winches, cylinders, rotating, claws and more, they're really cool.

basically you can make giant robots with those robotics parts, since it isn't like a 1 part landing gear.
They scripted it in C++? Well, that's another use of that language I guess; scripting space rockets.
what else are they going to use? C? all their staff look young. I doubt many places teach C these days let alone something like python or something.
what else are they going to use? C? all their staff look young. I doubt many places teach C these days let alone something like python or something.
C is still taught at many places. Like at my school, I'm starting my C/low level language class this autumn. It's more used when you are working close to the hardware, but it's not restricted to it at all. And Python quite widespread, but it's kinda irrelevant since it's not really comparable to C.
C is one of the most popular programming languages so it most likely has nothing to do with that the language is old or something.

I thought they were either using some kind of advanced rocket science language or that everything were logically wired using data chips.

Hehe, some code from the software used during the Apollo missions.

Those computers on the Apollo rockets probably couldn't run a coffee pot today.
And they were huge.

Kind of shows how technology has evolved, and ironically some everyday items we have today wouldn't be invented without rocket science.
The specs from Wikipedia:

damn who needs such a monster machine
damn who needs such a monster machine
Searching for a basic coffee machine is becoming similar to searching for a needle in a haystack, most coffee machines today asks if you what coffee you want, how much sugar you want in it and weather it should dry your ass while it is being served.
Speaking of Apollo Computers. Here is a lovely size comparison of one of them.
and I know of C. I learned it at college. they said not many places teach it. they must be talking about in the USA. lol. but there is no problem with C++ for rockets :P but apollo assembly looking stuff looks neat.

Why are you talking about coffee machines in the KSP-thread? :v:
[editline]6th May 2012[/editline]
Oh wait, this ended up on a new page, so now it looks somewhat silly. Oh well.
I feel kind of sad, with the persistence Kerbal now has, leaving a pair of lonely lander legs on the surface of the mun

What pack are those engines from?
I made a new Mun rover, with actual wheels:

I steal jokes from others and use them myself
Don't judge :(
What are the spaceplane parts you guys use?
Once we have a spaceplane runway, don't you think an orbital drydock for the really huge ships would be a good idea?
Reentry heat and mission control
I want to make my own meteors and mission controls.
and i really, REALLY want to see a resource system. something like spacebuild or spore, we have to get resources to develop our tech trees, would make colonizing new planets awesome
If we have this, we have to have a free look camera or something of the sort. So we can scroll across our colony.
I don't see an issue with building onto Kerbal's little solar system and leaving the gameplay as is, and then adding a second game type where it turns it into a sort of Explore and Exploit type of game, where you can send probes up that beam back data about procedurally/randomly generated locations on planets for resources, which once you find, can build some sort of craft to bring them back, and just keeping with the Comic but realistic approach to space
For instance, finding resources on the Mun, let's say Helium 3, building a sort of colony to exploit it, and use it as the fuel for more advanced rockets
Inacio you are a few days/weeks late
Just getting back to KSP, what mods would you guys recommend?
[editline]6th May 2012[/editline]
And are the forums still a clusterfuck?
that's what i mean
and harv already confirmed some time ago there will be an arcade mode and a campaign mode, so you will have the option to just build without worrying about anything else
[editline]6th May 2012[/editline]
god damn
That's incredible!
That's incredible!
:/ it's just another image being shown atop the model or showing where to effect it. But I guess innocence makes everything neat.
but the normal maps look nice :)
also, I see he released the new mech jeb pod eh?
Once we have a spaceplane runway, don't you think an orbital drydock for the really huge ships would be a good idea?
What I want is the (optional) ability to actually launch the sphessdock as either a small rocket thing or a full surrounding scaffold made of several ships docked together. It'd only make sense in any potential campaign mode and it'd be more satisfying when you finally use it.
Why are you looking at me funny? I NEED MY HOMEWORLD DOSE DAMMIT!
