It just doesn't make sense. I'm going 50m/s rolling on the ground, then I pull up and I'm going 100m/s straight up. Then I land again on the tarmac and do it again. The game's physics engine is weird for me.
I've got the perfect kerbin->mun set up, that can get into mun orbit with the last lander stage totally full, but at some point in the process mechjeb always screws up somehow :suicide: [editline]16th June 2012[/editline] I'm too busy studying to do it manually :v:
ah. This had me laughing quite a bit. "this is a terrible idea" I found it while trying to find video of yesterdays thing in mcgregor TX but i cannot find video of it :(
That chick totally wants Elon. Also, New Vegas.
I bet she wants to board his Dragon, If you know what I mean
I'd love for the dev to make a map with just a solid earth, all tarmac. I could make the fastest land vehicle.
I just wish the devs would make it easier for modders to add their own planets to the game. I would just love to have a 90 planet solar system to challenge my rocket building skills (and my rig) with.
I use SAS and ASAS together with RCS.

What's with all the windows? And phew, landing at <0.1 m/s is so freaking stressful, but I finally made it to Minmus: Next, to the Mun!
:v: [editline]16th June 2012[/editline] hahaha oh god
That chick totally wants Elon.
Elon has 5 kids. I am sure he wouldn't mind at all :D

That's how every single one of my mun landings go, all great until the least second when it tips over.
well if a modeler makes a simple, big sphere, we can add gravity to it, the only issue is that we dont get a soi on the orbital map
Well, no persistence or timewarp either in orbit around it, and the orbital map wouldn't work. The max size of a model is around about 2km across, and even if you could make them larger, it'd lag like hell to have it detailed because you'd be rendering millions of polygons at once (there's a reason the terrain is procedural and highly complicated!).
Also did anyone see that Wal-Mart Mod? :v:
I stepped onto a stray part (one of many that surround the launch pad). Apparantly, the EVA physics still need a bit of work :p Speaking of which, this is the current Kerbal scale, compared to the old parts (The lander was already there, I just walked my spawned kerbal over to it. Don't get excited) [t]http://i.imgur.com/L2a3m.png[/t]

Its QA time!
Will Kerbals be able to adjust their orientation so they are upright for a landing, with a new set of windows looking sidwars, similar to how Apollo astronauts were standing looking sideways on the LEM when landing on the Moon?
We're still working out all the finer points of the implementation. As it stands, the rough idea, is that you'll be able to focus in on a window. So you're in essence adjusting your seat or focusing in on a position. Its a bit like some games where you can change seats, or some tank simulators that allow you to press your face up against the window. But, its still in the works right now. We'll see what we decided to go with after testing.
....also, if there is one, why no shock absorbers for the third guy?
No one cares what happens to the engineer lol. (Just kidding) In my mind there is a compression cylinder behind his seat. But, its not something you can see while in the cockpit seats or cabin. So there's not much point in rendering it.
Any chance those windows could either be enlarged or moved closer to the player's camera? Might help with visibility.
The camera in the test render is not in the pilot's seats at all. In fact the standard view is much closer to the window. We're also looking into having the ability to "focus" on a window and smoosh your face up to it. So that would serve the purpose fine.
Propellers?
I'm not doing parts this update. Only internal spaces and cockpits. In short. Not right now, but its something we would like to add.
Very interesting 2-crew pod, C7. But, shouldn't you take out a bit of space in the lower pressure vessel, to make room for "stuff"? (batteries, instruments, RCS/flywheels...) Or, is it just unfinished?
This pod is designed with support systems on the top, instead of the bottom. So you can imagine in the cut away space, there are oxygen tanks and batteries. There are also some storage containers and oxygen tanks inside the crew space itself.
If it was not already planned, it would be nice to have a custom panel in the pod, where you can place switches and flight insturments and conect them to various external components. Example: Place a switch, then conect it to some landing legs. When you click on the switch it activates the legs.
Its something we would like to do. But I'm quite sure that we won't have time to add it this update. I've already pitched the idea of having some staging or general use buttons to activate control groups. If you have something in "control group / stage 1" you can press that button. If not, the button won't do anything. Again, pretty much all of this is being decided. I'll have more information as we make progress on the implementation.
dont know if you have seen this pic before c7 but it's nice to get the idea of the insides of a space shuttle: http://360vr.com/2011/06/22-discovery-flight-deck-opf_6236/index.html
I've not actually seen this image. The references I have are much lower quality. So, this will do quite nicely. Thanks. I did see some questions about part heat. Its not being worked on right now. I'd like to add heat effects to all the parts. But there are some development considerations that need addressing first. Nothing insurmountable by any means, but it would take some time to implement. I'm sure I missed some questions, but hopefully this will answer the majority of them. I'll post more updates as I make progress on the assets.
Anyone else have the feeling that EVA is going to be completely useless because there are no objectives or missions or anything to do outside other than to walk around.
Anyone else have the feeling that EVA is going to be completely useless because there are no objectives or missions or anything to do outside other than to walk around.
I've felt this about many things, and every time I've suddenly thought of something funny to do. If anything it will probably be funny just because you can tumble little green men down hills.
Anyone else have the feeling that EVA is going to be completely useless because there are no objectives or missions or anything to do outside other than to walk around.
You're forgetting the cool factor; it'll still be pretty cool to land on the Mun/Minmus and get your dudes to walk around a bit.
I want plushies.

How can I improve this texture and make it look less shit?
Wat do
Is the engine still attached?
Is the engine still attached?
No, and no RCS fuel, I'm pretty sure they are stranded.
No, and no RCS fuel, I'm pretty sure they are stranded.
Yeah.. unless! Have you tried reversing the polarity of the gravity inducer to generate a negative-slingshot effect that will propel them off the Munar surface? [sp] Nah, I'm joking, they're pretty much fucked. [/sp]

Third flight of my shuttle: came out of orbit way too far west, out in the ocean on the other side of the africa-esque continent from KSC. After a tense journey, I ran out of gas 550m off the ground. Even still, I was able to land her perfectly on the runway. I let her roll for a while, tapped the brakes.... And watched as the shuttle skidded, flipped, and tore itself to pieces. Only two parts survived: a winglet, and the command module. Bill, Bob, and Jeb walked away scott-free. Lesson learned: I now have brake parachutes like the real shuttle for landings.
Does anyone have advice on getting to minmus without using mechjeb?
