People still play online on the first one actually, on Hamachi servers.

But yeah, I'd be up for that.
[editline]18th January 2011[/editline]
Well, this is shit. I decided to install the patch for the first game and now it wont launch.
[editline]18th January 2011[/editline]
Booo, had to reinstall. Seems the patch actually makes bugs worse for me :frown:
I considered streaming earlier.
Maybe I'll do one tomorrow if people want to, and if nobody does it before me
Oh God. I had a copy of Black and White II but I can't find it. I swear, if I had looked an hour before I wanted to re-install it I would have found it.

Also, how's Populus, gameplay wise, similar to B&W? I might try it out then.
Populous is not that similar to B&W really. I can give a quick run-down of the game:
You build huts to breed more villagers, which in turn can be made into different villagers. You have warriors, preachers who can convert enemies and firemen that can shoot fireballs. The more villagers you have in huts, the faster you recharge mana. Mana is needed to power your Shaman spells.
Your Shaman is an actual unit in the game, so you have to watch out for enemies. If she dies you only lose her for a couple of minutes, and you lose some mana. Every spell she has have its own attack range. The fireball for instance is great when you are close to the enemy and there is water nearby, since it flings the enemy away if you hit well enough. But once you get the lightning bolt, it is often better to use even though it costs more mana to charge. The lightning bolt is a lot better to use on buildings, since it kills a lot of the people inside, and sets the house on fire.
Some of the spells are really awesome, like all of the landscape altering ones. You can raise, lower and flatten the land. Things like earthquake and volcano also alters the landscape heavily. With enough mana you could easily make your village an island, or maybe ringed by high mountains. Then make a chokepoint for the enemy to enter, and place a deadly swamp there to kill all of them.
Oh, and here is the best video I could find of the game. They don't use many spells there, but anyway...

So! Back to B&W. Anyone know of any mods for B&W2 that makes it more like the first one? I really love everything about the first one, except the building mechanism, but I love that in the second one. Would be awesome if someone managed to mod it to be more similar.

Nah you just need to download a missing dll and add it to the folder. But oh well am too late.
I hate Ubisoft for their obvious hated for PC Gamers. From Dust will be released only for Consoles. Also with the recent fable series. Fuck you Ubisoft. Fuck. You.
I might try playing B&W with few friends to see if it works online. Also if anyone is interested in playing populous, I could help.
Must... Find this game again...
I practically nostalgia-gasmed at the Sailor song from the first game.
Couldn't breathe.
The deals on Amazon are cool looking, might have to go snag a copy (Old copy got scratched :argh:)

I thought you could get it through steam?
I played this when i was a kid and i didn't know what to do. So i just threw people around and it was fun.
Haha, I remember this. I was so obsessed of those games. I had like a 300 years old tiger who was very independent, knew every miracles and loved to fight. He'd help out my town first, then just wander off to pick on someone. He was a big bully. I miss him. :(

It will be on computer too..
How can i get my creature more good?

First or Second? In the first I show him casting miracles in the village store and what have you and he'll slowly learn how to look after the village and be benevolent.
Anybody knows how to make B&W work on the newer OSes? It`s flicking and lagging for me.
Oh and crashes. Always.

Just asking but are you patched to 1.1 and turning off AGP texture accelerating?
Is it possible to actually 'lose' in black and white 1 or 2?
Damn, how to I install B&W1 on Vista 64bit? I put in the disc and it won't run so I try to run autorun and it meses up then I run setup and it is like LOL BAD WINDOWS GO AWAY.
Upon seeing this thread I decided to re-install the original (and probably better) Black and White.

When i started i skipped the tutorial like a dumbass and went straight to the norse land (in B&W2) and he invaded before i learned how to make walls and destroyed all my stuff, before he destroyed my storehouse and all the stuff went, there were no trees in my influence zone and most of the cite zens were killed, so i lost hard
there is no game over screen though

Always wanted this as a kid, then I forgot about it.
It will be on computer too..
On Steam actually. Which is going to be awesome if it has Steam Cloud support.
Someone should make a Let's Play of Black & White.
The Movies was also a great game by Lionhead, before MS made them only make Fable games.
After the original B&W The Movies is probably Lionhead's best game.

I suspect if all your followers die you will run out of influence and power, and not be able to do anything at all.
The way to kill other gods if you recall was to kill or convert all their followers, destroy all their buildings and pummel their temple into dust.
bloody hell the second Japanese land is hard :( They send soldiers and catapults pretty much straight away, which doesn't bode well for a peaceful God, and a creature that prefers to attack trees.
From Dust or whatever it's called video and concept look promising, I hope it's going to be great.

Name me a good screenshot taking software, that isn't FRAPS and i'll do it. I have to restart my game anyway and it could be fun with Facepunch's input. :buddy:
