It indicates height to sea level, not surface
He might mean how sometimes the altimeter blanks out.
But then again, my rocket can't carry shit to orbit (even adding an ASAS made it not reach geostationary) :v:
What altitude/speed do you need to be to get into geostationary orbit?
What altitude/speed do you need to be to get into geostationary orbit?
2868.4km. I think it's around 1001m/s [editline]6th June 2012[/editline] Oh god how do I have that memorized

Posting photos if you guys don't mind 85 tonne launch vehicle carrying probe to minimus 350 tonne launch vehicle carrying 3 comm sats (probably overkill) I bought this last week, I'm pretty impressed. I'm a fan of orbiter, so I like the realism yet accessibility of KSP. The COMM sat plugin in my opinion is the best addon, it adds a certain level of restraint and a nice challenge.
Where were you fox? You haven't been in the vidya thread lately.
What parts are used for that last picture fox?
Where were you fox? [editline]6th June 2012[/editline] Memory leak?
Link to those support things around the base?
http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/index.php?topic=4435.0 they are really handy.. plus, there's a lot of cool stuff in this pack. KSP uses 3 GB for me, either it uses as much as possible or it's leaking.
First time in geostationary orbit. All stock parts. This place is boring, lets go home! I actually don't have any mods yet. I find it more challenging doing the stuff with stock parts. I might download some mods just to play around with through. Rovers and sats would be fun. [editline]6th June 2012[/editline] Also, I forgot how to take in game screenshots. If you can't tell.
Meet the Third Body Solution [sp]see what I did there[/sp] :v: He gets us to the Mun, Minmus, and back home! First to Minmus! (Fun fact, while rereading Shakespeare (because I do that) I found out that Minimus is a word meaning "small creature") And back home!
Commentated da video, figured out I might not pass economics class which I need. Fuck fuck fuck i will render it and upload it later, i need to study some uhh accounting stuff and freak out more.
He gets us to the Mun, Minmus, and back home!
Wow, nice setup, what's the launch mass? I can't wait until docking comes out, that way you can launch fuel and all sorts of stuff for assembly in orbit.
Wow, nice setup, what's the launch mass? When scaled from Kerbin:vehicle to Earth:vehicle it's 840t (22% of the Saturn V) and 576m tall. So yeah, it's giant.
How do you figure out payload capabilities?
By launching the heaviest payload you can to the target.
But how do you convert the ingame mass to real life mass?
The ratio is something like 1:3 kerbin to earth.
I used 1:6, because that's what I remember from what Harv said during the early days. Could've changed though. [editline]6th June 2012[/editline] Also, I'm bored. So I'll calculate how big a human would be next to this rocket.
Downloaded the game, and got my first space ship into the air. Things immediately begin going badly as my ship begins titling as it ascends, as I try to to re-stabilize it, my three main thrusters run out of fuel. I eject them, but since I'm an idiot, I forgot to put a decoupler above the additional fuel tank. At this point I'm spinning widly out of control with the recetn decrease of weight from my ship, so I eject the empty fuel tank, and fire up the additional engine. Now spinning much more wildly out of control, I reposition my ship upward, and then proceed to smash into the free falling, empty fuel tank. K.I.A across the board, Cap'n.
Ok, maybe not. Either my calculations are wrong or a person next to that rocket is only 11 pixels tall.
Such is life on Kerbin.
Such is life on Kerbin.
'Jane, stop this crazy thing!'
The correct way to do that (AKA the most sensible rocket) is chute, capsule, decoupler, booster. That way you can eject it when it is spent, making a safer landing.
The correct way to do that (AKA the most sensible rocket) is chute, capsule, decoupler, booster. No regrets, because watching the 'Russian Glory' spin wildly out of control and then land safely into the ocean gave me the best laugh I've had in weeks. My later designs are much more sensible. I even remembered to add parachutes and everything!
Falcon heavy has a Payload :D http://www.spacex.com/press.php?page=20120529 haha.26,000 pound satellites in GTO :D It will be like space cowboys. "well how did you get it up there?" "oh we used a falcon heavy" "oh.. okay."

He would try to imitate my pro :v: designs and ended up having srbs and lfes stacked on top of each other burning each other to pieces.
