If your aunt did buy it you, you should be able to login to the store to download the latest version full if the patcher doesnt work.

I hate to say it, but I'm having trouble coming to terms with all of these indie-games that you can buy before they're finished. I like the looks of the game, and it looks like fun, but I had a bad experience with the Minecraft situation and I'm just worried that something will happen and development will come to a screaming halt before things get finished.
Is that a rational concern? It's the same reason I haven't purchased Project Zomboid yet.

I have to say, I doubt it with KSP, Squad frequently communicate with their fans (whether they bought the game or are just playing the demo) try to stick to a regular, 4 week (i think) update cycle, sometimes bugfixes, sometimes new features, not only that but they're willing to implement community suggestions.
I'll admit, I became as jaded because of minecraft, but Squad convinced me to invest in them,

I would never pay for a flimsy indie dev promise but KSP is already extremely playable so I personally wouldn't have too much regrets if they stopped updating suddenly.
Aside from that, squad seem much more passionate and organised than mojang since they actually seem to have a long-term plan.
