just orbit and send up a rescue pod :D
Except the passenger capsule is glitched, so the kermen can't actually exit the pod, and I can't pull of an orbital rendezvous worth shit.
What's the diameter of that capsule?
700m. The Kerbal is a statue to Jeb make out of solid iron.
What is the best way to align orbits? My inclination is always a bit off and whenever I try to fix the inclination it alters the wrong axis
Ok, that's 7 kerbals that fucking hill has taken. I should probably cut my losses. Maybe build a rocket with the Mk1 pod. Maybe I should just try to land on the relatively flat area a few km away. Better safe than stranded on a ball of ice 47,000 km from home.
seems about right.

If you can orbit the Mun first then shave the orbit down it's much easier, I've found. Because then instead of coming in at a straight-down vertical angle and trying to judge how much you should be retroing and when, you can just bring it down so you're going horizontally a few hundred meters above the surface, then retro so you're moving very little, then gently set her down.
What's the diameter of that capsule?
I don't know. Go ask the guy in the thread. It's probably 1m.

It's just that the hill is so steep that I think I would have to spread my lander way out to even hope to land there without rolling.
Is the solar system release out yet? I keep seeing posts on the forums about people who've written about getting into the orbits of other planets but I can't find anything about it
seems about right.
gosh really? :/
Is the solar system release out yet? Not being able to warp with planes or while landing is annoying.
Just bought this game. It is lovely.
Nova just posted this:
I'll help you guys out a little bit, here are the latest stats on Eve: (may change, they've been changed up quite a bit so far) Radius: 700km Surface gravity: 1.7g Atmosphere density: 5x kerbin Rotation period: 22.5 hours Semimajor axis: 7440000km Eccentricity: 0.03 Inclination: 0.025
I just made my kerbals endure 26.2G. I re-entered the atmosphere coming from the mun going insanely fast and then deployed my parachute late while doing a full retroburn. I landed propulsively after that.
seems about right.
Video?
What is the best way to align orbits? My inclination is always a bit off and whenever I try to fix the inclination it alters the wrong axis
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orbital_inclination_change Basically you wait for the point where your orbit would intersect with the desired orbit inclination (use the map view - line up Kerbin's orbit (or the Mun's orbit) as perfectly horizontal as it is at 0 inclination) and thrust perpendicular to your orbit (straight up/down relative to forward). Which way should be clear - if prograde is descending relative to your target inclination, thrust up and vice-versa. Mechjeb makes orienting your craft for this considerably easier, but isn't necessary.
Video?
can you not assemble it yourself? It's like 5 parts
I have successfully achieved my first orbit. http://imgur.com/AbEr8 (If someone can tell me how to add imgur photos, I'd love that.)

I feel so far behind, I only just got a decent orbit around Kerbin (300,000/240,000) and I see all you guys going to the moon and back. :smith:

Is there any chance that someone could buy KSP for me in exchange for a 15 eur steam game? I got a prepaid card and paypal requires that stupid activation thing and it doesn't work with prepaid cards.
Guys how is this part called in Parts? I can't seem to find it
I'm going to attempt to put together a small set of videos, primarily for new players. I fancied doing some kind of KSP video but I didn't really know what to do, so I just decided to try to cover everything. The current plan is: #1: Using the interfaces, building and flying basic rockets. #2: Larger rockets and some orbital stuff, maybe EVAs #3: Visiting Mun and Minmus #4: How to build a space plane that flips uncontrollably and crashes. #5: Mod spotlight video (maybe) I doubt I'll cover orbital rendezvousing, because I've never managed it once in the entire time I've had this game. I might give it a go anyway. I expect I'll finish them just in time for version 0.17 to come along and change EVERYTHING
Is there any chance that someone could buy KSP for me in exchange for a 15 eur steam game?
seems about right.
I tried this and couldn't get into orbit with it. What'd you do?
Messing around with the Conics options are awesome.

I'm not entirely sure how to gift it though, so maybe you could PM me your info and we'll figure it out!
I tried this and couldn't get into orbit with it. What'd you do?
I got pretty much the same result. Full power on the first stage, and start rolling at about 2k meters, never tilted lower that 45degrees though. As soon as the atmospheric engine losses all efficiency, stage it and hit the SRB.
