So I was testing the thrust power for a new space station when something breaks and destroys half of it shortly after take off. Leaving it in free fall without a parachute pointing down, I decide to deploy the solar panels facing towards the ground hoping it would glitch and save the life of the crew.
[IMG_THUMB]http://i.imgur.com/XNO3P.jpg[/IMG_THUMB]
It saved the remnants of the station but just hit the ground hard enough to destroy the command capsule. Fuck.
[QUOTE=Pelf;37169729]It's probably this:

I want this so bad right now oh my god.
Maybe they could add a new building, something sort of like JPL. Except, call it the Rocket Propulsion Laboratory or something. There you would build rovers, satellites, and probes in greater detail than what you could get in the VAB. You add parts like different wheels, suspension, cameras, rockets, power systems, experiments, you name it. (and in the full game, better parts could be researched) then when you are done building your probe you encapsulate it in a shell and save it. Then in the VAB there's a "Rocket Propulsion Laboratory" category that has all your pre-built probes, rovers and satellites in their nice little shells waiting to be mounted to a rocket.
You can barely even see Kerbol from this far, but we're still in orbit.
Anyone know how high/fast you need to go to escape Kerbol's SOI?

Once docking gets added, I will go and try to make the Pegasus from "voyage to the planets"
[img]http://cumbriansky.files.wordpress.com/2009/06/mship.jpg[/img]
and fly it to each of the planets in the kerbal system.
[editline]11th August 2012[/editline]
it is gonna be really, really big, laggy and unstable (not if I can get to redo struts on docked parts, then it's ok)
[editline]11th August 2012[/editline]
just realised the shield is gonna be incredibly huge, and most likely must be made in several seperate parts
There are only two things that I really want this game to add at the moment. A full solar system, which is coming next patch, and the ability to build huge ships in orbit via multiple launches which I [I]hope[/I] will arrive with docking.
IVAs are a nice bonus.
I'd like to be able to place struts while I'm out on EVA, as well as grabbing stuff and welding them back together.
The sad part is, as said before, docking takes a ton of prep work and some drastic changes in code, so we might have to wait awhile for it to be incorporated, and even longer for all the bugs to be squashed.
[editline]11th August 2012[/editline]
Also, what's the appeal of comsat mods? Why would you want to delay your commands, making things requiring precise controls like landings harder?

the work involved in putting your sats up, and knowing the light distance? I use local control for landings and such anyway, if it was a probe it should have a program to land without ground control.
plus, the new addon allows you to control probes from orbiting command modules or from a lunar base, so the delay is meaningless.

I didn't even think of that!
An asteroid belt would be great to fly through.
It could even have a tiny Minmus sized asteroid even.

I actually coated a command pod in the new landing legs and dropped it from a height of about 100 meters on the lauch pad.
The command module actually bounced off the pad and landed safely.
Haven't tested it from orbit or anything though.
I saw that a guy that made some sweet KSP inspired music, so I decided to try my hand

I'm not sure If i like it or not :v:
The game is being retarded.
When i want to move a part, ANY PART, from my spaceship, grabbing it will move the ENTIRE construction.
How do I fix it?
This used to happen now and then earlier, but then i could just exit and re-enter the construction area and it would be fixed. Now I can only work for like 10 seconds and it'll happen again...
[editline]o[/editline]
Figured it out!
It's a glitch with the steam overlay, shift-tabbing into it will cause the game to believe the shift button is being held after you go back into the game. The shift button makes you able to drag the entire ship.

Why have they blacked bits out? I can see bits of the rover poking out, is it because the layout is classified or something?
Can someone send me a copy of their .16 part tools? Mine doesn't work. :c
