Does anyone have any good tips on how to bring larger stuff (like 8 habitats) to the mun? It's really hard.
More. Rockets.

How do I find out my Thrust-to-Weight ratio?

Calculate it yourself. Have fun.
What approach are you using at the moment?
I'm using parts from this mod and vanilla. Thing is it behaves like shit around 10 km. I have no idea how to control it.

It's probably the solid rockets lightening up causing the top to have a higher mass, making it want to flip.
Don't put boosters under things.

mah rocket before booster separation [thumb]http://horobox.reager.org/u/Orkel_1343419850.png[/thumb] and after it [thumb]http://horobox.reager.org/u/Orkel_1343461962.png[/thumb] and at the very end [thumb]http://horobox.reager.org/u/Orkel_1343463264.png[/thumb]
Which mod has the best solar panels? I want one for the orbital station I'm making.
I would say Kosmos. Especially because they are powered so they actually turn to face the sun.
What can you use the power for? I just added them for looks, but it'd be nice if they served a practical purpose.
Except Kosmos is nuked off the internet atm since none of the links work.
They don't collect power, I just meant as in they had motors which would turn them. Its a nice effect when you first deploy them.
after many tries to get this thing up without having parts blow off @ max Q, I got a nice cinematic stage separation.
First orbit around Kerbin!
Or do it my way: Make the rocket much bigger than necessary Take off whenever you feel like it Get to somewhere around 100Km as efficiently as possible. Burn prograde to extend the apoapsis to 11Mm After coasting out to somewhere near the Munar orbit, burn prograde some more to tidy up your orbit Realise that due to poor planning, the mun is now on the opposite side of its orbit to you Adjust your orbit to a lower altitude than the Mun and let the chase begin (you may play the Benny Hill theme if you like) Once you get close you may need to prograde burn until you have a Mun encounter on your orbit projection. Wait until you are captured, then wait till you reach the periapsis Retrograde burn like a kayaker heading for a waterfall, until your orbital velocity is a single figure. Your orbit should look like a straight line, pointing downwards Drop out of the sky like a rock Luckily you packed a lot of fuel, didn't you? Keep burning occasionally to stop yourself becoming a new geological feature. Make sure you are always pointing towards the retrograde marker until you land. So long as you get your velocity down really low before you hit the surface, you'll be fine. It may require more fuel that other methods, due to hasty last minute adjustments, extra engine burns to chase the Mun around like a lunatic and vertical landing from a great height, but that can be solved by trial and error using the age old Kerbal tradition of: "If something went wrong, it was due to a lack of rockets".
We have a job opening here at the Krussian space program, we'd like to offer you the position as you show brilliant methods to your rocketry.
Well... fuck.
My first Mun orbit! Woooohoo
I wish there was a way to remove the "launch tower" from next to the pad Making big rockets is nigh impossible because they clip into it at start and blow up the moment the game has finished loading
You can actually move the rocket forward/back/left/right in the VAB and it moves relative to the launch pad. I learned that the hard way by having a rocket spawn inside the tower.
I wish there was a way to remove the "launch tower" from next to the pad Making big rockets is nigh impossible because they clip into it at start and blow up the moment the game has finished loading
Copy the rocket over to the SPH, and launch it there.
have my babies
You can also now move it above and use the clamps to make it start higher up as well.
My mission of getting my Kubble Telescope into a circular orbit around Kerbin. So far, it's going well, the only thing I can't sort out is the orbit part. I get to 100km above the surface easily but once I try to orbit, all hell breaks loose. I start slowly falling towards the center of Kerbin, gaining speed as I fall. Here's pictures of my latest endeavor, however, it ended in failure as I couldn't achieve orbit:
Here she is, preparing for take-off, the pride of our nation. She will deliver our first ever telescopic satellite into orbit, which will further aid our space initiative program!

Blast off! The force of her rockets are devastating, many a scientist has been left awe-struck at the sheer force and ingenuity of her design.

First stage is a success, an audible sigh of relief can be heard in the control room. So far so good!

Here she is without the outer boosters and fuel tanks, a lot skinnier, but the first stage has done it's job. Onwards, to the great abyss!

Second stage successfully ejected, most of the difficult part of the mission has passed. It should be easy sailing from here on out.

A view of the Kubble Telescope, nestled safely in the middle of the ship. Not long now until it's orbiting Kerbin and sending us back beautiful images of the great void.

Boosters ejected, no need to keep them on as deadweight. At this stage, the ship is around 80km above sea level.

Last stage ejected. This stage is just for orbital adjustment, however, Kerbal scientists haven't quite concocted the recipe for orbital rockets yet, but I assure you, we will not rest until we achieve this mighty goal.
To get into orbit make sure you're trying to go sideways at your apoapsis (the highest point in your arc). If you don't wait until then to circularize, you'll ruin your trajectory.
Paypal still won't take the card. This is hilarious and sad at the same time. Any huge difference between the demo and 1.6? Because I may not be able to buy the game at all.
well, I got to the moon, kinda. Realized the landing wheels were too high, too late. The engine hit the ground and made the lander flip over and the engine got ripped off, still running. Time for a resque mission
