What's coming in 0.17?
Planets and moons, lots of.
I made a new class of UAV's with two variants and and from the front
So it looks like 0.17 is still quite a way off then
I don't mean to shit on the devs' hard work or anything. I'm a big fan of these guys, and of their approach, the way they involve the community and everything. But. About 9 months ago, they announced a 4-week-update cycle. If I remember right, we've had 3 updates since then. That's an average of 3 months per update. I understand that the things they included each time took longer than expected to finish. But I thought the idea for the 4 week cycle was to take whatever was ready at the end of week 3, finish it up and post an update. And I don't think it's ever been officially declared that the 4 week update schedule has been dropped, or am I wrong? All I want to say is, I'm getting the feeling that they had this new idea, realized it was not feasible and just silently dropped it instead of clearing things up. Now that won't get my hopes for KSP down at all, but some people might get the impression that the devs are not entirely reliable, and transfer that onto their whole outlook on the development of the game. What are your thoughts on this? edit: how am i funny?
What are your thoughts on this?
Doesn't matter to me. The game is worth the 7 dollars I gave in it's current state.
Doesn't matter to me. The game is worth the 7 dollars I gave in it's current state.
Same here. No matter what they do, even if they completely ruin the game, I got my money's worth long ago.
I don't really follow development much, so I just thought I'd missed the announcement. It feels like they've been so busy that they forgot what they said.
Started mapping the mun for gas deposits. suitable location marked. Estimated 28K liters of useable deposits Stage 2 ground exploration to be commenced shortly. More screens of operation "greenride" expected.

Paying 7 dollars for the countless hours of fun that KSP has to offer really doesn't entitle you to an...uh...a sense of entitlement as far as the update cycle is concerned.

Seven Dollars?! I've been robbed! My fifteen dollars surely must allow for a small amount of entitlement! But I jest. In the past, I've paid a lot more money for a product that was usually "late" on updates, if I got them at all. The humble cost of KSP has been well worth my initial investment and my extra donations. An update every three months? Excellent, I'll take it. I don't see the point in complaining about the frequency of updates. I rather have one awesome, well done update a year, instead of 12 shitty, buggy, useless updates in the same time period.
You have to remember as well that the 4 week dev cycle was announced before the game got too popular. As it stands now, people are more resistant to frequent changes - look at previous posts, people not wanting to embark on big projects for fear that their persistence file will be wiped, etc. The devs also want updates to have an impact - if they update after 4 weeks with only 1 minor feature and a bunch of backend stuff no-one ever sees, people get antsy over what they're up to. Then there's mods, parts and their balancing with any changes the game makes, etc - these people - and also the players trying to keep their installed mods up to date - can become burned out when faced with frequent updates. In all, a longer dev cycle actually makes more sense with the popularity the game has developed.
I want someone to make some particle-satellite-laser-canon mod, just because it would make no damn sense, but be so fucking awesome
I really wish the Minecraft community realized this last year...

Just pointing out that they said one thing, then started doing something else without really saying that they were dropping the first thing. They usually tell us everything that's going on, but it feels like they've forgotten that they said they'd be doing 4-week updates. But to answer his question, no it doesn't make me doubt their reliability at all. Like I said, they tell us everything else that's going on.
The satellite found an astonishing 90K liter deposit, so I send the rover to it Time to get the actual machines out here. [editline]10th September 2012[/editline] once I got said machines develloped

Was there an "insightful" rating in these forums at one point?
This will try to get my new lander to the deposit I found with the scout crafts. I think "the compensator" fits it The lander itself is a secret for now :v: [editline]10th September 2012[/editline] to give an idea: the rocket is somewhat struggling right now [editline]10th September 2012[/editline] We're extracting kethane! [editline]10th September 2012[/editline] Rover is being moved to that location
What's coming in 0.17?
Apparently Zakhodit
Sega I sent you that Pm... fixed that RD-0146 engine nozzle extension problem :D anyway. I decided I will just do the nose cone for the Dragon and then Release it. it will be good for planetary landings.. you can send a return vehicle for them later :P because it is a mech jeb pod I might make one that has no crew inside just for this. The Trunk something that I think even SpaceX is not sure they are keeping and there is currently not plugins or ode to support what it needs to do as a single part. Which would be having solar panels. be a decoupler to jetison internal Cargo, as well as decouple from the Capsule. That being said I will start with the TKS again. but after that I will start working on KOSMOS again. That being Said. Kosmos typical metal Hull with patches of random stuff sort of texturing. Or New sort of look with more thermal ptotection look and less exposed metal. AKA more realistic ish.
Apparently Zakhodit
ZING!
Oh wow, Nova posted this
Let me just say, the Kethane mod is incredible. Also, it actually works with the new planets without any modifications.
Kethane mod works in 0.17 already
Speaking of Kethane... Made my first Kethane detecting satellite up around the Mun. If you have more than one detecting satellite, does only an active one continue to work, or do they all keep adding to the map?
they all add to the map, just like the ISA mapsat plugin does.
they all add to the map, just like the ISA mapsat plugin does.
Then I'm going to go launch a few more into polar orbits to get this done faster.
I am gonna set up a big kethane system once 0.17 is out and I got done with vanilla. It'll take long but probably allow great stuff.
they all add to the map, just like the ISA mapsat plugin does.
Okay, I just tried it with a second polar orbiter, and only one is drawing to the map at a time. Is there a setting for multiple satellites to work at once?
Okay, I just tried it with a second polar orbiter, and only one is drawing to the map at a time.
I don't think so, it seems to be mission specific.
Well, in that case I have some waiting to do to get a full map. The Mun is about 1/3 mapped, so I could probably launch some mining missions now if I want to.
Is the kethane mod easy to get into?
