Just started playing, and I finally got my ship to stay in space. Though apparently it was only because I exploited a bug.... Poor Kerbil Kerman has been orbiting the sun for about a century now. Next step is to crash into Mun. Here, have a video of one of my first attempts.

Can you rename things on the map? I'd like to rename my lander to something like Research Base I.
Can you rename things on the map? I'd like to rename my lander to something like Research Base I.
You can probably do this in the save file, I haven't tried before. Remember to backup the save first.
One way someone could make a reentry effect mod would be to make a very small weightless part that is pretty much a solid booster with zero thrust, that triggers at a certain altitude above kerbin while travelling at a certain speed, while altitude is decreasing

Reentry effects would be great by the time they release the new planets.
Can you rename things on the map? I'd like to rename my lander to something like Research Base I.
Go to your KSP folder and find the persistent file in the save folder and open it in notepad. You can find your craft and rename it in there.
Is that outer moon eccentric and inclined. That's gonna be interesting :v:
I'm guessing they'll remove minmus when the solar system is in?
I'm guessing they'll remove minmus when the solar system is in?
Why?
I'm guessing they'll remove minmus when the solar system is in?
Uh no thanks I like my peppermint pluto.
I'm guessing they'll remove minmus when the solar system is in?
Why would they do that? No point.
Actually, I wonder if there'll be new time warp options to accommodate how absolutely fucking long it will take for your orbit to sync up with that of another planet's (even running at maximum warp takes a long time to even complete one orbit around the sun). A "Skip until inside another gravity well" option would probably reduce a lot of waiting.

Note to self: Stop trying to land the rocket that is supposed to get the space plane to the Mun. I'm wondering if the values for joint strength are found in a specific location. I often modify my parts to have a high impact tolerance to simulate more enjoyable crashes without having everything be bullshit and explode, and I'd like to make the joints between parts a little weaker to compensate for this.
Why?
because frozen methane lakes are not the most realistic thing you'd find on an earth-analogue's moon dunno i always just thought it was a temporary thing to tide us over until we got some real planets
because frozen methane lakes are not the most realistic thing you'd find on an earth-analogue's moon dunno i always just thought it was a temporary thing to tide us over until we got some real planets
Planets made of solidified Iodine and Uranium aren't exactly normal occurances either.
Planets made of solidified Iodine and Uranium aren't exactly normal occurances either.
you can tell i'm not a huge fan of the fluro green and purple planets [editline]10th August 2012[/editline] i like minmus but it really belongs out with the gas giants [editline]10th August 2012[/editline] is iodine atmosphere the official explanation for the purple planet? there's so much wrong with that i can't even
Actually, I wonder if there'll be new time warp options to accommodate how absolutely fucking long it will take for your orbit to sync up with that of another planet's (even running at maximum warp takes a long time to even complete one orbit around the sun).
you can tell i'm not a huge fan of the fluro green and purple planets [editline]10th August 2012[/editline] i like minmus but it really belongs out with the gas giants
Well that's your opinion, which you're entitled to. But... I think you may be the only one with this opinion. I love minmus

I just made it up since that was the only element I know of that can be that purple. And I'm with you on the planets' unrealistic nature but I like Minmus where it is.
Well that's your opinion, which you're entitled to. But... I think you may be the only one with this opinion. I love minmus
that's what forums are for right :) seriously I don't mind either way, for some reason I just had it in my head that they'd move/remove it
I hope they allow modders to create planets. That would be incredible. [editline]edit[/editline] I hope there will be some moons or something like Phobos (not rounded): [t]http://wanderingspace.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/phobos_orbit756_sml.jpg[/t]
Darn it, I was preparing for a flame war to defend the honor of my most favored ice-cream green celestial body. Guess I'd better put away the random insult generator.
Are there even any gases that color besides Radon?
What's wrong with crazy-science planets? Kerbals are cartoonish little green men, who live on a Charon-sized yet earth-like planet, orbiting a white dwarf star. A purple planet? We must draw the line somewhere!
I wouldn't be surprised if there was a jelly planet that you would simply bounce off into space from without regard as to how hard you actually impacted it.
Are there even any gases that color besides Radon?
Radon is colourless there's plenty of gases like that :v: Chlorine is kinda green if that's what you were talking about
