What kind of orbit should I use for a mapping satellite? I've seen a few posts with mapping tracks that look like sine waves but I have no idea how to do that.
It will look like waves if your orbit goes north or south, instead of just around the equator.
Orbit with an inclination of 90 degrees, so you go over the poles. Kerbin rotates underneath you, making sure you map the entire planet eventually.

It will look like waves if your orbit goes north or south, instead of just around the equator.
Thanks guys.
For some reason I can't get MMI Solar Panels working, they're always unselectable. Also: when I'm flying it says "invalid part configuration.".
So this is a thing that works until that other guy's docking mod comes out
I have the other guys docking mod. He is releasing a beta soon he says. It is pretty nice. Not actually docked yet since my kerbal doesn't seem to wanna work right but....
I have the other guys docking mod. He is releasing a beta soon he says. It is pretty nice. HogDrivers Also does fuel transfer and has a very nice rendevouz button.
Meanwhile... Damned Robotics has offered a "clamp" that works with every ship, in every configuration, without any modifications to the superstructure of either vehicle. It's a big mechanical claw.
For me, Damned Robotics "spazzes" whenever I go anywhere near any servo control while in any kind of motion - in space, this means throwing off my orbit at best, violently tearing apart everything I hold dear at worst. No thanks.
Meanwhile... Damned Robotics has offered a "clamp" that works with every ship, in every configuration, without any modifications to the superstructure of either vehicle. It's a big mechanical claw.
yeah but if you can get fuel transfer then that means you can throw a bunch of fuel up in orbit, dock with it, and go to far off places cardboardbox why do you have it but he won't release it (yet)?
I tried making a vtol with damned robotics with hindges moving the jet engines but I can't seem to properly balance the craft at all
I tried making a vtol with damned robotics with hindges moving the jet engines but I can't seem to properly balance the craft at all
yeah i'm not touching planes still 1.7, making rockets balanced is hard enough
Doesn't the Engineer plugin have a cog reading?
This would be useful, but the main problem is actually being able to individually control the each of the jets Also I had an idea about using multiple exaust jets one after the other at an angle in sort of a barrel as a space cannon but the fuel keeps running out by the time the kerbal gets near the top, is there some sort of script or plugin or w/e in which I can set the timings needed to activate stages (eg 3 sec after 1st stage activate stage 2 etc)
Kyle and I are completely re-working the KW pack from scratch. It will be balanced more like Silisko Edition, as we think this will make the pack easier to work with and conform better to a universal balance standard (we'll have a download for the same pack balanced like old KW for those who prefer). Here's a sneak peek at a couple of things we've done so far. On the left is the as yet untextured basic 1m workhorse motor, and on the right a couple of fuel tanks. My fucking 3DS Max refuses to render textures properly at the moment, so the tanks are just snaps from my viewport. We are still in very early stages, and this will take a while.
Kyle or Winstonn, will you ever release these?
I'm always open to beta test, Winstonn and/or Kyle. /desperate attempt to be useful
/desperate attempt to get a early access
FTFY
FTFY
Aren't they one in the same? :v:
Kyle or Winstonn, will you ever release these?
I have seen this engine. It is beautifully textured.
I'd like to get the first version out before 0.17, but no promises.
So this is a thing that works until that other guy's docking mod comes out
Wait that's made by a guy named Erkle? I wonder if its the same Erkle from wiremod, looks like it though, since this guy seems to have some modding skills.
How do I read the MMI map? There's no indication as to whether it's centered on the space center, or what.
Can someone Help me? Sega Saturn has been balancing the engines and such. But I got them form him finally and I am impressed. I feel he did the balancing in the wrong way. He made the RD-191 really weak an the thrust vectored versions are 20% less thrust even though KSP already accounts for angled thrust. Instead of balancing with less thrust than stock i feel he should have balanced with Fuel consumption. Made them more powerful than stock but burn alot more fuel to do it. i want to try it out but I have no idea how this Isp stuff works (since that is how fuel works) Can someone help me figure this out? The real RD-191 Engine uses these stats. Isp (vac.) 337 s Isp (SL) 310.7 s Burn time 150 s [1] is it just the fuel used at various heights? It's always nice to see an old rocket that you left in orbit by chance. Was just launching a rocket and it came within 10KM of an old space station I left up there without even trying to get to it. I also think this launch could have gone a little better... [IMG_THUMB]http://i.imgur.com/Avgb5.jpg[/IMG_THUMB]
Would you look at that? Hogdriver's addon is out! http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/showthread.php/20604-Plugin-Parts-0-16-Orbital-Rendezvous-and-Docking-Assistant

Rescue mission time!
how do i switch between 2 ships in orbit? Like if they are next to eachother
how do i switch between 2 ships in orbit? Like if they are next to eachother
[ or ] [editline]16th September 2012[/editline] I wouldn't suggest using Hogdrivers addon to teleport whilst your still on the launch pad... [IMG_THUMB]http://i.imgur.com/5mk9Q.jpg[/IMG_THUMB]
lower ISP - less efficient, more consumption higher ISP - more efficient, less consumption but I don't see why it matters, just set it to 2KN thrust, and the realistic ISP. 2KN is plenty of thrust is it not? 2kn is what those 3m 4 nozzle KW thrusters do. It also consumes a fuckton of fuel I imagine.. so just half the thrust and keep the ISP the same. If you want to find out how much thrust is used in an ISP range, just half the thrust and read the consumption on the engines (right click)
