Dear Moach, I along with many of the people in the KSP community, have discovered a major problem. Many moderators are abusing their power, and great members of our community have been permanently banned, and are unable to be unbanned as the policy currently in place prevents them from being unbanned as the mod(s) in question hold grudges and refuse to unban them. I, along with many of the community, believe that the moderators should be reformed. Where members of the community decide who moderates their community, and Harvester then would pick people he believes that would be good for the job from that list. Sure, moderators should be strict but some people are out of order. I am of African American origin, and certain members of the moderation team have repeatedly insulted me because of this fact. The main person in question here is Damion Rayne. He has repeatedly done so and I will supply the logs for this if you wish and when I tried to bring this up I was told to ignore him. However he has also insulted causeless on multiple occasions, he was also told to ignore him, however, when Damion sent Private Messages to him, he was told to reply, then when he brought this up again told to ignore him. The issue in question here is the ban of Causeless by drakomis. After he gave him a warning, Causeless stopped and said nothing more. Then he was banned for no apparent reason. Despite witeken repeatedly breaking the rules, he went completely unpunished.
V2.
>Facepunch telling us how to do our job That is comedy gold. No really, i've had a long time friend link me to this place several times and i don't know why this place isn't called selfesteemchan.
Shall we assume this is the great Daimon Rayne coming to tell us how swebonny and postal and rutsy are doing their jobs incorrectly?
>Facepunch telling us how to do our job That is comedy gold. Facepunch doesn't/isn't. Do you even know what a forum is? Do you even know what an imageboard is?
Dear Moach, A number of members of the community including myself are concerned about what has become a major problem. Moderators are abusing their power, and great members of our community have been permanently and irreversibly banned due to unfair moderation policies. I, along with many of the community, believe that the site moderation should be reformed. Moderators must not be immune to criticism and public scrutiny, a policy which they have actively pursued in recent months. Damion Rayne has been accused of making racially-charged antagonistic remarks toward a black member of the forum. Although the member has attempted to bring these attacks up in the past, his complaints have been continuously ignored, and no action has been taken. We have the logs of these communications. Damion Rayne has also been been accused of antagonizing the member Causeless, who has been permanently banned from the forum for inadequately-explained reasons. The moderators have chosen to sweep any questions or complaints under the rug and threaten those who call for change. Capt'n Skunky has used harsh language to belittle members of the community (on one occasion demanding to know if a member in IRC was "fucking retarded,") and yet feels justified in doing so because he considers all conflict between members and staff to be "not for public consumption." It is obvious to all of us that Skunky is interested in shutting down individual complaints using threats and quiet bannings. This is not the community we want to be a part of, and we hope that you would see that this growing problem must be dealt with before it gets any worse.
My version.
Ascensiam, who are you, seriously, I'd like to know. Hardly telling the KSP mods how to do their jobs, but rather, discussing amongst themselves how to improve the moderation on KSP for the better and doing it in such a way that the mod team doesn't look like complete and total unprofessional douchebags. Like I said, I'm a former mod on here, and thusly, I understand both sides of the coin and know that what mods do often goes unappreciated, but I also understand the concept of public image and behaving respectfully and professionally, no matter what the person you're moderating acts like.
Yeah so Skunky locked the thread, deciding that things were getting a little too real. He says that he'd like us to send our complaints to him in private, where, I assume, he intends to dismiss/ban us individually.

But I do get a sense of covering each others backs.

Also next time we critize C7 we've to give him constructive critizism. Seems fair.
I don't ever see people getting banned from here for stupid reasons. I only see people getting banned from KSP for stupid reasons.
Also Facepunch has the benefit of the Refugee Camp, which is something I doubt would happen on the KSP forums, or have any point. The lesson here is, if you like how Facepunch does things, more than how the KSP forums do things, then you should spend more time here and less there.
>Facepunch telling us how to do our job That is comedy gold. No really, i've had a long time friend link me to this place several times and i don't know why this place isn't called selfesteemchan.
ironic how you're the only one here using greentext
Hmm, I see that Skunky has in fact locked the thread - ironically enough, he's doing exactly the same thing we are accusing him of.
Let's get right to the point. The recent issue is over a user that was REPEATEDLY warned and given all the opportunity to be a member of this community. Every time he came back, he started up with the SAME crap that got him banned in the first place. Since it became obvious this user has no intention of playing by the rules he was banned. Sure, you can take a snippet of a chat log and even make Mother Teresa look bad, but you're only looking at a small segment of the over problem. You folks do not see what takes place behind the scenes when we deal with issues as we do not discuss this here in the open. It's not for public consumption. The person currently posting on Facepunch is acting like a spoiled little child that just had his favorite toy taken away. Can't say I didn't expect it. Oh, and for the record, we've even banned a moderator that had broken the rules, so we are not immune in any way. This topic will be locked as this is one topic that is not open to discussion here in open chat. If you have a problem with the moderation team, you come to me. If you have a problem with me, take it to HarvesteR, but you're not likely to get a very sympathetic ear. Cheers! Capt'n Skunky KSP Community Manager
I don't see how I'm acting like a spoiled little child. I came here and showed logs. Also, he is correct about there being much more to it; in fact, you can see this around about 10 pages back. Repeatedly I've been accused of things and then pardoned (usually with a warning thrown in despite me having no control over the situation). The moderator who was banned never insulted anyone. In fact, he was actually gathering evidence because he felt that Damion Rayne's instant global mod position was unfair, and he was banned for showing things in the KSP mod forums to people outside of them - this mod getting banned wasn't in the interest of the community, but more in order to keep the mod team stable. I'm going to just grab as many logs as I can so you can all see the full situation. Oh also, here is a revised version of the complaint:
Dear Moach, I along with many of the people in the KSP community, have discovered a major problem. Many moderators are abusing their power, and great members of our community have been permanently banned, and are unable to be unbanned as the policy currently in place prevents them from being unbanned as the mod(s) in question hold grudges and refuse to unban them. Hi, I'm Capt'n Skunky, Community Manager over on the KSP forums. I'm sorry to see this person has decided to come over here and bother you with his problems. This person has repeatedly been issued warnings and we work on an escalating scale of warnings and bans. He reached the point where a ban was the next level of punishment we could issue. I was there when this particular event occurred and support the actions of the moderator present. Just like any other forum/chat on the Internet, we have rules. These rules are posted at http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/index.php?topic=8950.0, I suggest everyone give them a read. Let him tell you about each and every instance where he got in trouble and you will see the pattern of disruptive behavior. This is something we tolerated up to a point and today he finally crossed that final line. We aren't perfect and have made mistakes, but we've always rectified them and apologized. I'm sure the moderators here have plenty of experience dealing with unruly members and issued bans. We aren't immune from this either, one of our mods was banned for a serious breach of privacy and rules. I'm not here to apologize for our actions as they were warranted per the forum rules. I don't expect anyone to like me that already hates me, I don't care. What I am concerned about is that some child that has been banned for bad behavior is coming here and only telling his side of the story. Just be aware, there are two sides to this issue and you will not be hearing ours beyond what I have typed because that is none of the public's business. So, go ahead and call me names and throw your tantrums, it's not going to change the way the KSP forums operate. Cheers! Capt'n Skunky KSP Community Manager

Capt'n Skunky KSP Community Manager
He was a member here before he posted on KSP. And his record shows a continued line of moderators trying to bully him and other members into accepting a "no-questions-asked" policy. Your response as a representative of the KSP forum is irresponsible, at best- to dismiss any and all complaints about your behavior as the opinions of children. If you can't handle criticism, you're the child. And also- the fact that the public is demanding answers and your response is "that is none of the public's business" shows you have no idea what you're doing as a moderator. I'm not going to threaten you Skunky, although members of the community are becoming impatient with your attitude and your actions, instead I'm going to suggest you step down, as frankly, you look completely overwhelmed by your responsibilities on the KSP forum and it's really quite pathetic that you would need to come here to try to do damage-control. Forget it, it's done, you screwed up. I hope you'll soon have the dignity and self-awareness to man up and admit it.
Hey guys, just got another log where I explained why I'm so pissed off about a lot of this (this happened immediately after my logs with Drakomis where I got punished via warning for something I had almost no control over): http://pastebin.com/9zRr6sid EDIT:
What I am concerned about is that some child that has been banned for bad behavior is coming here and only telling his side of the story. Just be aware, there are two sides to this issue and you will not be hearing ours beyond what I have typed because that is none of the public's business.
So, you've managed to basically accuse me of lying ("only telling his side of the story"), at the same time as refusing to tell your and the mod team's side, while attempting to insult me by saying "child", as some weak excuse, in 2 sentences. That's real classy.

Capt'n Skunky KSP Community Manager
Hey there "Captain Skunky" I've seen some people come from other forums saying they're other people and yeah occasionally they are who they say, but I don't really believe that you are the Capt'n Skunky on the KSP forums. and if you are, take some advice: the mods there need some reforms, yes, but so do the users. I don't hate you, but I do think you guys are acting a bit silly over the fact Causeless / Tommy is a 'child'. That and Damion just comes off as a condescending asshole when he says "This conversation is over, period" etc. What is he, my mother when I was 12?
Actually, I think he is Capt'n Skunky - he's using the username "SkunkMonkey", which I believe he usually uses on other forums; I'd expect an imposter to write "CaptnSkunky" or something similar.
How about this compromise, rather than continuing down this path, how about this: I be the liason between Facepunch and the KSP Moderators, that way then, rather than all the nastiness and dislike, I can put forward valid complaints, couched in a way that is polite and professional and devoid of personal feelings. Since I've been both a user and a Mod, I know the two sides to a coomunity and moderators pretty well, even when they arent of the same community. Skunk, if it is you, and you are interested in this, PM me on the KSP forums. FPer,s what do you think of my proposal?

Alright guys, listen up, this is a request from me to the FPers, all the crap stops NOW, whatever has happened has happened, let it go, move on, start a blank sheet. All this is creating a lot of needless ill will between the two forums. So let it go and start blank. If something does happen to one of you, and you think it's not right or unfair, screencap it, preferably with timestamps, chat logs won't do, as they can easily be fabricated, then pass it to me, and I'll work my best to get it sorted out. Bottom line: PUT WHAT HAS HAPPENED ASIDE, MOVE ON, GIVE THINGS A FRESH CHANCE AND IF YOU HAVE ANY GRIEVANCES, SCREENCAP THEM AND SEND THEM TO ME AND ME ONLY, DON'T PUBLICALLY POST THEM OR POST THEM ON KSP, SEND THEM STRAIGHT TO ME. If you're going to follow my request, please rate Winner.
