My moon rocket weighs 78.1 tons. What are you lifting that requires a 1000 metric ton spaceship? The rock of Gibraltar? [editline]12th June 2012[/editline] This game needs a fucking quicksave function. Also I don't understand why my ship rotates incredibly slowly on RCS if I don't have the engine on. Turning the engine on gives a MASSIVE boost in control. I'm guessing a part is bugged out somewhere.
There is about 5 different bugs with RCS. all of which have been reported. none of which have been fixed. They say they are unessential. But i say how is that when they are basically the only thing that allow you to move in space lol. shuttle had 3 of each thruster and they call them none essential. So unneeded you need 3 incase one fails?
Also, F5/F9 quick save/loads.
Also, F5/F9 quick save/loads.
sometimes. sometimes not :)
So I was testing my tiny RCS powered moon lander and now I'm on a sun escape orbit. Is this normal?

It's like, the RCS function normally up to my Mun lander/Orbiter and then they just seem to give almost no power. But, turn on the engine, and boom, RCS is responsive again. This makes zero sense.

My Mün rocket is 88 tons and it carries a 3 ton lander. Is that good?

The shorter the less they will do. also, what details should be on SSPP pieces?
wow the kosmos RCS thrusters are ridiculously OP this setup takes me to mun and back, without using parachutes or dropping any stage:
Ever since I got the full game, I've been on some sort of failure streak. I struggle to make a proper orbit, and most of my spaceplanes disintegrate if you look at it too heavily. Anyone got some basic tips? It's confusing, because in the demo, I made some nice orbits, but now it seems impossible.

download link plz (to be fair i downloaded kosmos from a URL someone gave to me here less than a month ago)
Hold on and we'll have the 4.1 release in about 20 minutes. Here: http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/index.php?topic=7178.0
I'm so close to making a single stage mun lander, I keep slamming into the moon though. EDIT: Is using vanilla RCS thrusters to assist on takeoff lame?

gosh they bumped up that date quickly :D was supposed to be in like September or something before the launch. SpaceX Falcon 9 August 18 Time(s): TBD Location: SLC-40, Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida The SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will launch the third Dragon spacecraft, called Dragon C3. The mission will demonstrate the rendezvous and docking with the International Space Station. The company is building the Dragon to fly on resupply missions to the International Space Station.
EDIT: Is using vanilla RCS thrusters to assist on takeoff lame?
Just think of them as really tiny boosters.
Believe it or not, this configuration works. I almost landed it, too, but the thing exploded while moving at only 3 m/s. I'll be trying again tomorrow.

C3 got merged with C2 into C2+, which just flew and docked successfully.

Has anyone else made a rocket that get to the mun and land all in one stage? I'm soo close to doing it, I'm pretty sure it's possible to do it with my build, I keep running just short on fuel while I'm landing. I'm using almost all vanilla parts, just a couple pieces from cosmos, and mechjeb. [editline]13th June 2012[/editline] I finally did it! Then KSP stopped responding when I alt-tabbed to post about it... I think I got a picture though [editline]13th June 2012[/editline] Apparently none of my screenshots have been saving. It's supposed to be printscreen right? [editline]13th June 2012[/editline] Nevermind it's f1
My whole 20 ton rocket Going well so far! Fuck Oh well, I made it to Minimus with a small one stage rocket, I'm pretty proud of that. Whenever I get really close to the ground while landing, my retrograde fucks up and I flip onto my side and crash, I feel like I have done this a dozen times. Is there a way to fix this?
Whenever I get really close to the ground while landing, my retrograde fucks up and I flip onto my side and crash, I feel like I have done this a dozen times. Is there a way to fix this?
It fucks up because you start moving upwards, and since retrograde makes you point away from the direction you're moving, it flips you over so it can keep doing its job. Once you've stopped your sideways drift, switch to the surface mode and set it to 90 degrees to stay upright instead.
I just like huge shit and I could probably do interstellar travel with my rocket :v:
Back before anything, I had this two stage rocket that used one of those huge orange balloon tanks and the E1000 engine (remember them?) that used seven srbs to get up then went 528000 or so m/s for ever and ever. Dat's how to interstellar travel.
Hello again. Its time for another update! I've been steadily making progress on props, chairs, lights, containers vents, control panels, joysticks and fully 3d interior and exterior models! Sufficient to say, its an incredibly large amount of work, especially with all the uv mapping that is required. 3ds max has been doing an excellent job of having a seizure every time I try to calculate something. It's gotten so bad that I start twitching if I haven't saved in more then 5 minutes... That said, I've fully completed the 3d models for the new pod, including the internal and external spaces. Its a lot less empty in there to be sure! You've been asking why I haven't been posting many updates. Which is a perfectly reasonable question. Its fairly straightforward and not too terribly exciting at the moment. While an animator / 3d artist may appreciate endless screenshots of completely distortion free checker patterns... Its not terribly exciting for your average person. Wow, look at those awesome UV maps, yea.. thats some nice usage of uv space and packing! So I'm saving screenshots until I get to the point where I'm baking out textures and adding fancy bits like ambient occlusion to the scene. In addition, I'll add some videos once the internal spaces are functional in the game. So you'll get an idea of the actual usage. So, in the meantime. I ask for patience and understanding! I'll post more information as I have the time. I'm beginning to see how massive an undertaking fully 3d cockpits are. It makes sense now why many games just us a flat 2d panel overlaid on your screen... -C7
