Can I have some help with my planes? They keep pitching down when I fly them, which renders them uncontrollable.
[A decision] Has been made. It was a tough decision, but given the extreme amount of issues we've had with the RP group lately, we're removing RP support from these forums entirely. In two weeks these forums will be deleted entirely and official RP support will cease. With that, we will instead add a "KSP Fan-Works" forum, for those wishing to write stories, do some small rp etc. But the creation of nations, war, and the like will not only not be supported, but actively discouraged. I hate to see this in public, but the privilege is no longer deserved. -DR
[editline]edit[/editline] I heard the devs say something about parts being able to have multiple part types, such as a capsule that also has adv SAS capability or a fuel tank with regular and RCS fuel or something along those lines. Is this correct?

Is it just me, or are parachutes terrible now? Half of the time, the parachute tear off and the capsule crashes into the ground - killing all aboard - or the chute deploys, then fails to slow the capsule down, leading it to crash into the ground.

So, what does facepunch think about my development of the XF-3? [editline]27th May 2012[/editline] All the boosters are for take off, and are disposed with parachutes for reusability.
CardBoardBox, do your animated parts require a plugin or is it made possible by the new .Mu part format?
So, why is it that landing a simple capsule in 2x speed makes it blow up while 1x doesn't? And why can I accelerate it to 2x in cheat engine and land it without it blowing up? Seems like physics are broken when changing from 1x to 2x in-game, but not when using CE to accelerate.
this dragon is very different [editline]27th May 2012[/editline]
CardBoardBox, do your animated parts require a plugin or is it made possible by the new .Mu part format?
The mu format. Well, my plane certainly works well. I have been flying for 50 minutes now!

Have been able to get in line with the moon, get into its sphere of influence but no matter which direction I burn in I can never seem to get into orbit. The yellow ring always either gets very small and goes around the moon and back to the main planet or when I enter it the moon flies off without me. I suck at this. 22 attempts in the last week have all failed horribly. Only 3 have actually crashed into the moon.
I fail to understand how it doesnt explode on the runway.
I don't really understand it either, but it works surprisingly well. :v: I will record a video when i get the time.
Fuck it, i will make a video showing how to get to the moon. Give me some time to make a not super OP rocket.
Oh my fuck. I see land! [editline]28th May 2012[/editline] That was a bit too close.
I recommend landing on areas where it is clearly flat, i tried landing on the other side of the ocean where the KSC is and ended up always having something clipping the ground and causing everything to mess up. Edit: is that a air break flap i see on your plane?
Remember children, if you have support nodes attaching your wheels to your plane, even if it's just one between the plane and the wheel, link it with struts. You don't want to be like me, the guy who lands planes and has the wheels give out while moving 20m/s into a nearby VAB.
as much as I like the features unity has added I must say i am annoyed and pleased by it at the same time. I have exported this engine several hundred times today been trying to get it t work properly for like 8 hours... it seems there is always one thing wrong with it and it is different every time.... FFS... but in the end it is worth the learning experience.
What escape tower/capsule is that, it is in the screenshots in the OP of the Kosmos thread too I think.
Those parts look awesome.
Solid rocket boosters don't lift off when started, but when released due to next stage, they fly off, what do I do?
Finally made it to the Mun! Thanks to the watchful eye of LarparNar and emotional support from Timenova. Whilst it took the lives of 66 Kerbonaughts and 23 attempts to get here and the crew that made it are stranded for the time being I feel as though this is a step towards a brighter future!
I made a communications satellite network: [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/13781308/KSP/commsat_1.png[/t] [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/13781308/KSP/commsat_2.png[/t] [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/13781308/KSP/commsat_orbits.png[/t]
Solid rocket boosters don't lift off when started, but when released due to next stage, they fly off, what do I do?
Check your stages, make sure that the clamp isn't before, or at the same level as the booster.
I have finally installed .15
Oh my God Rendezvous! I finally started using MechJeb and I don't know how I lived without it. I was always afraid of it making the game way too easy, taking the fun out of it. Even if it does easy mode some things it can't automate everything. The larger ships I still tend to have to fly manually, and instead use MechJeb to help me out with very specific things. Not to mention you have to know how to use it and it really helps to understand the mechanics of why it does what it does too. It reminds me a lot of Wiremod in that sense. Anyway I thought Rendezvousing with stations would be super easy, especially with MechJeb. Oh man was I wrong. I've been trying to do this since last night and finally managed it just now! It's a good feel. I also really wish I had RCS on my little ship, would have made it a lot easier to move around the station.
Solid rocket boosters don't lift off when started, but when released due to next stage, they fly off, what do I do?
More boosters or less weight.
What part packs do you use, out of curiosity?
As much as I love the Down Under pack, I got tired of it constantly breaking/falling apart on me while sitting on the launch pad or while in flight, so I downloaded that one huge NovaPunch pack. It's a bit "crowded" for my tastes, in the sense that there are more parts than I will probably ever use, but it's the closest substitute I can find for Down Under. The station is made primarily out of parts from the BACE pack. It also uses parts from the still work in progress Truss pack. I tried Kosmos for station building stuff it's way too parts for me to handle. It also has a unique aesthetic that makes me feel bad when I want to mix it with other parts.
