending Call of Cthulhu AVP2 Marine campaign was also pretty scary.
Cause Call of Cthulhu is not as bad as Penumbra but is close when it comes to hype. It's cool though.
Condemmed, Who doesn't like Doped-up tweakers running at you with pipes.
Cryostasis. The atmosphere is really intense.
Condemmed, Who doesn't like Doped-up tweakers running at you with pipes.
When I first played I didn't want to move forward incase someone jumped out at me
