I came the closest I'd ever been to a moon landing; had the descent all figured out, was decelerating perfectly to come in at less than 10 m/s, and 2000m above the surface my engine died
Does anyone know why they took the rendezvous module out of the newest MechJeb? It pisses me off.
Holy fuck it'll be a week before I get this update. They better get better servers for next time.

So after literally over 20 tries with the patcher, I downloaded it finally 2 hours ago. And now I just got my first vanilla spacecraft to the Mün and had a circular 2,800 meter orbit so I decided to go on an EVA with Jeb to see how low I could go without crashing into the terrain. Well, Jeb isn't coming back :( [editline]1[/editline] These are some pictures I managed to snap just minutes prior to the incident: Cruising above the surface at 564.7 m/s [editline]2[/editline] New mission status: Bob decided to see if he could ram the spacecraft out of it's orbit, he managed to change the vessel's speed by about 0.7 m/s and cause it to rotate uncontrollably. So of course, he decided to ram it even harder and now I'm afraid I only have Bill left. RIP.
Shame, I had a similar issue - next time I'll EVA the most important crewmember and try using his pack to land :P
I tried that, I was going way too quickly though and the crew member didn't survive the landing.
Does anyone know why they took the rendezvous module out of the newest MechJeb? It pisses me off.
It probably ended up broken as hell due to the patch and he wanted a quick release. Hell, the rendevous module is broken as hell in the first place. Nevermind the fact that there is absolutely no indication of how to use the fucking thing and it doesn't use the warp functions properly.
Up to the moon we go. [editline]22nd July 2012[/editline] *Beep* Excium has landed, over. *Beep* Rover deployed.
This was posted on the forums so most of you probably haven't seen it:
Hello, everyone. We realize that the 0.16 release has been pretty rocky, particularly for Mac users. We had a few problems with deploying 0.16, and eventually had to roll back the new system and didn't have enough time to test the deployment to the old one. We realize this has caused several major problems via your feedback, and we're working on fixes. However, please realize that this is the weekend and much of the company is out trying to decompress from the stresses of the work week. Because of this, we won't be able to deploy the aforementioned fixes until Monday, or until we manage to get a hold of someone who can package and deploy the fixes. We realize this isn't ideal for you, the customer, but we're trying to get these fixes delivered to you as soon as possible. Until then, before reporting any issues, please read this hurriedly-prepared list of known issues. I'll try to keep them updated. Thank you for understanding.
Source
I need to practice rocket design some more. I still can't land consistently.
Well shit. It actually updated. Time to EVA!
I have the issue that my rockets blow up mid flight. It's a completely straight rocket, and it isn't overheating but the fuel tanks in the middle just explodes sometimes.
has mechjeb been updated yet?
Yes
I have the issue that my rockets blow up mid flight. It's a completely straight rocket, and it isn't overheating but the fuel tanks in the middle just explodes sometimes.
Look closely at them during flight. I had the same issue with a certain rocket design using the new stock parts. As it flew the middle wobbled slightly, and as the atmosphere thinned and flight characteristic changes the wobble worsened enough to cause it to knock against the outer set of fuel tanks and blow the fuck up. Struts and done. The new MK2 set of parts seems to be a lot more prone to wobble, I don't like it.
is there like a jet tutorial or something. i build jets but they take off, want to go straight up, stall and crash. i have like no control over them (and i'm using the wings that give control too)
Wow this game got really good since I last played. Didn't even have the moon yet.

Finally managed to get to the Mun in this update. Ended up having to use mostly the old parts though, since the new decouplers are useless.
is there a way to disable that?
The reason it goes on rails is to keep Unity from simulating orbits for 200 objects

is it me or are the command mod's a lot more tough ?
is it me or are the command mod's a lot more tough ?
They're pretty tough, but in that example, it had a softer landing thanks to landing on the parachute.
I hope they'll add heat effects to the new engines soon.
hmm so using mun as a slingshot to minmus really isn't that hard. saves on fuel and i don't think i could get a 3 person crew there any other way. can do a video if you guys want. our 2 kerbins up in orbit (i put another one up there since the last i posted) and their ship 10 km away, within easy RCS pack distance. Fuck, I am going to have to redo my tutorial on landing on the mun which I have delayed due to the video file going corrupt, AGAIN. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/GIQ4V.png[/img_thumb] Oh god where is his body. Anyway I hope it downloads for me.
Is it me or do the ladders automatically extend when near the mun? I didn't activate it, and I looked at it (while it was closed) just a minute ago
Ugh I want to buy this, but the site won't load properly.
