I will never get good at this. I cant design ships that orbit properly. Most break apart or explode, loose control or something. Or else i time it wrong. I have crashed into the mun twice and borked up another landing, leaving the control pod tipped over with a trail of debris parts. Further away my return stage, almost intact.
Minmus is the limit for me. Those other planets? Fuck those.

Apparently if you get a kerbal in orbit one way then a rocket in orbit the other, then smash them into each other.
Rocket looses for some reason.

Was surprisingly easy, just used Mechjeb for orbits and making the ship stable when burning.
I first imagined you had to use the exact phase and escape angle, but a good approximation with your eyes work just fine.

I haven't had the spontaneous disassembly problem yet. I have had my landers spin out of control in high warps, though.

Before the patch I could easily fly into the sun with a 2 stage rocket, now I can't even escape the atmosphere.
