You can do it on minmus iirc, because it's tidally locked
Does anyone know how Nutt007 adds modules to his space station's file in the persistence file?
Also, 9000 posts yay

So is the Mun
I mean you can match minmus' orbit, just before or ahead of it and outside its SoI

Don't mind me I don't know orbital mechanics

Technically that's not a synchronous orbit, since it's not around Minmus, but it works the same as one, so that's pretty clever.
If you could get launch struts to hold down an axle on which you spun a strut really fast you could probably get it into orbit I think, if you could find a mod which has some sort of axle or something
I don't remember it off the top of my head, but it's greater than the Mun's SoI. There was some sort of way to get into it using Kerbin orbit but I'm not sure how again
[editline]13th September 2012[/editline]
I think that means you need more struts.
I've made a video - the rocket I'm using here has no struts, but the first one I experienced this with did. So I'm not quite convinced.

Dacheet was right - struts fixed the problem entirely.
Does anyone else get lowish fps when looking at kerth? When I look up or down on kerth I get 60 fps, when I look straight or at kerth from space it's about 15 fps.

Try lowering Terrain Scatter settings. But yeah, that happens because it has to render all the shit rather than just the skybox

Yes.
Also, the flame jet thing coming out of rocket engines looks so cool at night:

Do you have a MechJeb capsule/module on your rocket? Also, check under the last (IIRC) parts category for sat parts.

Ok, MechJeb works fine now, but the satellite parts are still missing.
Teaching Fausty KSP makes me realize how seriously I take this game.
Rendezvous is awesome.

This is honestly more fun than Mun landings.
EDIT: Dacheet, this is how I make my stations:

Use bracket keys to switch between nearby ships. []

I knew that, but how exactly do you make the two crafts one in the persistence file? Do you just copy the entry for Module 2 into Module 1?

What I had done in my video was to make the entire station at the beginning, then launch up the modules separately. Once in orbital rendezvous, I'd go back to the VAB or SPH, wherever the station was assembled (I tend to use both buildings simultaneously) and I'd pull off every part that wasn't already in space. Then I'd launch that, and copy it's data to the vessel in space. Delete module 2 that was meeting the actual station.
Watching MechJeb set a course for Minmus made me realise that I've got NO chance of doing it manually. That shit was complicated.
Watching MechJeb set a course for Minmus made me realise that I've got NO chance of doing it manually. That shit was complicated.
I've done it manually a few times. There was a lot of luck and careful watching of the map screen involved.
Well, apparently MechJeb can get me to Minmus, but doesn't know how to get me back home... Any suggestions?
Well, apparently MechJeb can get me to Minmus, but doesn't know how to get me back home... Any suggestions?
If you take off and orbit minmus, you should be able to expand your orbit into Kerbin's sphere of influence, and then burn retrograde after being captured by it.

Think small.
Note it is considerably easier if you're orbiting Minmus retrograde (i.e. the opposite way it is orbiting Kerbin - west instead of east.)
It stops the moon catching up to you and recapturing you when you're trying to return.
