On the topic of not overdoing your Mun rockets, here's my newest creation:

Only addon is Mechjeb, which is just because I'm a lazy fuck :v:
Woo! Just orbited the Mun after four days of orbiting Kerbin. I decided not to land there though, I didn't have enough fuel. Landed safely on Kerbin at the end of the seven day misssion.
so you guys like the noses eh?
If the little extrusions are symmetrical, I like them.
Does MechJeb not work with a crew operated rocket? I have a one man cabin but my MechJeb doesn't come up when I try to launch.
Note: It normally works fine with the unmanned modules.
Anyone?
Thought I'd try to send some brave Kerbals into deep space, got into solar orbit instead. Maybe I'll try lowering the periapsis closer to the sun and launch from there. It should take about a Kerbin year. :v:

Try launching from Kerbin orbit, but do it on the dark side of Kerbin, preferably a tiny tad before you get on the exact opposite side from the sun.
Then you'll have the orbital velocity of Kerbin to help you out.
Anyone?
Most of my crew operated rockets use MechJeb to get into orbit, since it's quite repedetive once you've done it so many times.
It should work for you.
Anyone?
Going to assume here you're going from one of the mechjeb pods to a manned craft. You have to mount a mechjeb control part to your ship.
How do you get mechjeb to get you into orbit?
When I enable it, it does try to take me into orbit - through the ground. :v:

what is your orbit height?

Ascent autopilot, then orbital operations to actually orbit.
Ascent autopilot, then orbital operations to actually orbit.
Yeah, the ascent autopilot pilots me into the ground.
It can't keep my rocket straight.

Then it's probably something wrong with your rocket like not enough thrust vectoring or overall steering.
what is your orbit height set at
and the gravity turn shouldn't even be starting at launch on default settings
Well shit. First mun landing failed because as it turns out my rocket doesn't have enough fuel to slow my descent once I'm there.
Or rather, it probably did but since I didn't use mechjeb most of the delta-v was wasted in horrible manoeuvres prior to reaching muns sphere of influence.
Well we ladders and Airlocks working for the VA Capsule thanks to DamnYouJapan.
Anyone know how to get one of those licences I need? I am going to get the VA resized and working today and Try and Release it so you can flay something that is more compact to the Mun. The current Pod is too big and ASAS don't fit :D

What Mechjeb part are you using on your manned rockets?
There are more then just the two unmanned capsules. You have to attach a Mechjeb part from the menu with the spoke wheel (Can't remember what it's called and I'm at work atm) there are like 5 different kinds of mechjeb attachments.
Is it still necessary? I'm looking through the forum rules and there's no mention of requiring a license anymore.

The new addendum on discussing moderator actions is still there, but nothing concerning mods.
<DamionRayne> Oh, ah yeah that's an oversight on my part
<CardBoardBoxProcessor> so we don't need GPL for a mod?
<DamionRayne> GPL?
<CardBoardBoxProcessor> Lisecne in general. *
* DamionRayne is confused and not sure he read the right post
<DamionRayne> You do need a license posted, in order to host the mod on our fourms now. This is a squad stance and forum staff stance, designed to help us investigate copy/theft claims easier and lower workload and lessen the actual number of "he copied my crap" reports.
<CardBoardBoxProcessor> just updating some olde Mod parts to fit 0.16 and someone said i need a liscense and another said i didn't so..
<DamionRayne> You do. :)
<DamionRayne> But...
<DamionRayne> It can literally just be, "This work is my original work, you have permission to distrubute and use it for derived work." te
<DamionRayne> *etc
<DamionRayne> Just needs to be in a readme, or on the forum post itself
<CardBoardBoxProcessor> oh so jsut type that in my read me basically :D gotcha
<DamionRayne> yup
<DamionRayne> see? not that hard is it? :)
<CardBoardBoxProcessor> okay thnakyou.
<DamionRayne> welcome
<CardBoardBoxProcessor> gosh whatw as all the fuss about.
<CardBoardBoxProcessor> lol
<DamionRayne> dunno
<DamionRayne> maybe you should post this on facepunch?
<DamionRayne> lol
<CardBoardBoxProcessor> kk thanks take care :D
<DamionRayne> you to
<CardBoardBoxProcessor> if you want I will.
<DamionRayne> But...

"This work is my original work, you have permission to distrubute and use it for derived work." is a valid licence, but the WTFPL is "garbage"?
EDIT: I don't mean to stir things up again, but that makes no sense. One of the other mods at least said it would be a profanity thing. That's a somewhat valid reason to not allow it, but saying, "I do not consider WTFPL a "License" I consider it garbage" doesn't help anyone.
I never understood why everyone got so worked up about the license stuff to begin with, though they could probably have explained it better to begin with.

He could've just said "We don't want profanities here, so please use a more politely named licence" instead of "it's garbage" and removing links to it. The whole issue would've been avoided if he had responded politely like that. "Why are you guys making this so blasted difficult?" indeed.

I agree with you on this.
And the part you edited into that post.
Alright but seriously don't make more drama around it :v:
yeah there was enough useless trouble over this as is. This makes it perfectly acceptable and that convo just showed me how dumb all the drama over it was.

It's the same now as it was when the rule was made, just we had only heard about it from a mod who was acting sort of immature about it. Either way, we're done complaining now, mods (for the game) will still come out, most of us will continue to avoid the KSP forums.
Deleted my whole KSP folder.
Unpacked a fresh 0.16.
Installed Mechjeb, a rover mod, and Pelf's mod that gives you CM's as passenger space.
rebuilt my ships from scrach.
No more explodey for no apparent reason. Currently have 14 landers on the moon looking for a munalith.
