Real-time Physically-based smoke! It would make explosions epic. Why? HL2 explosion What i mean Well, it wasn't an explosion, but this thing could make explosions as this one (sadly it's not real-time) This explosion effect is made by the FumeFX team, maybe they should ally with Valve and start testing with this fun effect.
Streaming - no loading screens [editline]10:37PM[/editline] plz [editline]10:38PM[/editline]
Real-time Physically-based smoke! It would make explosions epic. Why?
Source Movie Maker
Does that even exist?
Existing: I like how the whole system is set up, i find it very easy to make and/or modify what i need. Addition: I think that it would be great if there were a way for higher end users to enable an actual dynamic lighting system like in UT3/borderlands and such. [editline]02:54PM[/editline]
Post what you like from the Source engine, also what you want in the next updates (Or in a new Valve engine). Physics, of course. Also i love the morph thingy (From Ravenholm, where the gas tank is, with a valve to toogle it, with the gas morphing your view.). I want dynamic watah and real-time volmetric lights in HL3.
That would be refract.
Color map support - hey, it was supposed to be in L4D.
Does that even exist?
Valve uses it to make the meet the team videos I think.
Also (very supported in UT3) when you get close to textures it doesn't look like poo, in UT3 it doesn't look like its real but its not all pixelated. Oh and of course they should add some type of DMM system.
Dynamic
Streaming - no loading screens [editline]10:37PM[/editline] plz [editline]10:38PM[/editline] Not gonna happen for a few years at least.
Impossible on source
There's a more realistic explosion mod for HL2. YouTube it.
Valve uses it to make the meet the team videos I think.
If they do use it, have they ever released it? Or will they release it?
A.I. director with enimies.
I want them to update Havok.
Some of these were probably already mentioned, if not, all of them: Larger Map Sizes Gore (L4D2 Gore in HL2, not TF2) Dynamic Surfaces (water slides off walls, roofs, ect.) Better Rain physics Clothes get wet if rained on Camera Moves when you move/large explosions in area Better graphics Dynamic Skybox's
They really need to work on map transitions. They could at least fade to black and then back in, instead of having the screen just freeze for 5 seconds.
Ditching bsp, so maps are instantly playable when you save them in hammer
There's a more realistic explosion mod for HL2. YouTube it.
Hows about you YouTube it, then send us links.
In the S.E. 2, the Red Faction: Guerrilla destroy everything type of thing would be pretty cool. Whenever Valve does anything, they pull it off better than other game devs, so I think they could do a good job with it.
If they do use it, have they ever released it? Or will they release it?
It exists, it's called Source Filmmaker, it has a nice special additions as dynamic lighting, a nice color correction and more, didn't you saw "Meet the Spy" or the Left 4 Dead and 2 intro? That's made with the Filmmaker. Some people said Valve will release it after they make all the Meet the team videos. The program (managed by the Valve devs) A Source Filmmaker sample: Also, Wikipedia has an article about it. Rate the "i" of informative!
DO WANT filmmaker
Destructive scenery

So...it IS possible for them to make movies...>:D
Dynamic water. Though I do understand with the current limitations on hardware there is no realistic way to do this. Though in about 5 or 6 years it could pop up in games... Who knows.
No lag on 1600x1200 res hehe
dynamic water realistic ragdolls a bit updated physics hi-res textures ditching .BSP maps better car driving code, the one in HL2 made me barf
I hate it when people ask for dynamic water in the Source engine and expect it to be modded in. Real-time editor Object motion blur [hd]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B43bGKVGsuM[/hd]
I love the physics, the story, and the creativity with the EP2 antlions caves. I want the ability to hide from the AI without them turning to face you, as well as not shooting you as they currently do.
Better object interaction physics...... Look at garrysmod when you stack 20 cans and let them fall.
