• Activision axes Guitar Hero series and new True Crime game

I don't think Activision saying "We're axing the Tony Hawk series" would get much attention anyway. Most people don't even know they still make Tony Hawk games.
Wow. When they kill off CoD from overexposure and WoW dies out, Activision is going to be up shit creek. Great short term profits, horrible long term planning.
Activision has basically nothing to do with WoW
Well if they keep decreasing the time between CoD releases, the exact same thing will eventually happen to it.
I wonder if Activision sits in their office and ask each other: "How can we piss them off even more?"
uh both true crime games really sucked
uh both true crime games really sucked
You say that like its a fact.
You say that like its a fact.
only the new york one was anywhere close to enjoyable
Guitar Hero, let's be honest no one really cares about it. Rock Band is much better. Another positive is there won't be GH exclusive tracks. But True Crime getting cut sucks.

What can happen though, after all the bullshit Activision gets involved in, is that they break their association. And that can only be a good thing. [editline]10th February 2011[/editline]
I'm pretty sure Activision killed Tony Hawk off just not officially.
It did actually.... Since then, nobody ever bought anything TH related....
koticks a terrible ceo
Activision sucks dick. And on the subject of Tony Hawk the best one will always be American Wasteland. Hands down.
Activision sucks dick. And on the subject of Tony Hawk the best one will always be American Wasteland. Hands down.
THUG says differently.
The first true crime was pretty bad. It's aged like a crusty shit at least. But it had Christopher Walken.
koticks a terrible ceo
actually he's a great ceo activision is rolling in the dough right now
THUG says differently.
This and Pro Skater 2 to 4 were pretty good IMO....but since THUG 2 it went downhill and died with Ride [editline]10th February 2011[/editline]
actually he's a great ceo activision is rolling in the dough right now
A good ceo makes money while making a good image out of him....Kotick makes money, yes, but makes a cunt out of himself
Activision sucks dick. And on the subject of Tony Hawk the best one will always be American Wasteland. Hands down.
The last better one.

alright guitar hero i understand why but true crime? what the fuck is the point of that unless its in development hell or something too far pricks.
alright guitar hero i understand why but true crime? what the fuck is the point of that unless its in development hell or something too far pricks.
They gave them an extra year to finish it and plenty of cash was put in. The gameplay preview CVG had seemed pretty solid too so I still think this is just to save money for a bigger pet project.
TBH I liked THPS3 best, although I acknowledge the fact that THUG's gameplay was infinitely better.
They gave them an extra year to finish it and plenty of cash was put in. The gameplay preview CVG had seemed pretty solid too so I still think this is just to save money for a bigger pet project.
It's completely understandable. Activision isn't making much money from it's franchises so it obviously has to cut a few. For example, Call of Duty has only decreased in popularity/sales since the second game to the point where it's amazing that they can afford to make new ones, and last I heard their partnership with Blizzard was in name only and they hadn't made a penny from it. It's a shame because their CEO was always such a charitable person. :downs:
I guess their thinking is: Why waste anymore money on this when we can save up for whatever is next
Activision should just close down all of its studios. Or EA should just buy them all.
Activision should just close down all of its studios. Or EA should just buy them all.
Actually, my guess is EA is going to make an offer to Harmonix....I mean why waste so much potential?
I like how Kotick knows that he will make fucktons of money no matter how stupid he acts, so he just exploits it by being a complete bell-end and making sure that every single photo of him has him with that classic shit-eating grin. Hell, I would do that too. Still, it's a shame to see True Crime go, and not something like Tony Hawk. Even Tony Hawk himself has gone down the shitter, he even tried defending Ride by saying that people just don't "get it". Now his series is just a twitching pile of gimmicky bullshit that controls like ass, with it's later games simply being a lesson for developers on what not to do with your series.

They closed down Bizarre and True Crime? Fuck. [editline]9th February 2011[/editline] It's pretty risky now, Activision now relies on one franchise (Call of Duty).
No more DJ Hero? Well I'm probably the only one that plays that game here anyway.
Guitar Hero dying makes me sad. I will never adopt rockband over it EVER. This is very sad news.
