Has anyone got any tips on launching and balancing a station?
Has anyone got any tips on launching and balancing a station?
Use LOTS of thrust vectoring thrusters, disposable wings and if the case requires it, simple SAS. You are also going to need a fucking shitload of RCS.
I hope they make it easier to scroll trough the ship list in the tracking station for 0.17, seeing how I most likely end up with atleast 1 lander on almost all planets. Perhaps sorted like "ships near planet X" , with the cam switching over to that planet
I hope they allow modders to create planets. That would be incredible. [editline]edit[/editline] I hope there will be some moons or something like Phobos (not rounded): [t]http://wanderingspace.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/phobos_orbit756_sml.jpg[/t]
I'd like some lumpy moons/asteroids/comets (a comet to land on would be awesome), but the current altitude meter would be even worse on something that irregularly shaped. It'd probably be fine if one of the new parts was a distance sensor for landing.
[thumb]http://i.imgur.com/R9en3.jpg[/thumb] The second KSC is located in some kind of 'K' or 'H' (probably K). I wonder what it's for. It's located here: [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/I4uZl.png[/thumb]

The purple planet reminds of a picture I took in Space Engine a few days ago.
It's located here: [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/I4uZl.png[/thumb]
Thanks for the map, actually. I've been trying to go there in a plane, but I apparently was going the wrong way the whole time (explains why I couldn't find it). Doesn't the purple navball indicator point to KSC2?
The purple planet reminds of a picture I took in Space Engine a few days ago.
Why KSP dont look like that :(

And as you can see in the screenshot it kinda points towards it. So maybe that's what it's for (the navball indicator).
i get that kerbin is small and all but why can't we have actual jupiter sized planets? that gas giant looks small
I think it's because the physics gets REALLY buggy when you have large objects ingame, according to a post that one of the devs made on the topic of an Earth sized Kerbin.
i get that kerbin is small and all but why can't we have actual jupiter sized planets? that gas giant looks small
This is a render of Jupiter from Europa (with a 60 degree FOV). That green giant is still decently sized, I guess.
I don't know why everyone cares so much about the realism of the color of planets. It was never meant to be a simulator.
It does look a bit odd though. I suppose its alright.
They really should have chosen a different color. Preferably one that is both pleasing to look at and scientifically realistic. Seriously, it's almost as if they were choosing those colors for the planets only because they are impossible.
It's a game about launching little screaming green men into space, on rockets put together with duct tape and superglue, and you're having problems with stuff being the wrong color....
I think the green is fine. At least it's not brown or cyan or some other stupid and boring colour.
here's a test of a new design for my spacecraft: plenty of fuel to land on those new gas giant moons, and maybe even return. I can already imagine gas mining plugins when the next version comes out.
Also, can anyone explain to me where does this "it's made out of trash cans and paper mache held together by hopes and dreams" thing come from?
I believe it's from the earlier versions where every part had the description: "Found lying be the side of the road" or something.
It's a game about launching little screaming green men into space, on rockets put together with duct tape and superglue, and you're having problems with stuff being the wrong color....
Its too kiddy that a gas giant (probably made of chlorine) is that color, and little green men are the cliche and there's really no visible duct tape anywhere. I think they are moving away from that with the new models

Currently the .cfg marks max and min drag at 0.2 but parts will slow down parts to a measly ~150 m/s upon impact on the ground. Dropping from low orbit should be at least 250 m/s for 1m parts and maybe 230 m/s for 2m parts. More aerodynamic parts would go 300 m/s at least. Just though I would throw that out there.
Squad guys are over talking with KurtJMac on his twitch tv: www.twitch.tv/kurtjmac [editline]10th August 2012[/editline] Right now he has: HarvesteR DamienRain Adrian (Mu, I think) And soon Cap'n Skunky. They're working on getting it to Steam!

Nova just joined [editline]10th August 2012[/editline] You will be able to add planets and moons in 0.17, allegedly.
You will be able to add planets and moons in 0.17, allegedly.
When was that said? And what did they just say that made everyone in chat go woot and stuff?
