Forgetting to change resolution settings will make the game look shit
I just started my game, and my creature already knows how to create his own forests, help farmers and can fetch his own food and water :smug:
In which game? 1 or 2?

For some reason my creature likes to kick and throw trees around. But this is not a learnable behaviour (if I go to the list of recent actions I can scold or praise for, it isn't there). I beat the shit out of him when it finally came up with "should I play with trees?" but apparantly that's nothing to do with why he abuses the trees. He just does it for the fucking hell of it.

That's in number 2. The creature in the 2nd is very much X=Good, Y=Bad. The creature in the first is much more likely to learn more from what it learns (If that makes sense). For example, I taught my creature how to cast the water miracle to grow trees near my settlement. He learned this was a good action and started growing them all over the place and then he realised (After growing a tree next to a field) that he helps the villagers because his water miracle grows the crops.
It's an amazing thing actually, I love watching how complex some of the behaviours he learns are.
Can someone tell me which game I should get if I want to teach my animal new things and have it learn things on it's own with a smart AI?

Black and White 1
Jesus, I love god games (the genre), but black and white is probably the best, and only good one out there.
I wish B&W1 would run properly. For some reason, it laggs like hell and flickers all over the place in 90% of the cases when I start it. Had to resort to playing B&W2 (for the first time, actually), but I liked the first one better.
I loved the first one, i had a happy, godly sheep-creature who was soo nice he pooped rainbows, but sadly being a good god was waaay to hard.
And sadly for all of us, we can't play as Zardoz the god in any of these games.

how fucking badass would it be to have a floating stone head as your temple that commands sean connery to kill things and spits guns out of it's mouth.
Is it bad I played the second one first? :smith:
[editline]16th January 2011[/editline]
By the way, I didn't fully finish the second, and now it's uninstalled, I was playing full good, but it was too hard to keep to 100% good, so now I'm gonna go evil..

Ahem.

Barely a God game, you control a shaman.
I haven't played that one, was just the first good pic I found for Populous.
and yes, they are god games.
Still, wasn't it the first real god game, the genre-defining one? Never played it, but I always thought Populus doesn't deserve any badmouthing...
It's also done by the same people who did Black & White :buddy:
Back when they were Bullfrog.

They made Dungeon Keeper too.
FUCK thanks for making me nostalgia. I lost BW1 + creature isle and BW2 in a move, cant find em. If steam sold them I would buy them all RIGHT FUCKING NOW.
As soon as I saw the Wii my first thought was that it would be a good platform for a god game though this was before I learned it had shit graphics and the motion controller didn't track distance. Now with the Move and Kinect I think I want a console version that uses them. I think it would be cool to throw rocks at enemy towns with it.
This will remain the bes god game ever. That is until From Dust comes out, then we will see what will happen...

I feel From Dust will disappoint
Ahem.

This.
Populous is amazing. I've had so much fun playing online with friends and getting absolutely wrecked by dragons.
Oh how much fun I had in BW1 throwing people out to sea.
Guys.
Kinect + Black and White.

. . .Why? It looks awesome.
. . .Why? It looks awesome.
A number of people are getting pretty hyped about it over a tech demo, similar to how Spore was.
. . .Why? It looks awesome.
So did Spore back then. Fables somewhat makes a point - you can't know how it will look. Maybe they will suddenly decide just making some kind of sandbox kid-in-front-of-an-ant-colony game will not be enough and replace the whole sandbox by some sort of storyline that completely fucks up the creative part by not allowing you to just destroy or create anything on the island.
[editline]17th January 2011[/editline]
But, yeah, Spore was a big mistake and these are almost (or totally) indie devs, so they'll probably take a lesson out of Spore and make a good game.

I hate the fact that you have to babysit people. Wish you could make a world and people randomly appear. Or you make them. You`re the fucking God after all.
So whats better 1 or 2?
So whats better 1 or 2?
1. 2 is fun and easier to get hold of but 1 was the breakthrough.
Damn right.
Also 1 doesnt even have a hud and your creature is much more interesting.
And there is a golden song in there. :buddy:
