Does anyone know how to make airlocks on parts?
Gotta say this update is so damn awesome. Never expected this game to get this big. Who could imagined we'd get EVA Kerbals a few months back.
I think the guys in Squad have learned so much over the course of making this. It has grown so much.
Its funny, there's probably more content in game at this time in dev vs. Minecraft at this time for a better price.
Well just downloading 0.16 since the update broke on me again. The first thing i'll be doing is deorbiting while in EVA :v:
Doesn't work, the Kerbals fly off half way down for no reason.
mine still wont patch :( could anyone PLEASE pm me a torrent or a download link to the latest version? please?
.16 should be on the download page now
Finally with the new update my detachable unmanned rover system works, before it would always fall through the Mun when I tried to switch control. You can also make a glitch Kerbal carry system by putting a ladder under a Mechjeb pod then switch to the pod when the kerbal is on, this somehow keeps the Kerbal hanging onto the rover but sometimes he might get thrown off. how do you get unmanned pods? the part I used to use is broken now
I've just started playing, is there any mods out there that I really need? There's too few parts :(
Kosmos is good, but all the links are dead. KW Rocketry is good, but not fixed for the new update. Wait a bit.
still crying someone please get me the stock parts included in 0.16, i dont have spaceplane parts and most stock parts :(
Download from the store page.
Do it manually, that always works. Mechjeb is for pussies, real men do it like the real Jeb.
Doing stuff manual was fine for the first 30 rockets I (attempted) to fly up. MechJeb is just nice once you're bored of getting into Kerbin orbit.
Doing stuff manual was fine for the first 30 rockets I (attempted) to fly up. MechJeb is just nice once you're bored of getting into Kerbin orbit.
This. You eventually reach a point where you feel so comfortable getting things into orbit manually that it becomes repetitive and you want it automated. Besides, it's way more efficient.
So anyone figure out how to use autom8 really? Other than r4m0n's test lua file, I haven't seen anyone else do anything with it.
Is mechjeb able to auto-land you on the mun with target selection? I'd imagine it be very difficult or at least very time consuming to land in a specific spot on the mun.
type in coords, hit land [editline]24th July 2012[/editline] or select target on map
Is mechjeb able to auto-land you on the mun with target selection? I'd imagine it be very difficult or at least very time consuming to land in a specific spot on the mun.
it isn't either of those really, once you done a few mun landings, you can design and use landers which got enough fuel to get in mun orbit and waste some fuel on target landing yourself. Basically it goes like this 1: get in orbit around mun 2: adjust orbit so that it goes over the target 3: retro burn to get a sub-orbital route until the end of the line is near the targer (NOTE: the mun still rotates, so perhaps time warp every now and then, increasing and decreasing speed so that you'll get the exact spot) 4: land 5: perhaps do some small adjustments by hopping around the lander [editline]24th July 2012[/editline] but yeah, mechjeb does a decent job getting you within 0-10 KM from your target, depending how your current route is and how much mechjeb can adjust it.
mechjeb gets within 500 meters i've found
So, I started to give Bill, bob and jeb missions to orbit Kerbin, the Mun and Minmus in orbital mapping ships, sadly the mun slingshotted bill back to kerin on his attempt to minmus, so instead he's launching and landing a mun base while we wait for the mun to orbit enough to not be in the way.
I've had MechJeb land me 10m away from where I told it to. It's usually within 100m for me, but I use pretty small landers.
This is usually the result of landing autopilot (this was manual though!) [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/41041550/Pictures/KSP/moonmission/precision.png[/t]
Oh man seeing how freaking good these developers are i gotta go ahead and scrape together 10 bucks
MechJeb's landing profile is weird though IMO. If you've never seen it land before, it looks like its going to overshoot the landing target by 20 km, then lands right where you want it
My rule with MechJeb is, if you can do it once by yourself, you are free to use MechJeb. That way I know I could replicate each and every action, but this way I save time. It doesn't feel like cheating if I know I'm only using these tools to assist in making things quicker.
Oh man seeing how freaking good these developers are i gotta go ahead and scrape together 10 bucks
Thought it was 18?
it's a million megabytes and my connection is slow as crap
I don't think it's much less through the patcher.
Anyone figure out how to define hatches and ladders on parts?
Only in ksp is the arrival of the rescue party for a stranded lander heralded by a kerbal bouncing across the moon for a kilometer before finally slamming into the side of the stranded lander in question
