EVA's are fun.

i wonder if they even properly tested it.
Gonna do this landing as follows

Once landed, I'll get bill and jeb in the habitat module and let bob fly back home, launch another 2 craft near the habitat, let some people in and launch those 2 crafts back to earth too, that way I'll have just the habitat there with 5 kerbals inside.
[editline]23rd July 2012[/editline]
Or I put in jeb and bill right now, in space.
just did a fake rescue mission on the mun
was literally inches away from hitting the "damaged" ship twice. One with a useless fuel tank and the second with the lander.
I attempted a mun landing after figuring out how to throttle my initial ascent to avoid implosion.
I had four of those radial engines on a two-stack tank. They were, how you say, completely ine-fucking-fective in changing my speed once I discarded the transfer stage. Hrm.
Also using the launch clamps to test things is fun as shit
I landed with 3 radials at 0.8m/s, went very smooth.
fucking patcher still doesn't want to work for me, downloaded it 100% several times now.

why not use mechjeb?
why not use mechjeb?
Why not learn to pilot yourself rather than letting the computer do it?
why not use mechjeb?
Because I prefer to do things manually for the first time around at least, and in general. Also I've used mechjeb before, unless the autothrottle option attempts to hold the craft together it wouldn't help in that case.
...I think I also just realized why my design was ineffective. My landing legs are directly beneath the radial engines. I clamp-tested them to see if they would be damaged and they weren't, but, they must still be getting caught in the backwash.
D'oh.
Why not learn to pilot yourself rather than letting the computer do it?
Because after crashing/sunslinging 500 times, piloting just becomes frustrating and you'd rather test your craft without the influence of user error.
Landed my habitat

gonna fly back the upper part now
Anyone got any tips for rendezvous? I'm trying to meet up with a space station to swap the crews however I really suck at the whole thing.
Fuck that! KSP deleted my habitat part of the lander with Jeb and bill in it! Next time, I'll stick mechjeb on it so it's registered as a vessel and doesn't despawn when it feels like it.
RIP
Just a quick update regarding Kerbalnet. The mod creation process is completed and all that really remains is a bunch of user-management schtuffs and some admin controls.
We hope to have it ready to be tested within a few days but we might need to get a new VPS though depending on what kind of download speeds we get, can you guys please download this test file and tell me how fast it is, it should be faster than kerbalspaceprogram.com hosted files at least.
Server is AP region so European and American users are my main target for the download speed test.
Thanks guys
Do the KW parts work or did the new engine system and stuff break them?

So I take it we are happy with the download speeds for now at least? If so I can get back to the actual programming :D
ARGH.
Still getting the "cannot apply patch" error. I just wish they'd put 0.16 up in the KSP Store...
Mission control, we have touchdown! Going down the ladder now!

That's... One small step... For a kerman, One... giant leap for Kermenkind.
A group foto that was taken with one of the three onboard cameras:

And lastly, the lander that took them there with room for 8 Kerbalnauts:

They do work, but the fuel efficiency is abit hit and miss.
I will go through the files tonight and see if I can rebalance them to conform to the new changes. Seeing as I have nothing better to do.
Is it just me or is the fuel efficiency of the new tanks/engines absoloutely freaking terrible?
Anyone got any tips for rendezvous? I'm trying to meet up with a space station to swap the crews however I really suck at the whole thing.
What I've been told is that the basic idea is to get into roughly the same orbit as it, then change to a slightly smaller/larger orbit to catch up/let it catch up with you. Then you have to maneuver over once you're pretty close, and try to get into the same orbit again (so your velocity matches your target's).
Also, make sure you're at the same orbital plane as it, or you'll never see it.

I'm not having much trouble with them. I built a little one stage rocket like before, and I get into about the same orbit as 0.15.
I mean the bigger ones, not the regular small ones.

The ones that fit with the new 3-man capsule? They're working fine for me so far.
Why not learn to pilot yourself rather than letting the computer do it?
why is everyone so anal about piloting yourself?
I honestly don't care, mechjeb puts the hard parts into space so I can dick around with them.

Yeah, personally I much prefer to see if my rockets can work, as opposed to seeing if I can fly my rockets
I want to make a rocket that takes off horizontally with wings, detaches the wings after takeoff, and flies horizontally out of Kerbin and into space. Can I do that?
Ohshi, landing went wrong, moon base fell apart, so now it's up to Jeb to rescue Bill, or at least, bring him a base so he can breathe. I have a feeling it won't go well.
and woolio, provided you have enough thrust and fuel, getting you enough speed, it's possible.
MADE IT

Completely botched the landing but everyone survived.
Flying with MMU in mun + Hitting the ground at high horizontal velocity (not too high so that the kerbal doesn't die) = Fun
