I fricken love KSP. So, attempted to orbit the Mun. Missed it because my "Mun Orbiter I" was too low underneath the Mun!!! You'll see below: The actual ship I used, "Mun Orbiter I" Orbital map view of me missing the Mun xD Another Orbital map view My poor Kerbinian gliding underneath the Mun ;( I actually got into Kerbin's Orbit and did a few Orbits, then waited for Mr. Mun to get into place. I was just a tadd too low. I was spot on horizontally though :). Next time I swear I'll get into Orbit. I'll update you all later :). Happy flying.
Scaled space objects are no longer just spheres. The transition is now basically seamless between scaled space and actual terrain [t]http://i.imgur.com/X9A5h.jpg[/t]
An ion engine would be useless in game. You cant accelerate time when you are accelerating from an engine burn. (most of the time you cant even with SAS on). An ion engine would give you so little thrust you would have to leave it on for days on end to see any acceleration. So it would be useless in game.
If all goes well, we'll have possibly up to 10x physics-enabled timewarp in this update, which would make ion engines a lot more feasible.
[editline]edit[/editline]

Is that Eve's Munlet
No. That is Bop*, the smallest moon orbiting the gas planet. *Thank you Winston for providing the best name for any small moon ever
[editline]edit[/editline]
Actually, it's slightly bigger than Minmus. It's much easier on Eve's moon.
I'm not sure if Nova is doing all these small updates to make things look and work better alone, but I sure do appreciate it either way! I think they made a good choice when they included Nova on the dev team.
omg 10x timewarp with physics
Oh you Winstonn, "Bop". :v:
[editline]edit[/editline] [editline]edit[/editline]
Where are these being posted? There's nothing in the dev thread forum or the KSP blog.
Where are these being posted? There's nothing in the dev thread forum or the KSP blog.
The unofficial dev thread in General Discussion. It's basically the official dev thread until they get blogs working.
Where is planet Jeb?
Where is planet Jeb?
In orbit around Minimus. At least in my game he is. Fucked up during an EVA and welp... he's still there.
Where is planet Jeb?
Now that you mention it, it would be kinda cool if they put in a planet that's not on the map, but visible from really far as a bright dot in space. As a challenge.
If all goes well, we'll have possibly up to 10x physics-enabled timewarp in this update, which would make ion engines a lot more feasible.
FUCK YEAH
I wonder if the gas giants will be like the real life ones: tiny core and a gigantic atmosphere. I also wonder what it'll look like down on the surface. Can't wait to check it out.
VA Flys Again.
The end would have been a perfect opportunity to demo the escape tower.
i wish sega was here. also, glad they have nova doing the planets.
I wonder what will actually happen if we fly into gas giants. Like, will the ship spontaneously explode or will we actually be able fall within the atmosphere at least a little bit?
I wonder what will actually happen if we fly into gas giants.
What lander, Doc?
I wonder what will actually happen if we fly into gas giants.
I'd imagine you'd eventually land in a methane ocean or something. .. At like mach 6, unless you have terribly powerful boosters.
I'd imagine you'd eventually land in a methane ocean or something. .. At like mach 6, unless you have terribly powerful boosters.
It'd be a neat challenge, build a ship that can make a planetary rendezvous and still have the fuel to land with a powerful engine.
Maybe you would be able to land, but I seriously doubt you'd manage to stay afloat, or let alone get away from it.
Maybe you would be able to land, but I seriously doubt you'd manage to stay afloat, or let alone get away from it.
It's not like I intend to send anything back to Kerbin anyway. All of my missions are suicide missions.
Holy shit I just realized that parachutes may be super effective on a gas giant, should be obvious why.
Time to buy frapps. Kerbal movies, with voices, is going to be my new passtime. Just need to figure out how to get their mouths to move while they talk...
I wonder what will actually happen if we fly into gas giants. Like, will the ship spontaneously explode or will we actually be able fall within the atmosphere at least a little bit?
I'm pretty sure they said at some point that the ship will simply explode because of the pressure.
Just need to figure out how to get their mouths to move while they talk...
You could probably do some fancy editing with After Effects (or another inferior program) to achieve this. [editline]16th August 2012[/editline]
I'm pretty sure they said at some point that the ship will simply explode because of the pressure.
Fuck I hope it's based on actual pressure physics so I can mod in some high-pressure parts with high weight to balance them.
Is there some sort of general space thread?
if i were making a general space thread i wouldn't dare put it anywhere else than general discussion cough cough
if i were making a general space thread i wouldn't dare put it anywhere else than general discussion cough cough
Same here, general discussion is right where I'd put it. And I'd have Zombii for the author of the thread.
