It looks like he is scarving it in some sculpting program :/ which is stupid for mechanical.
That would be too sensible for the Kerbs to do.
In that case, there should be a space for a tiny grave yard and a little white tombstone marking each Kerbal that died for the cause. Maybe in that field on the far side of the runway.
In all seriousness I do want some sort of tracker of all my Kerbals. How many missions they flew, when they died, Flight time/Scream time ratio, and maybe a tic for successful missions... not that I have any.

Aren't those screenshots in Unity though?

You see that retarded grey orbit? Yeah, that was my first attempt at munar injection
not going well.

God fucking damnit. I set mechjeb to land, but it just crashed into the surface.
Halp?

Don't use mechjeb for landing, Moon landings are easier when you do it manually.

Excuse me, but how is extremely careful maneuvering and manual controlling of speed etc easier than simply pressing a button and watching?

Because once you've practiced it enough it works every time.
Eveidently, Mechjeb does not.
Mechjeb is terrible if your lander is heavy.
On small landers it pretty much always works for me.
How do I tell mechjeb to fly me to the Mun, anyway? I can't find anything on this matter in it's wiki.

Orbital operations
transfer to mun
simply pressing a button and watching
That does not sound like fun to me.
fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck I fucked up my munar landing because I pressed space instead of shift so I accidentally jetisoned my landing gear
Excuse me, but how is extremely careful maneuvering and manual controlling of speed etc easier than simply pressing a button and watching?
I'd rather have control over convenience.
Landing is piss easy after you've done it the first time. It seems like one of those things that's impossible until you do it once, then it becomes routine.
Unless you land on a cliff and one of your legs decides to fall off. Then you have a problem. I combat that by having an over abundance of legs so if one falls off it's still generally safe.
I made the best ship I've made yet. Can go wherever I want, extremely powerful and fuel efficient.
Also has a lot of bells and whistles. Also a lander AND a rover. All in one!

Not sure where you get your information from. The only tools I've used on this are 3ds max, photoshop and X-Normal. So there's no "sculpting" at all.
The screenshots are from the Unity editor window. The in game lighting is very approximated, which causes the shadows to look a little "wobbly", and casts lighting in places it would not normally be. The entire setup is around 6k polygons. Which is about as much as a single Kerbal.
i think mechjeb is useful for those missions that you keep failing, like trying to land on the minmus.
the first 3 times, you get into the minmus' orbit but you can't land because you ran out of fuel
the next 2-3 times, you can land but you can't slow down because you ran out of fuel
so, eventually this get tedious, and you put mechjeb on your ship, and it just does all the getting into kerbin orbit and stuff while using as little fuel as possible, letting you actually properly burn to minmus (because mechjeb can't transfer to minmus for some reason)
though, at this point getting into a 200km orbit for me is easy as fuck so
orbital stats are useful though
Mech jeb could be used in other ways, most of my large launch vehicles are controlled by increments using smart ASS "surface" button. just change the pitch until you get the desired launch curve.. it won't be as smooth but if you pay close attention it does the job.
I never use the automatic ascent or transfer orbit thingy.
I just use the SMART A.S.S. to point me in the direction I want, then I do thrust manually.
I like to use the landing autopilot for smaller ships though, larger heavy ones I do manually.
Works pretty well for me.
Example of how I do ascent with Mechjeb:
Fly by the moon.
by Adrian.
Wow, interesting times we are living on earth, space-wise speaking. You can now buy yourself a ticket to do a flyby around the moon. Please, if you decide to buy a ticket, consider buying 2 and you can give us one, a KSP dev will gladly accompany you and entertain you the whole way. It’s only 100 million USD each ticket.
Damn.
The ride aboard a refurbished russian spacecraft includes real astronaut training, which means learning to fly the ship back home in case of emergency. You also get a preliminary sub orbital flight so you can get a taste of zero gravity before the big day.
In the meantime, while you add to your bank account, keep on training with KSP, next release includes EVA and IVA so not only can you fly the ship around the Mun, you can land and take our beloved Jebediah out for a moon walk.
Happy launching.
EVA, AND IVA! YES!
I really dont like the blog, because Harv dev-post arent on it, it seems useless to me.
I wanna put a stream up.
Good idea?

Maybe. Maybe not.
But I do know I will be taking music requests for your ~viewing pleasure~

NOW I realise what I've been seeing wrong with KSP since the very start.
The anisotropic filter is GODAWFUL.

Well, from a distance it looks fine, but when you're up close like in the first screenshot it's artifacts ahoy cap'n texture errors off the port bow

This is my latest variation on my Mun Rover. The first stage, the tri coupler one, is used to get i into orbit, the second stage is used to land, as the Rover's engine itself is not powerful enough to decelerate enough for landing, the next stage is used to maneuver the craft off the stage below, that then decouples from the rover itself, which lands, and drives around surveying the landscape.
Hopefully when Kars is added it will be able to get there with minimal modifications. I would, however, definitely add a set of chutes on it, to take advantage of the actual atmosphere.
EDIT: Realised a small design flaw that has now been fixed, the landing gear on the second stage would not touch the ground.
