Where can I find the habitat module?
A friend of mine is interested in making the music for KSP.
Needless to say I'm reeeeally rooting for it to happen.
this is late as shit but I was wondering why the soundcloud name was familiar...
turns out I've had this guy bookmarked for ages :v:
Mechjeb got Newly Kerman to the mun, but he landed on the side of a hill and fell over. After twiddling around with the landing gear, I decide to launch another rocket, piloted by Newly Kerman, and I send it to land near the first one. I then EVA Newly to go to the rescue ship. With 2km left to the rescue ship, he goes splat. The second Newly tries to get back to kerbin but runs out of fuel after getting an orbit.
Im trying to recreate some of the radical fairing designs I made back in 0.9 and whatnot

Oh my god I can't wait to drop a probe into a gas giant.
IS anyone else watching MSL from eyes on the solar system? it is amazing. you can see what mars looks like to MSL live :D and you can watch the altitude dropping. it is like KSP but i have no control 0__O I will keep it open all day and watch mars get bigger and bigger

The simulation is very neat.
would be awesome to see that in person 0__O or have real images like that.
well they said it was going to film the 7 minutes of terror
Does anybody know where I can find the parts packs Krail9 is using? I want that claw.
Damned Robotics most likely.
OH YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME. MSL lands when I'm on the bus on the way to work :(

Btw, does anyone know if there are going to be any livestreams or something of the curiosity landing?
has anybody tried the telemetry plugin?

Here's a sample of the data recorded. It's very detailed.. plus you can save the raw data to a file.
The sudden drops in acceleration and velocity marks staging sequences. I think the spikes in the acceleration portion is angular momentum caused by vibrations. It's pretty cool, you can also use the groundtrack tool to see where your craft is on the map.

You're also being a fucktard.
There's no need for MechJeb to be in the game, it should be optional so that people who actually want it can get it, when they know how the stuff works.
There is however, no need to act like you did in that thread. Try to explain things instead of telling people to fuck off.

I don't get the hostility toward mechjeb.
The the ingame instruments are woefully bad. I have genuine trouble orientating myself the the navball, and the ability to actually have the game point me in the right direction is great. The orbital mechanics in KSP isn't difficult; all the imagined difficulty comes from the game's utter lack of sufficient information. Eyeballing your orbits leads to wasting fuel, you can't align your planes right because you have to eyeball both your orbit (anti)normal directions and and your nodes. Landing is a crapshoot because you don't actually know how fast you're gonna hit the ground, you don't know your horizontal speed or your acceleration.
I understand that you might consider it making the game too easy, but it doesn't make the physics any less complex, just adds some much needed stats.
Mechjeb as it is maybe wouldn't be a good addition to the game, but KSP needs the same wealth of information granted by mechjeb.
[editline]5th August 2012[/editline]
Hell, the only reason I'm not playing orbiter instead is because it doesn't have quite the same interactivity as KSP
With the addition of planets there should be a planetary probe similar to the Viking missions or Phoenix that you can launch in place of a capsule. That way you can explore the solar system without worry of having to return your intrepid crew. Instead of having the kerbalnaut portraits it can have portraits of kerbals in a white button up shirt, black tie, glasses with pens in pocket and a headset on. Basically the generic NASA mission control attire.

Stats are good. But when someone celebrates their first mun landing and then it turns out it was done for them, I lose a little respect for them.
Before all you jump on me about how NASA has programmed rockets, the LEM was flown manually.

Lots of things are flown manually.
I agree that people should get a feel for the game, and try it out manually first, but once you get to a certain point there is no need to keep doing the same things manually over and over.

In other news, the telemetry plugin is nice:

I've given mechjeb to total newbies and they've had as much success with it as they would without it.
What good is knowing that you can click "this" button to set you apogee to 1Mm, if you don't know what an apogee is? For that matter, what's? the difference between hitting a button and giving a computer do it for you and you simply waiting for perigee and turning on your engines until you get the right apogee?
Oh yeah, there isn't a difference, beyond that one seems to give you a sense of achievement that is unwarranted. Congrats, you managed to hit a button at the correct time!

Yes, but all of the math had already been done.
Anyway, here's the sun from 90Gm away:

and here's the sun from 1.1Mm away:

Small difference.

The game is hardly realistic in the first place, why is this even relevant? It's for fun, not for respect.
Why can't we stop fighting and all be friends!
After all, one of the greatest moments in space history is about to happen! (9 hours 27 minutes)
(One of the greatest, after the really big ones of course)
Edit: Um this time is wrong it was until cruise stage separation.
It's ~9:25 now.
Now I feel really stupid.
I've had lots of practice at belittling people for holding double standards, whether they realise it or not. It's nothing personal, I've just gotten so used to dealing with people who will not give up their ideas that I've started just hammering it in with maximum hostility.
I like you a lot more than I did ten minutes ago just because you said that.
I'm currently using Mechjeb to build a modular station design, something that would be nearly impossible without it. I realize that it may be seen as cheating, but my goal is not to simply get something into Orbit, my goal is to get brave Kerbonauts living up there, with shuttles to and from the station.
That said, I'm going to be doing my first Mun and Minmus flights manually, aside from getting into a Kerbin orbit. I've done that many times, and it's tedium that I don't need.
