I don't know how you managed it but you just made Space and the Space Shuttle VERY uncool, sir
Implying I made it? Posted it for mutual distaste.
Pel made some nice rocket stuff :D Pelf would you like to make that second stage engines nozzle extendable? plugin i got allows for that.

help I'm bored of KSP, recommend mods for my next wipe.

On a less related note, would it be possible to put a lander leg on the moving part of another lander leg? Or have an attachment point on the moving part and have the point move with it? And without any plugins?

What do you guys think I C7's parts? In my opinion, they should be more space-plane themed considering how KSP is a space game. [sp]Just trying to get some life into this thread.[/sp]
What do you guys think I C7's parts? In my opinion, they should be more space-plane themed considering how KSP is a space game. [sp]Just trying to get some life into this thread.[/sp]
There comes a point where planes fly high and fast enough to require small delta wings and sleek surfaces. There's also a point where spaceplanes fly low and slow enough to require the same things. If C7 can get his parts to fit that twilight zone, I'm sure any concerns like yours would be solved. I personally think his parts still aren't at this point yet either, however.
Where do you get the helicopter parts?
They were discontinued.
Found em.
Well, more progress news: I think I've been able to get that second encounter detection thing working now, even though I'm not entirely sure of why my solution worked... It seems to be working, so I thought it best to not question it. So I made a couple more tweaks to it, and now I get two predicted positions at encounter, one for each of them. This is looking good. Now comes the interesting part, which is to, once we know orbits have a chance of intersecting, find out just where and when (and if) the primary object (ship) would get into the secondary's SOI, and drawing a new conic patch there. That means it will be necessary to do quite a bit of recoding on the orbit code, so it becomes more modular. Currently, an orbit in KSP is a behaviour. That is, objects may have orbits, and those can update the object's position or just track its rigidbody... For the new system to work though, Orbits will have to become a data type. A much more basic piece of information, which isn't necessarily tied to any object. It just represents an orbit in general, and can then used to update orbiting objects, like before, but also draw hypothetical orbits and conic patches, which I think are best described as 'virtual orbits'. It should be pretty cool once it's done though, as doing orbital math should become a lot easier and flexible. Orbits would be handled in much the same way as we work with quaternion rotations or 3D vectors. They would be structs, with all the parameters and methods to do calculations, extract propagated values and render them in the map without having them tied to anything. I'm not entirely sure on the exact details of this implementation yet though... It's a good thing that today we're having a general meeting later, so that'll be a good time to discuss ideas for this. That's about it for now.
hey does anyone know what time the shuttle is supposed to land at Dulles tomorrow? hmm seems it is 1o to 11am and will be doing a fly by. But I don't really want to deal with the national beltway at 8am..... terrible road..
I went and saw discovery landing :D Traffic was terrible but worth it. photo album https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.3457665114697.2142778.1062953631&type=3&l=110d487eca
Looks plane porn to me! Not as bad as in air refueling though.
Wow. I just saw the email saying I was chosen to go the SpaceX launch NASA Social..... Swwwweeeeeet. [editline]18th April 2012[/editline] http://www.nasa.gov/social/ Incase you're wondering.
one of 50?! nice, take pictures and post about your experience
Take lots and lots of pictures, especially if you get to see the Falcon 9. I would love to go to something like that.
CardBoardBox: Are you planning on continuing your work on the Kerbolstar since they're adding a horizontal Spaceplane hangar and operational runway and landing gear?
CardBoardBox: Are you planning on continuing your work on the Kerbolstar since they're adding a horizontal Spaceplane hangar and operational runway and landing gear?
yes. But on a minimal scale most likely. I will not be doing normal maps and such for it while i am doing this stuff for someone else.
CardBoardBox:...horizontal Spaceplane hangar...

CardBoardBox:...horizontal hangar...

CardBoardBox:...horizontal...
Oh my fuck how did I not hear about this. [sub](I think this is the most excited I've ever been about a plane, no pun intended.)[/sub]
I haven't played since december what has changed before I jump in and get overwhelmed
I haven't played since december what has changed before I jump in and get overwhelmed
Depends on whether you've bought or not. If not, not much change. If yes... we can code entirely new parts in using C# (some people made an autopilot, another guy made a cart), there is persistence so all old ships launched stay up there (and it uses a cool system so it causes pretty much no more lag than you would from the demo)... There is landing legs as vanilla that actually extend and retract, there is a game auto-updater, there is also an entirely new terrain engine so that Kerbin and the Mun look AMAZING, with proper mountains and craters and no more terrain seams, and it's fully customizable so it lags a lot less than before... There is a new landing engine and little, half-size fuel tank, also. Missing anything, guys?

wow look at the differences between real and prototype lol. http://www.floridatoday.com/apps/pbcs.dll/gallery?Avis=A9&Dato=20120419&Kategori=SPACE&Lopenr=304190062&Ref=PH&odyssey=mod|defcon|img|Space
I made a comparison because I was bored: [editline]19th April 2012[/editline] Added moons:
Earth/Moon and Kerbin/Mun aren't to scale with each other, are they?
